Chapter 350 Earth Tycoon

Half an hour later, she arrived at Quantum Crescendo Ltd, which was a medium-sized company located in the downtown area, on the 11th floor of a building.

Layla walked toward the elevator.

"Move aside. Are you blind?"

"Piss off!"

Three bodyguards who were wearing sunglasses cleared a path, shouting and pushing people along the way.

Even a five-year-old boy was not spared. He was roughly pushed aside.

Layla hurried to help him, almost stumbling herself.

"Little boy, are you okay?"

The boy, startled, shook his head. "I'm fine, thank you."

The boy's mother quickly expressed her gratitude.

"Why are you being so aggressive toward a child?"

"Don't you see our boss coming? Get out of the way, or I'll beat the hell out of you!" the bodyguard roared menacingly. The child's mother immediately ran away with the child.

Layla despised bullies like that from the bottom of her heart.

She saw them escorting a man into the elevator. The tycoon was a chubby man over five feet tall, with a fat head and a short neck. He was wearing a leopard-print suit and a very thick gold chain. He swaggered like an emperor, playing with a golden diamond phone.

Layla didn't want to go in. She wanted to take another elevator, but that one happened to be out of order, so she had no choice but to enter.

The bodyguards thought she was a beautiful woman and didn't kick her out.

"Women with long legs are exciting," the man drooled.

Layla accidentally glanced at his phone screen and saw a lewd picture. She quickly looked away, feeling disgusted.

"What are you looking at, lady?" The tycoon took off his sunglasses, greedily sizing her up from head to toe. Her office outfit was his favorite.

"Which floor are you going to?

"Why don’t you give me your number?"

Layla moved discreetly to a corner.

"Don't be so aloof. Look at my outfit. My coat is from LV, my belt is from Hermes, and my pants are from GUCCI."

Layla thought it was impressive that he could make designer brands look so tacky.

"How about sleeping with me? Oh, why don’t you be friends with me? I'm a good person." The man smiled with creases all over his face, which made Layla want to throw up her dinner. She didn’t want to be on the same floor as him, so she got off on the 9th floor.

"Hey, lady?"

"Boss, the meeting is about to start and they've been waiting for half an hour," said a bodyguard.

"Let them wait. What's the rush? If they don't want to wait, tell them to piss off. They’ve ruined my good mood!

"That bitch won't even look at me. My women are much prettier than you. You're pretending to be high and mighty. I don't care!" The man kept cursing until the elevator doors closed.

After Layla got out on the 9th floor, she took the stairs to the 10th floor.

As soon as she came out, she was shocked by the company's decoration.

The boss, Leonard, was a local tycoon, so the entire company exuded extravagance. It was extremely ostentatious and shined brilliantly with gold, dazzling her eyes!

Layla went to the front desk and identified herself. The receptionist smirked, muttering under her breath, "Huh, he even changed to a pretty one.

"The boss is in a meeting." The receptionist rolled her eyes.

"When will it be over?" Layla asked.

"I don't know. It’ just started."

"I'll wait here for him," Layla said.

"You shouldn’t cause trouble here. The boss won't sign with you. How shameless," the receptionist scoffed.

Layla ignored her and found a seat.

"I told you the boss wouldn't sign with you, right?" The receptionist, annoyed, followed her and refused to let her sit.

But Layla just sat down. "Whether he signs or not, I'll at least wait to see Leonard."

"I can’t believe you." The receptionist rolled her eyes and smiled coldly. "You're a bit overdressed."

Then she snorted and walked away with a sway of her hips.

Layla was speechless. It seemed that the receptionist knew Leonard's character very well, but society had a great deal of malice toward women, often blaming them. Ironically, this malice often came from the same gender.

Layla continued to review the documents, occasionally looking around at her surroundings, and before she knew it, it was almost five o'clock.

It was almost time to leave work.

The receptionist started to touch up her makeup. She applied foundation to her face and painted her lips bright red.

Layla had asked her about Leonard a few times, but she always seemed indifferent. Finally, she impatiently said, "I said he won't sign. Why do you keep bothering me? I told you to leave, but you keep clinging to me."

It was nearly six o'clock.

"Leonard, you must have finished the meeting downstairs." The receptionist, now all smiles, approached him obsequiously, like a fluttering butterfly.

Layla stared. Leonard was the rude man from earlier.

He walked in, swearing profusely. "Damn, they graduated from foreign prestigious schools, bullshit, what a bunch of idiots. I hired them to work, not to oppose me. How could my decisions be wrong? They've stuffed their heads with books, what idiots!"

"The boss is always right," the bodyguards chimed in.

"Take it easy, Boss." The receptionist brought him some water." Brightness Design Company sent someone here again."

"Is it that fat woman again? Tell her to piss off. I won't sign with a fat woman. Enough," said Leonard.

"Leonard." Layla stepped forward.

Leonard's eyes lit up, then he sneered, "Aren't you the woman from earlier? Weren't you acting aloof in the elevator? I've seen many women like you, all pretending to be indifferent. You're all after my money.

"Why aren’t you still pretending to keep your distance? I knew it. You’ve come here to beg me for something, right?"

Layla interrupted his disgusting fantasies. "I'm a designer from Brightness Design Company."

"Brightness Design Company?" Leonard was momentarily surprised, then smiled suggestively, his gaze becoming more malicious. "They finally figured it out and sent a pretty one here. Let's go, we'll have dinner."

"Leonard, let's discuss the contract first."

"I'm hungry, I’m too weak to talk. Let's eat and talk at the same time." Leonard reached out his chubby short hand to pull Layla closer, but Layla deftly avoided him.

Leonard thought to himself, 'Keep up the act. You might be acting all high and mighty now, but you'll see what happens later.'

Leonard's evil gaze lingered on her figure.

The receptionist sneered with jealousy.

Leonard had forgotten all about their date tonight, which infuriated her a lot. She was all dressed up for nothing and her plan had been ruined.

Leonard picked a restaurant, insisting on sitting next to Layla.

Layla moved away. "Leonard, this is a four-seater. According to dining etiquette, you should sit across from me."

Just being close to him made Layla nauseous, so she definitely didn’t want to sit with him.

She struggled to resist the urge to push away his wandering hands and kick her legs.

Leonard stuck persistently to her. "It's cold right now. It would be nice to sit like this."
