Chapter 759 Choosing Brice

Late at night, Juniper was sleeping soundly when she suddenly felt an itch on her face, as if someone was touching her.

Could it be a pervert? How dare someone make a move on a patient in a hospital?

Just as she was about to teach the person a lesson, she caught a familiar scent.

It was Anthony.

Opening her eyes now would only make things more awkward. Juniper had no choice but to endure and keep her eyes closed.

His touch was very light, as if he was afraid of waking her, and she could hear his low voice intermittently by her ear.

"I'm sorry, I know you've moved on, but I still like you without permission."

"I know, as someone who is about to get married, I no longer have the right to like you."

"If I had let go of everything to keep you back then, if I hadn't been petty, if I hadn't lied about being with Hera, would things have turned out differently?"

Juniper's heart skipped a beat. He wasn't with Hera back then? He lied to her? Just like she lied to him about Ronnie being her boyfriend.

They deceived each other to suppress their feelings. What a pair of fools!

Why couldn't they just talk it out? Why did they have to hurt each other like porcupines?

Juniper felt deep regret. But it was too late.

"I thought I could forget you, but for the past three months, day and night, I couldn't stop thinking about you."

"Every time I think of you, I feel like I'm suffocating. It's painful, but it's like self-torture; I can't control myself from thinking about you."

"Time hasn't diminished my feelings for you; instead, it has made my affection for you grow. Until I saw you again, my world 'boomed,' and everything collapsed. All my emotions surged like a flood, sweeping me into a whirlpool."

"Juniper, I really like you, more deeply than before. I thought I would only love one person in my life, but she didn't choose me. I thought I wouldn't love again until I met you. So many concerns made me push you away. I was really stupid."

"The night you completely left me, I drank a lot and mistook Hera for you... I can only be responsible for her, but at that time, I thought we were completely over. I only feel a sense of responsibility towards her, not a bit of love. She suffocates me. I want to cancel the engagement, but she doesn't agree."

"Thinking about marrying someone I don't love feels like falling into an abyss... like drowning... I want to save myself, but I don't know how..."

Juniper felt heartache. Marrying someone you don't love is nothing short of torture. She couldn't help but feel sympathy for Anthony.

She wanted to comfort him, but Anthony and Hera were about to get married. She couldn't get involved in his world again. It had taken her so much effort to pull herself out.

Juniper murmured in her heart, 'I'm sorry, Anthony. I was too selfish. I just wanted to protect myself from getting hurt again, so I had to stay away from you. I can't save you, and I don't want a complicated relationship. Really... I'm sorry...'

She heard him take a deep breath and laugh bitterly.

"Maybe I should be happy for you. You're free now, really relaxed, right? The way you look at me no longer has the deep affection it used to. You've completely moved on, haven't you?"

Juniper answered in her heart, 'It's not moving on, it's forcing myself to let go.'

"But I'm still stuck in the past, sinking deeper and deeper. What's waiting for me is an even deeper abyss."

"Sometimes I think I'm pretty useless, getting myself so tangled and pained over feelings."

"I guess this is it, leaving regrets. Don't worry, I won't pester you."

His voice was hoarse as if saying goodbye, making Juniper feel waves of sadness.

However, she could only continue to pretend to sleep until, after a long, long time, Anthony left. She heard the soft sound of the door closing, and tears glimmered in her eyes.

The next day.

Brice was spoon-feeding Juniper porridge, joking, "Now you see the benefits of having a man around, right?"

He added, "Who would take care of you if you were alone? Aren't I great? Super considerate, right?"

"I've thought about what you said the other day." Juniper suddenly said calmly.

Brice was stunned for a moment, "What thing?"

Then he suddenly realized...

"You, you wouldn't... You don't have to rush to make a decision. Think it through, give me another chance. We don't know each other well enough yet..."

"I agree," Juniper said softly.

"I'm really good to you, and I'm sincere... Wait, what did you say?" Brice looked incredulous, "You agreed?"

"Yes, I agreed."

Brice was shocked, blushing and standing there in a daze, "Am I dreaming?"

"I thought for sure you would reject me. No, I must be dreaming."

He pinched himself, "Huh? It hurts? Not dreaming?"

"Wait, why did you suddenly agree?"

"I... I can't quite accept it all at once..." Brice was almost incoherent.

"You don't want me to agree?"

"Of course not, I'm just, too surprised."

"Oh my, you've made me feel like someone who's never been in a relationship, actually getting nervous." Brice licked his lips, "Awkward."

"So you don't want to?"

"I do, I do, of course, I do." Brice nodded vigorously, "It's just that... the surprise came too suddenly, I wasn't mentally prepared."

"Why did you suddenly agree? Did you not think it through? Actually, I'm not in a hurry. I said we could start as friends and develop slowly. I haven't even formally confessed yet. There should be flowers and a romantic candlelight dinner."

Juniper smiled. "What I care about is the sincerity, not those formalities."

"But you girls all like romance, right? Since I can give it, I naturally want to give you the best of everything. Because you deserve it, Juniper. And I hope the day we get together isn't in a hospital."

"I've already said it, you want me to take it back? Aren't you afraid I'll change my mind?" Juniper joked.

Brice quickly shouted, "Afraid! Of course, I'm afraid! But I hope you're not making a hasty decision, but a well-thought-out one. Because I'm very serious about you, and I hope this relationship can go to the end, you understand?"

"I understand." Juniper nodded.

If he was just playing around, Juniper wouldn't choose him. She didn't have time to play games with feelings; she'd rather focus on her work.

"I thought about it all night last night, and I've made up my mind." She looked into his eyes.

Indeed, she had some thoughts of grabbing a lifeline, but she also genuinely wanted to start a normal relationship.

No third parties, no playboys, but a mature relationship between two adults.
