Chapter 322 Contradictions

Mr. Eilish Sr. had a look of "I knew it." Such women were numerous, and his disdain was evident.

Mrs. Eilish Sr. snorted, "Of course, she wouldn't say it directly, but that's what she meant."

Mrs. Eilish Sr. continued, "I made it clear to her to give up, but she's determined not to sell her son."

"What's there to discuss? He's our grandson, a member of the Eilish family. Why not bring him back directly? Can that woman stop us?"

"No need to rush. The child is sensible. If we forcibly take him back, he'll see us as enemies."

"What can a three-year-old understand?" Mr. Eilish Sr. dismissed the concern.

"Ordinary three-year-olds may not, but our grandson is exceptionally bright. He'll understand. Do you want your precious grandson to resent you? I don't." Mrs. Eilish Sr. shook her head. "It's been years. A few more days won't hurt. If necessary, we can arrange a place for the mother and son to stay for now."

Mr. Eilish Sr. was displeased. "Isn't that a concession? Is she worthy?"

"She isn't, but I'm doing this for our grandson. I don't want to scare him. Stay calm, prioritize our grandson in everything, understood?"

Mr. Eilish Sr. pondered, "Are you sure?"

"Of course, I have my ways. Don't you trust me?"

"Alright, I'll leave it to you. Remember, I only want my grandson. That woman will never enter the Eilish family!"

"Got it," Mrs. Eilish Sr. replied with a smile.

Grace returned home to find Mrs. Eilish Sr. playing with Candy.

"Grandma's here," Candy exclaimed.

Grace took off her gloves and handed them to the maid, then greeted Mrs. Eilish Sr. with a neutral tone.

Grace and Mrs. Eilish Sr. had a strained relationship, meeting only on special occasions. Grace was bothered by the Eilish family's favoritism towards boys. Candy was loved, but the constant pressure for a grandson irritated Grace.

Mrs. Eilish Sr. found Grace's temper too much. Despite their differences, they maintained a superficial relationship.

"Why did you go out? It's best not to leave Candy alone," Mrs. Eilish Sr. remarked casually.

Grace retorted, "I take care of her every day. Is it a crime to be away for an hour? What about Caleb? He's always with that woman."

Mrs. Eilish Sr. was taken aback. Grace's words were sharp and uncomfortable. However, Mrs. Eilish Sr. was not one to lose her temper easily. She asked the maid to take Candy to play in the yard before saying, "I didn't mean that. I was just doting on my granddaughter, you know? I understand your hardships. Candy is getting cuter, all thanks to you." "Caleb is busy with work, beyond his control. Please be more understanding."

"Work? Ha, do you know if he's really busy with work or with that woman?"

"This is his home, he knows better." "He insists on a divorce, I don't think he understands." Mrs. Eilish Sr. retorted, and Mrs. Eilish Sr.'s face darkened. It was clear she was trying to control her temper.

"Candy hasn't been as happy lately. She must have been affected by the recent rumors. Although she's only three, children her age understand a lot. Whatever issues there are between husband and wife, we will stand by your side and teach him a lesson."

"The rumors are getting more and more outrageous. Why don't you clarify the situation? It will all blow over."

"Blow over? He hit me. Why should it be so easy to let it go?" Grace sat down, crossed her legs, and raised the document in her hand. "This is the medical report I just got."

"You..." Grace's actions were making the situation worse. Mrs. Eilish Sr. was displeased. "What are you doing? Are you going to take legal action and make a spectacle of our family? Enough people are already laughing at us."

"I'm not doing this for others to see. I'm seeking justice for myself. He hit me, and I can't just let it go."

"I know my son well. Caleb would never hit anyone," Mrs. Eilish Sr. said confidently.

"Then is this report fake?"

Mrs. Eilish Sr. thought to herself: It must be fake, no doubt about it. But she didn't want to escalate the conflict further. "Caleb is definitely at fault, but there's no need for a divorce."

"Mom, let me make one thing clear. It's him who wants a divorce, not me. I've given him many chances, but he insists on divorcing. Not only that, he wants custody of Candy. I disagree, and he hit me. Our family won't be easily bullied."

Mrs. Eilish Sr. shook her head. "He's just talking. Divorce is not that easy. As long as his father and I disagree, the marriage won't end. We will find a way to help you, but if you continue to make a fuss, you'll be pushing him away. I've seen that woman, and I won't let her into the Eilish family. But... the child is innocent."

"The child is innocent?" Grace couldn't help but sneer. She directly confronted her mother-in-law, "Mom, you only care because he's your grandson, right? What if it were a girl?" "You..."

Mrs. Eilish Sr. frowned and spoke more directly, "That's because you haven't given birth to a son. Our family has only had one child for several generations, and we can't have no descendants in the future. I've always wanted you to have a son, and it makes sense, right? Now, you let other women have one first." "I'll be honest, I won't agree to your divorce. As for the child, our family also wants it. So we plan to let you raise this child, since you don't have a son."

Grace laughed, "Mom, listen to yourself. Is that even reasonable? If you were in my shoes, would you agree?"

"I know it's not easy for you to accept a child from another woman, but it's the best solution for now. You have both a son and a daughter, and you don't have to give birth anymore..."

"It's not that I don't want to give birth, it's that Caleb doesn't touch me. How am I supposed to have children?" Grace let out her pent-up frustration, her eyes glaring, "We've been married for four years, and he hasn't touched me once. Can you imagine how I've endured? It's the biggest insult to a woman."

Mrs. Eilish Sr. was greatly shocked. Despite knowing that their marriage was not good, she didn't expect it to be this bad. "Caleb owes you an apology. What you're doing now is justified." "Grace..."

"There's no need to say anything. I've made myself clear. I won't divorce. As for that illegitimate child, you can have him, but I won't. It's absolutely impossible for me to raise a child for the third party! Please leave." Grace didn't say much and went upstairs, leaving Mrs. Eilish Sr. with a deepening frown. "Don't want it? You'll have to take it!"
