Chapter 465 Giving Up Custody

Four days later, Candy got out of the hospital and went back to the Eilish villa.

"Miss Eilish, you've lost so much weight. It breaks my heart," the maid said, wanting to hug Candy. But Candy clung to Caleb, only wanting him.

"I'll make some chicken soup. You can have some soon."

It was 1:30 in the afternoon.

Caleb carried Candy to her room. "How about a nap first?"

Candy snuggled into her pink princess bed, making room for Caleb. "Daddy, sleep with me."

"Okay." Caleb smiled, about to take off his jacket when his phone rang.

Candy looked at him nervously.

Caleb checked the caller ID; it was the butler. He had asked him to keep an eye on things at the Eilish mansion.

"I need to take this call."

Candy was worried but didn't stop him.

Caleb answered.

"Mr. Eilish, you need to come back quickly..." the butler said anxiously.

Caleb frowned. "I'm coming back now."

Candy sat up. "Daddy, where are you going?"

"To handle some company matters."

Grace, arranging Candy's toys, chimed in coolly, "Is it company matters or that woman's matters? Lying to your daughter, don't you feel guilty?"

Caleb thought he should sew Grace's mouth shut.

"Daddy, don't go. Stay with me. You promised."

Caleb almost gave in but forced himself to be firm. "I'll be back soon. You take a nap, and I'll be back before you wake up."

"No, I can only sleep if you're here. If you're not here, I don't want to sleep..."

"Daddy, don't go. Stay with me," Candy fussed.

Caleb wished he could stay but couldn't. He sighed, "Be good."

Seeing pleading was useless, Candy shook off his hand and burrowed under the covers. "Daddy, you don't keep your promises. I won't talk to you anymore." She covered her head with the blanket.

"Candy." Caleb tried to pull the blanket down.

"Leave me alone. I won't talk to you."

Caleb, helpless, instructed Grace, "Take good care of her."

"I take care of your daughter while you go take care of your lover. Caleb, you have quite the nerve."

Caleb didn't respond.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of my daughter. After all, isn't that how it's always been? I'm the one who cares for and accompanies our daughter, while you only think about your lover and illegitimate child. How many times have you left us for them? I really want to ask Susan what kind of spell she cast on you to make you care about them so much."

"I'm curious, how many men has she used such a powerful spell on?"

"Watch your mouth."

"Candy, Daddy will be back soon."

Caleb said as he hurriedly left.

Candy looked dejectedly at the door. "Mommy, Daddy doesn't want us anymore."

Grace pulled Candy onto her lap and smiled. "Then let's get Daddy back, okay?"

"But... but how?"

"Just listen to Mommy and stand by Mommy's side. Mommy won't let Daddy leave us."

Candy nodded, half understanding. "Okay."

When Caleb rushed home, the place was already in chaos, the atmosphere tense.

Aidan was shouting, "Throw this woman out."

Susan and Oliver had already been separated by force.

"Stop!"

"Uncle Caleb!" Oliver shouted, his eyes lighting up as he saw his savior.

Caleb's command made the servants release them. Oliver rushed into Susan's arms, and they hugged tightly.

Caleb stood tall in front of them, facing Aidan. "I told you to be polite to her."

Aidan was furious. "This woman wants to steal my grandson. It's a wonder I didn't have her beaten to death."

"Oliver is my son. You took him," Susan said, holding Oliver tightly. She was slender but fierce, like a mother hen protecting her chick.

"If anyone tries to separate us, I'll fight them," she seemed to say with her eyes.

"I'll show you whose grandson he is. Tie this woman up!"

"Don't hurt my mommy..." Oliver clung to Susan.

Caleb didn't move, but his sharp gaze warned everyone. "Anyone who touches her will regret it."

"You... Are you really going to fight me for this mistress?"

"She is not my mistress. She is the mother of my son and the woman I will marry, my future wife!"

Each word was firm and clear.

The crowd held their breath, stunned.

Caleb wanted to marry Susan? But wasn't he already married?

"You're crazy. You have a wife and child!" Aidan roared.

"I've already given the divorce papers to Grace. As for Candy's custody..." Caleb's hard face softened a bit. "I'll consider giving it to Grace."

Susan was shocked. Didn't he say...

Why did he suddenly give up?

Mia, who had been silent, finally spoke up anxiously, "No! Candy is our granddaughter. We can't give her custody to Grace."

She was biased, but Candy had grown up under her care. How could she let her go with Grace? The original plan was for Grace to take both kids. How did it come to this? Everything was a mess.

"You're not just crazy, you're terminally ill. Do you know how many interests are tied to the marriage between our families? Divorce, you say it so easily. What about the cooperation between the families? How will the interests be divided? How much compensation will you have to pay?"

"Now the whole city is in an uproar. Our family's stock has plummeted because of you. You should be standing with Grace to clear up the scandal, not confirming the rumors of domestic violence by getting a divorce. How will people view our family?"

Caleb was indifferent. "I don't care about their opinions."

"And you don't care about the plummeting stock prices? Caleb, you're the vice president of the Eilish Group, responsible for tens of thousands of employees. Can you disregard their lives for your own selfish desires? You're not considering the bigger picture at all. You're too selfish! How could I have raised such an unfilial son?"

"If I can't even be true to the woman and child I love, how can I be responsible for others' lives?" Caleb's expression was cold.

"I've decided on the divorce. There's no room for discussion. As for Susan," he turned around. "Even if it takes my whole life to earn her forgiveness, I will marry her."

These words struck Susan's heart like a hammer.

People's hearts are made of flesh. If Susan said she wasn't moved at all, it would be a lie.

But...
