Chapter 871 Proposal in the Hospital Room
Juniper gave a bitter smile, "I know, but I can't control my mind. It keeps spinning and replaying that scene over and over. I feel like my whole head is going to explode, it's so painful."
"It won't stop! Anthony..." Juniper clutched her head in agony, shaking it, trying to stop it but unable to.
It was as if she was under a spell.
Anthony quickly pulled her into his arms, "Stop thinking about it, don't think about it anymore, I'm here."
"The pain will pass, Juniper. The most important thing is that we're still together, and we can still have children. Okay? You need to eat more, once your body recovers, it will be easy to conceive again. We're still young. There are plenty of opportunities."
"Do you like kids? How about we have three in the future? Two daughters and a son, okay?"
"Daughters as beautiful as you, they'll definitely charm a lot of boys."
"If it's a son, I'll teach him survival skills, make him a strong man to protect his mom and sisters. How about that?"
Anthony's heart was heavy too, but he had to stay optimistic. If he got depressed, she would only feel worse.
Juniper's eyes reddened as she choked up, "Will you blame me? I didn't tell you, but I..."
Anthony cupped her face, "You don't need to say it, I know, it's not your fault, I share the responsibility too."
"What's past is past. We still have a bright future ahead of us, there's no need to live in the shadows, right?"
He wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, "Stop crying, your eyes are all swollen."
Juniper sniffled. She didn't want to be so weak, crying and making him feel bad, but she couldn't help it, she felt so guilty.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kept it from you. From now on, I'll discuss everything with you, I won't be willful anymore."
"Okay. Stop crying, it's really okay, alright? Seeing you cry breaks my heart."
"Okay."
"How about some porridge? You're very weak right now, you need to eat more to recover faster."
"Okay." Juniper told herself that no matter how sad or painful it was, no matter how many tears she shed, it wouldn't help.
It would only make those who cared about her and loved her feel worse.
'Baby, I'm sorry. I hope you can come back to Mommy's belly. Mommy will protect you well.'
After Juniper fell asleep, Anthony walked out of the hospital room.
He gently closed the door.
"Staying up all night to watch over her, Mr. Eilish's love is so touching, even I'm moved," Saffron said sarcastically.
She had lost a leg, and not a single man came to see her, but Juniper had someone staying by her bedside all night, and that person was Anthony.
She hated Juniper, hated that she hadn't died in the accident.
Anthony ignored her, but Saffron continued, "If I were you, I'd be very worried right now. Not to mention whether the car accident will leave any aftereffects, just the question of whether Juniper can have children is a big issue."
"The Eilish family is such a big family, it can't end with no descendants. So I kindly advise Mr. Eilish to think it over carefully, lest you marry her and find out she can't have children, then divorce her, that would be troublesome."
Anthony, usually a gentle person, couldn't help but retort sharply, "You should worry about yourself."
"No matter what Juniper becomes, I will love her and protect her just the same. It will never change my decision to marry her. And you, with such a venomous heart, no man will love you, no one will dare to marry you."
Saffron, hit where it hurt, gripped the wheelchair armrest tightly, "Don't believe her side of the story, she's the one who badmouthed me, she wronged me. Look at how she treated me, if she hadn't called the police, my leg wouldn't be broken. I'm the one who's been wronged."
Anthony raised his hand, "No need to explain, what I see is a malicious woman kicking someone when they're down."
Saffron gritted her teeth in hatred. Men were so blind, treating Juniper like an angel and her like an old witch. She had endured too much unfair treatment. She was so angry!
"Stay away from Juniper, or I won't let you off," Anthony warned.
The series of family misfortunes had aged Aaron significantly in a short time, with more gray hair at his temples.
He was supposed to be comforting Juniper, but as he spoke, he started crying himself.
"Dad, why are you crying?" Juniper quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe his eyes.
"It's all my fault. You and Saffron had accidents, it must be God punishing me. But why not punish me directly, why hurt my daughters, God..." Aaron sobbed, "It's all my fault, I'm sorry to you and Saffron, I hurt you both."
"It's not your fault, it was an accident," Juniper quickly comforted him, "Don't be sad, I can still have children, you'll have grandchildren."
"I'm useless, and now you have to comfort me," Aaron choked up, "Juniper, I will pray more for you and Saffron in the future, you will both be safe and sound."
"We will." Juniper thought, at least she still had a family who loved her. For their sake, she had to pull herself together, to be worthy of the child she lost.
At night, Juniper waited for Anthony in the hospital room.
He had been with her these past few days, and she had become more dependent on him. She missed him as soon as he was out of sight.
She wanted to call and ask where he was, but was afraid of being too clingy and putting pressure on him, so she held back.
Suddenly, the lights in the hospital room went out.
Anthony walked in with a cake and a bouquet of flowers, the candle flames lighting up the room.
Juniper was surprised, "A cake? It's not my birthday, but..."
Anthony walked up to her, and while she was still in a daze, he suddenly knelt on one knee.
Realizing what he was about to do, Juniper's whole body trembled, he...
"Juniper, marry me." Anthony presented a diamond ring.
Juniper was completely flustered, she hadn't expected him to propose at a time like this.
"How could... now... in the hospital."
"I... I didn't put on makeup, haven't washed my hair in two days, I look a mess." She rambled, tears uncontrollably falling, "Anthony..."
"I... I..." It was like she was suffocating, she didn't know what to say.
"I know you want to say there's no romantic candlelight dinner, no grand ceremony, but this is the most appropriate time I could think of."
"I'm not proposing because of what happened, but because I've always loved you, always wanted to marry you."
"Juniper, I've never stopped hoping you'd become my wife, never stopped loving you, never stopped wanting you to be mine."
"For the long journey ahead, I want to walk it with you, face all the difficulties together. Share happiness and sweetness, raise our children together, travel the world and see every sunrise and sunset, experience the most wonderful moments of life together. My life without you would be empty, meaningless."
"You've given me new hopes for the future, made my life more complete, given me more to look forward to, made me more excited about the future. You've made my soul more complete. I hope you can give me a chance to hold your hand and walk through the rest of our lives together."
"Juniper, marry me."
