Chapter 835 Meet That Girl
Brenda agreed, "You're right, but girls like that are still in the minority, aren't they?"
"I think they're the majority, all vain and wanting to marry a rich guy. Especially the really pretty ones who think they're all that. Like the one I saw today," Ruben couldn't help but shake his head. "It's hard to find a normal one these days, let alone one with good character and consistency."
"Yeah, you're right. But you have to trust Anthony and my judgment. We wouldn't be wrong."
Ruben shook his head, "Love is blind. I'm afraid Anthony only sees her good side and not her true nature. You haven't known her long enough to really understand her. Anyone can put on a good front for a short time, but their true colors show over time."
"I think you had a bias against her from the start, which is why you think so poorly of her. Why not meet her? Since you're so good at judging people, you'll see right through her."
Ruben raised an eyebrow, "Trying to trick me? You just want me to meet her."
Did she think he didn't know her little schemes?
Brenda smiled, "You caught me."
"Of course, I'm your husband. How could I not understand you? You're just helping that woman."
"I'm not helping her; I'm helping Anthony. He has good taste, and any girl he's this persistent about must have her merits. Besides, if you meet her sooner, you'll know what kind of person she is. If you really don't like her, you can refuse. But right now, not meeting her at all is too arbitrary. How can Anthony accept that?"
"Even if I meet her and say she's no good, he won't give up."
"That's different. At least you can point out her flaws. Right now, you're just refusing without a reason, which isn't convincing. Anthony is reasonable. If you're truly right, he'll listen to you. Okay?"
That made some sense. Ruben hesitated for a moment and then nodded, "I'll think about it."
"Good."
"Dad." Anthony came downstairs with a box of tea.
"You still know how to come home? Why bother? Just move in with her. This house can't keep you; your heart's already with her."
Anthony ignored the complaints, "I went to get some good tea from the estate yesterday."
"What's this? Compensation or flattery?" Ruben waved his hand, "Don't try to change my attitude with flattery. I won't drink this tea."
"Anthony is just being filial. He used to bring you tea often. Don't be so sensitive. This tea is good, and you've been looking for it for a long time."
Ruben was speechless, "Did you tell him? You're just helping him."
"I'm going upstairs. Looking at you makes me angry."
After Ruben went upstairs, Brenda smiled, "Your dad is just stubborn. He's not that mad at you anymore. He even agreed to consider meeting Juniper."
Anthony was pleasantly surprised, "Really? Thanks, Mom. You must have said a lot of good things."
"I didn't dare say good things. That would make your dad even more unwilling to meet her. I just know how to handle him."
"That's right. You understand Dad the best."
"After all these years of marriage, I know his temper very well."
"Thanks, Mom. Juniper and I will definitely be good to you."
"I know you two are filial. I don't ask for much. I just want you to be happy." Brenda patted Anthony's shoulder.
"I will be."
On the other side, Juniper received a call from Anthony that evening.
"Your dad really agreed to meet me? You didn't threaten him, did you?" she asked exaggeratedly.
"Silly, my dad doesn't respond well to threats. It was my mom."
"Winning over your mom was the right move. With her help, our chances are much better."
"Yeah, my dad loves my mom. Her words carry the most weight."
"So, who will call the shots between us in the future?"
Anthony answered without hesitation, "You will. I'll listen to you."
Juniper smiled, "You're the CEO of the Eilish Group, commanding thousands. Isn't it a bit of a stretch for you to listen to me?"
"Not at all. My dad always said that a man who listens to his wife has a bright future."
"Hahaha, that's so true. Your dad is a good man."
"And I'm a good man too. Why don't you praise me?"
"You're good now, but there's room for improvement. Learn more from your dad." Juniper encouraged.
"I will. I'll spoil you so much. You'll be the envy of all women as Mrs. Eilish."
"I'll believe it when I see it."
"Okay, I will."
After hanging up, Juniper was still basking in the sweetness when Ronnie called.
"Who were you talking to for so long?" Ronnie complained. "I called you three times."
"Of course, I was talking to my boyfriend."
"I'm jealous. So what if it's Anthony? You're not the only one with a partner. I have one too."
"Yours isn't a partner; it's a playmate. Seriously, look at the last one you found. If it weren't for your sake, I wouldn't have been so polite."
"You weren't polite to her at all."
"Of course not. Do you think I'd let myself be taken advantage of?"
"Don't mention it. I already dumped her."
"Congratulations. But if the next one is the same, it's because you only look at faces."
"Look who's talking. You also look at faces. Why don't you like mine? Is my face not good enough?"
"It's not your face; it's your brain. You must be out of your mind to challenge someone to a drinking contest and then get drunk yourself. It's embarrassing. The one thing you're good at, and my boyfriend beat you."
"Damn it, I drank for two hours before I passed out! Five bottles of whiskey!"
"Still, you passed out first, like a dead dog. You're just not as good as my boyfriend." Juniper said smugly.
"Aren't you even a little suspicious? Why can he drink so much? He must be partying behind your back. I'm telling you, hire a detective. He might be worse than me."
"Get lost! I'm hanging up."
"Today's my birthday," Ronnie said.
"Every day is your birthday."
"No, today is really my birthday. Can you come and keep me company?"
"I'm too lazy to go out. Happy birthday. I'll get you a gift next time."
"Do I need your gift?"
"Then I won't get one."
"Don't make me curse on my birthday." Ronnie was about to lose it. "Do you have any conscience? You call yourself my best friend? Have you forgotten who was there for you when you came back to the country? It's my birthday, just once a year, and you won't come. You..."
