Chapter 911 Psychological Pressure
"Nowadays, it's not easy for any family to have children. Several people I know have consulted doctors. It's normal, don't put so much psychological pressure on yourself."
The more Brenda tried to comfort her, the worse Juniper felt.
She was a very optimistic person. Any problem at work, she would just solve it and face it head-on.
But her body, that was something she couldn't control.
There was hope in trying to treat it, and it was too early for her to be pessimistic, but her mind kept flooding with all sorts of terrifying thoughts.
What if she really couldn't have children?
Anthony's parents were very kind to her now, but over time, they would have opinions.
Nowadays, no parents could accept their daughter-in-law being unable to have children.
And Anthony... no matter how much he loved her, it wouldn't withstand the test of time, right?
Children were the most important bond in a family. If they never had children, how long could their marriage last?
She always comforted herself not to worry about things that hadn't happened yet, but those thoughts seemed to have a life of their own, drilling into her mind and intensifying her fear.
Juniper's face turned pale, "I know, Mom." She forced a smile that looked like she was about to cry.
"Let's go eat first, don't think too much. Have some soup later to nourish your body."
Juniper felt like she was about to cry any second. She couldn't pretend everything was fine.
"I have a meeting at the company. I need to go back for it. Mom, let the driver take you home. I'll take a cab to the company."
"Let's drop you off at the company first."
"No need."
Seeing that she was avoiding, probably wanting some time alone, Brenda didn't insist, "Alright, then you go ahead. Keep a positive mindset, it's nothing."
Juniper shut herself off for three days, barely speaking, and slept in a separate room from Anthony.
It wasn't until the third night that she returned to the bedroom.
"Sorry, I haven't been in a good state these past few days, not talking much." Juniper sighed, "Let's talk."
Anthony gently stroked her tense face and smiled, "It's just a small matter, why the long face?"
"Children are a big deal for a family, not a small matter."
"It's not like you can't get pregnant, it's just a bit harder than usual. The Juniper I know is optimistic, not someone who gets so pessimistic so quickly." Anthony comforted.
Juniper gave a bitter smile, "Facing this, even the most optimistic person can't stay optimistic."
"Everything is still unknown. Life can't always be smooth sailing. We've had it easy so far, it's just a small hurdle."
"But I'd rather face hurdles in other things, not in having children. Anthony, what if, just what if I really can't have children?" Juniper asked worriedly.
"Then we won't have children. Many people don't have children nowadays. It's normal."
"You think that now, but what about in the future? When you see your peers with kids, won't you be envious? No matter how much you love me, you'll resent me. Even if you don't, I'll feel guilty."
"If you think that way, then we'll have a child. It's simple. We can adopt. It doesn't have to come from your womb to be our child. As long as we raise it together, it's our child."
"But that would mean I'm deprived of half the experience of being a mother."
Juniper felt that if the child didn't come from her womb, she wouldn't be a complete mother.
"Alright, alright, it's not decided yet. Don't be so pessimistic." Anthony hugged her tightly, "We will have children, we definitely will."
Another six months passed.
Juniper took medication daily, went to the hospital once a week, and tried various treatments, but still no good news.
Late at night, Anthony came home from a business dinner and saw her still sitting on the bed, lost in thought.
"Why aren't you asleep yet? Can't sleep without me?"
"Sorry, I've had a lot of business dinners lately. After this week, I'll make time to be with you." Anthony touched her face.
Juniper, like a soulless puppet, mumbled after a while, "I don't want to continue the treatment."
Anthony was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant. He smiled and agreed, "Alright, if you don't want to take it, then don't. Too much medication isn't good either. You can take a break."
Every time he saw her taking so many pills and supplements, it pained him.
Juniper forced a bitter smile, "Should I accept my fate?"
"Accept your fate?"
"I've been treating for six months, with the best doctors. If I could get pregnant, I would have by now. But it's like a dead end, no results at all."
She touched her abdomen, "Is it because I had too much before, so God won't let me have my own child?"
"No. I suggested you stop the medication to relax, not because you can't get pregnant. Maybe if you relax, there will be good news. Right? I believe there's always a way."
The more he comforted her, the worse Juniper felt, but she was helpless.
She had taken the medication and actively pursued various treatments, but...
"I think the biggest problem now is that you care too much about this, pushing yourself too hard, too tight. Didn't the doctor say? Emotions are also an important factor. Being in a high-pressure state is not conducive to pregnancy."
"I know it's bad for me and puts pressure on you, but I can't control my emotions."
Juniper held her head in frustration, "Even when I'm busy, I think about it. When I'm free, it's even worse. If my stomach feels a bit off, I nervously check, only to be disappointed again and again."
Her throat felt sore, and she paused before continuing, "I can't control myself. I always thought I was strong, but I didn't realize how fragile I am inside."
Maybe she could face other challenges head-on, but this... her mindset was shattered, no matter how hard she tried.
"How about this, I'll book tickets, and next week we'll go on a trip abroad, okay? A change of environment might help you forget about things here. And haven't many couples gotten pregnant while traveling? Maybe there will be a surprise? What do you think?"
"I'm not in the mood for a trip right now." Juniper sighed, "There's a lot of work waiting for me at the company, and I don't have the time."
"But in your current state, your work efficiency at the company isn't high either. It's better to go on a trip, adjust your mindset, and come back to work. You haven't taken a vacation in a long time, consider it a break, okay?"
Seeing his sincere eyes, Juniper couldn't help but sigh, "I'll think about it."
