Chapter 284 Try to Fall in Love with Me
At the Eilish family.
Grace was feeding Candy.
"Mommy, have a bite."
"Look at you. With food all over your face, you're like a little kitten." Grace wiped Candy's mouth with a tissue. Candy smiled. "Mommy, kittens are the cutest."
"No, my Candy is the cutest."
"I am a little princess." Candy, true to her name, has two dimples and a particularly sweet smile.
"Yes, our Candy is a little princess. Here, have another bite. Candy is so good."
"Sir, you're back early today." The intense aura behind her made Grace's hand tremble. She turned around, and Caleb's face was more terrifying than the death.
He knew.
The two locked eyes for a second, and Grace felt a wave of fear as if he had her by the throat.
"Daddy, you're back. I missed you so much." Candy happily jumped into Caleb's arms.
"You eat first." Caleb didn't hug his daughter. Instead, his sinister eyes fixed on Grace.
"You, come with me to the room."
"I'm still feeding her. We can talk after Candy finishes eating." Grace was a bit hesitant.
"Let the maid feed her."
"I'm feeding her just fine. Why should the maid feed her? She'll refuse to eat again later. Our daughter's meal is the most important thing. We can talk after she finishes eating." Grace instinctively wanted to use their daughter as a shield, but Caleb didn't hesitate to step forward, grabbed Grace's wrist, and pulled her up from the chair.
"You..." Grace was startled, and the bowl in her hand fell to the ground.
"Daddy, what are you doing? Let go of Mommy. You’re hurting her." Candy tried to pry his hand open. Grace became even more anxious. She didn't expect Caleb to be so rough in front of their daughter, but before she could say anything, Caleb dragged her upstairs.
"Caleb, be careful... I'm going to fall..." Grace stumbled up the stairs, almost rolling down several times.
"Caleb..." She was pushed into the room. "What are you doing?" Grace twisted her wrist out of his grip. "You'll scare our daughter like this.
"Can't we talk properly? Are you a violent maniac?"
"You went to find Susan?" Caleb's face turned terrifying.
"I don't know Susan."
"You're lying!" Caleb roared, and Grace took two steps back in fear. She swallowed, "Yes, I went to find her. What's wrong with me teaching that third party a lesson?"
"Watch your words, Grace!" This was the most ridiculous thing Grace had ever heard. Her anger replaced her fear for a moment.
"Watch my words? The two of you are all over each other, and you blame me for using the wrong words? Did I say anything wrong? She is the third party and a homewrecker who intervenes in our relationship. She has no shame!
"As for you, Caleb, you are the shameless one.
"I've given you a chance, but you've only gotten worse. You cheated on me with that woman four years ago, and now you want to be with her. Caleb, are all the women in the world dead? Is she the only one for you?"
"Four years ago?" Caleb's nerves were touched. Grace realized she had slipped up and lied, "As long as I pay the private detective enough money, I can dig up that woman's history. I know everything she's done.
"Celeb, is that why you don't want to touch me? Huh? Because she's in your heart? I didn’t know you were so infatuated..."
"Yes, from four years ago until now, I only love Susan!" Caleb said resolutely, and this statement, spoken by him, dealt a devastating blow to Grace.
"Caleb..." she gritted her teeth and called his name.
"When we got married, I said that I was only marrying you because of the child. If you don't want to, you don't have to. All I can give you is the title of Mrs. Eilish."
"I thought it would be different after Candy was born. I thought you would slowly accept me and fall in love with me. Who knew you were just a cold-blooded animal? You made me live a widow's life for four years." Grace accused him, unable to help but cry. She had been full of grievances all along.
"Caleb, it's your fault.
"I took care of Candy for you. I quit my job and stayed home every day to take care of our daughter. And now, you're cursing me for a third party?"
"As long as you're with her, you're committing adultery. You're shameless. I'm your wife, and she deserves whatever I do to her. Let alone stripping her naked, even if I have someone gang-rape her, it's her own fault."
"How dare you..." Caleb's temple throbbed. "If you dare to lay a finger on her, I will kill you."
For the first time, Grace realized how bitter tears could be. For a woman, there was nothing more devastating than the pain of her husband threatening her for a third party.
"You’ll kill me? Are you trying to make Candy motherless?
"Caleb, you're the one who betrayed me. Once we divorce, you have no right to fight for custody."
"You're not worthy of fighting with the Eilish family." Caleb laughed at her delusion.
"I have evidence of your domestic violence. If you continue to be with that woman, I will cause a scene and let everyone know that you are a scum who abuses his family."
"I don't care."
"Huh, you don't care how others see you, but don't you care how Candy sees you?" Grace sneered, "I will tell Candy that her beloved father hit her mother for a third party and wants to divorce her mother, and we'll see if Candy will ever want to see you again. She will hate you for the rest of her life!"
Caleb frowned. Grace knew his weakness very well. He didn't care how everyone saw him, but as a father, he didn't want any blemish in his daughter's heart.
The thought of his beloved daughter hating him was unbearable for Caleb. He couldn't accept it. That would be enough to kill him.
Grace knew her words had an effect, so she softened her tone at the right moment. "Caleb, we've been married for four years, and we have a lovely daughter. Are all these meaningless to you? Are you willing to give up your family for an outsider? Are you willing?
"I'm causing trouble for her because she's a despicable third party, but I never thought of divorcing you, let alone depriving you of custody of Candy. I'm willing to give you another chance. As long as you cut off ties with her, I will not blame you for the past. We will still be a perfect family, but you also have to promise me one thing..."
Grace walked up to him and gently placed her hand on his forearm. "Try to accept me. Try to fall in love with me..." Her eyes were misty as she tiptoed and carefully kissed Caleb's lips.
