Chapter 687 Work Mistake

Ronnie had his arms on either side of her, not putting his weight on her but making it impossible for her to get away. Juniper shot him a death glare, eyes blazing like she wanted to rip him apart.

Ronnie smirked, "You know, your temper's like a ticking time bomb. But damn, you look cute when you're mad. Even your cussing sounds like a sweet tune, gets my heart racing."

"You're such a jerk!" Juniper snapped, her fury palpable. "You're the most shameless person ever!"

"Yep, keep it coming. Love hearing you curse. It's like music to my ears."

Juniper was about to lose it. "I'm telling you one last time, get off me!"

Ronnie grinned, "And if I don't? What are you gonna do? Kick me again? I've trained to dodge your moves. You can't hurt me."

"Oh really? Bet you didn't see this coming." Juniper sneered and headbutted him.

Ronnie groaned, "Damn it!"

A lump started forming on his forehead.

Ronnie whined, "You don't play fair, do you? Got too many tricks up your sleeve!"

"This is me. Didn't you say you could dodge anything? Does your face hurt?"

"How's your head so hard?" Ronnie was both pissed and amused. Juniper was like a wild horse, totally untamed.

Juniper shot back, "If you think you can bully me, no way. If I catch you in my bed again, you're dead."

"Impossible, 'cause we're gonna sleep together forever."

Juniper scoffed, "Yeah, right!"

"You've already let me touch you, so just accept it. It's done. Don't worry, I'll take responsibility."

Juniper mocked, "Who wants your responsibility? Ronnie, are you nuts, or do you think I am? Who are you trying to scare? You think I wouldn't know if something happened? I don't feel anything, unless you're impotent!"

Ronnie thought, 'Oh my god! How can I tolerate such an insult? I can't! Otherwise, will I still be a man?'

"Want to test it?"

"I don't want to test anything." Juniper shot back, "If you sneak into my bed again while I'm asleep, I won't be polite."

After kicking him out, Juniper quickly got ready and headed to meet Mira at the office. They were off to the Pena Group to sign a big contract that had been in the works for over a week. It had to be signed today.

On the way, Mira was cold and silent. Juniper didn't bother with small talk and stayed quiet.

The car was dead silent as they drove to the Pena Group.

They went up to the 20th floor and walked into Saul Pena's office.

"Mr. Pena." Mira immediately put on a smile when she saw him.

"Mira, long time no see. And this is..." Saul's eyes lit up with admiration when he saw Juniper.

This annoyed Mira, whose outstretched hand hung awkwardly in the air.

Juniper said, "Hello, Mr. Pena. I'm Mr. Eilish's new secretary, Juniper."

"Juniper? Nice name. Impressive that someone so young is already Mr. Eilish's secretary. Which school did you graduate from?" Saul asked with a smile.

"Finance Department at Star University."

Saul said, "A top school grad! Impressive! And so beautiful too, Mr. Eilish is very lucky. Mira, Juniper's school is better than yours."

A flash of displeasure crossed Mira's eyes.

Mira thought, 'What's so great about that! I can't stand being compared to Juniper and getting overshadowed by her. Not only is she prettier, but her school is better too. Even Saul, who I've known for years, is instantly smitten with her. Is everything about looks these days?'

Mira's jealousy towards Juniper's looks grew, thinking they were like a vixen's, probably the reason Anthony was so taken with her.

She thought coldly to herself, 'Just wait, Juniper, your good days are numbered.'

Juniper could feel the icy vibes coming from Mira, but she didn't let it bother her.

Saul kept showering Juniper with compliments and asked her a bunch of personal questions, clearly interested.

Juniper politely cut him off, and he laughed, "I love chatting with young folks. We gotta find time to meet one-on-one when I get back from my trip."

"Sure, Mr. Pena," Juniper agreed politely.

"Mr. Pena, let's get the contract signed first," Mira said.

Saul asked, "Yeah, where's the contract?"

"I have it." Juniper pulled out a stack of documents from her briefcase but couldn't find the contract after flipping through them several times.

"What's going on?" Mira asked, feigning concern.

Juniper didn't answer and kept searching, but still couldn't find it. She was puzzled; she was sure she had put the contract in there.

The missing contract was strange. Juniper didn't think she would lose it, but in front of Saul, she had to say awkwardly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Pena. I forgot to bring the contract."

Saul said angrily, "Are you kidding me? You forgot the contract for the signing? I just praised your competence, and this is what you do? Do you know how important the contract is? But you forgot it. My time is very valuable!"

"I'm sorry." Juniper apologized.

Saul continued, "What's the use of saying sorry now? I postponed an important meeting and delayed my trip abroad by a day for this contract. Do you know how much that cost me? But you make such a rookie mistake."

Juniper hung her head.

"I take back what I said earlier. Mira, you're reliable and have never made a mistake in all these years, while she forgets the contract. Unbelievable." Saul shook his head in frustration.

Men were visual creatures. They liked pretty faces and were biased towards them. But in the workplace, especially when it came to money, competence was far more important than looks.

Juniper quickly said, "I'm sorry. I'll go back to the office and prepare a new contract right away."

Saul said coldly, "It's too late. I'm flying out in three hours."

Juniper added, "I can make it."

"You think you can make it?" Saul said irritably, "I already delayed my trip by a day for this contract and can't delay it any longer. We'll have to wait until I return. Do you know how much damage a week of delay will cause both sides? Do you know how many employees will be affected?"

"I'm sorry," Juniper said softly.

"What's the use of saying sorry? You can't compensate for the loss." Saul glanced at Mira, "Please inform Mr. Eilish that the contract will be signed next week, but this is not my fault, it's your side's problem. And suggest to him that to avoid further losses, he should replace his secretary as soon as possible."

Mira hid her glee and replied, "Of course, Mr. Pena. I'll be sure to pass on your message."

She cast a sidelong glance at Juniper as she spoke.
