Chapter 640: Waiting for the Right Moment
Juniper spun around. In the dim light, she spotted Douglas strolling in with some hot chick in a leopard print dress, laughing it up as they headed to the private room.
"No wonder he's a dirtbag, out chasing tail again," Jessica muttered.
Juniper smirked, not even a little shocked. A leopard doesn't change its spots. She always knew Douglas would cheat again, and Saffron had no chance of keeping him on a leash. But hey, none of them were saints, and she was just waiting for the drama to unfold.
"I'm hitting the restroom," Juniper said, grabbing her phone.
"You sure? I can tag along."
"Nah, I got this."
Once she left, Juniper tailed Douglas to the private room area, ready to snap some incriminating pics.
But Douglas was MIA. She started peeking into each private room, and just as she was snooping around, a hand yanked her hard.
"Well, well, Juniper, stalking me now?" Douglas sneered.
Juniper's heart skipped a beat as she was shoved against the wall, her head smacking it. Douglas stood there with a creepy grin, looking like a total psycho.
Crap, she was busted. Juniper tried to play it cool, "Who's taking pics of you? Is this your bar? You can be here, but I can't?"
"Let go," she snapped, twisting her wrist.
Douglas tightened his grip. "You think I'm dumb? Why are you following me? Trying to set me up for Saffron?"
"Set you up? I saw you all over another chick. Do I need to set you up? It's plain as day."
"You're blind."
"Blind? Douglas, this ain't your first rodeo. Once a cheater, always a cheater. No shocker there. You can't change who you are," Juniper shot back.
"But you got no proof. Why would Saffron believe you? She'll just think you're stirring the pot."
"Even if I am, I'd enjoy it."
"So you admit you're tailing me? Saffron's pregnant, and you still wanna mess with us. Do you still have a thing for me?"
Juniper made a face, "A thing for you? Don't make me puke. I'm gonna hurl."
Douglas grabbed her chin, "I'm not as gross as you. Acting all high and mighty, but the moment you see Mr. Eilish, you latch onto him and sleep with him. You're just a cheap slut! I was dumb enough to wait for you till our wedding night. I actually believed you!"
"Let go!"
Douglas held on tighter, "Look at Anthony, half-dead. Bet he's lousy in bed, huh? Can he satisfy you? You seem so pissed, is it 'cause you're not getting any? Want me to make you feel good?"
"Douglas, your sleaziness just hit a new low!"
"Stop pretending. You're not some saint! Come on, I'll make you feel good!" Douglas, a bit tipsy, pressed against her, rubbing, with a hint of seduction. Damn, her body was soft and smelled amazing, and her figure was way hotter than Saffron's.
And the forbidden fruit is always the sweetest. Douglas wanted to rip off her mask and see her wild side beneath him.
"Juniper, you really know how to drive me crazy!" Douglas growled.
Juniper was about to lose it, "Get off me, don't touch me!"
"How about we take this somewhere else?"
"Get lost!" Juniper kneed him in the groin.
Douglas doubled over, clutching his crotch, his face red with pain, "Juniper!"
Juniper sneered like a queen, "Scumbags like you don't deserve to touch me!"
Little did they know, a camera in the corner had caught their little scuffle and quietly vanished.
"Why'd you take so long? I thought something happened to you," Jessica asked, all worried.
"I'm a grown-ass woman in my twenties. What could possibly happen to me?" Juniper shrugged, taking a sip of her drink. "This is lame, let's bounce!"
"Okay," Jessica nodded quickly and flagged down a cab.
In the back seat, Juniper leaned her head against the window, watching the neon lights blur by. Anthony's face popped into her mind again.
Her smile twisted with a bitter edge.
He thought so little of her, had long forgotten her, so why was she still hung up on him?
She thought, 'Anthony, I gave it my all, but you pushed me away. From now on, I'm done with you, done with you.'
Juniper suddenly felt a lump in her throat, feeling a bit choked up.
In a dim room, only the phone screen glowed.
Saffron clutched her phone tightly, her eyes blazing with anger.
She had suspected Douglas of messing around, so she hired a private detective to tail him. She didn't expect to catch him with another woman, and Juniper too.
They were in a bar, so close, it looked like they were kissing.
The thought of them sneaking around behind her back countless times made Saffron furious.
She had seduced Douglas first, sneaking off to a hotel with him. So was Juniper using the same trick to get back at her?
Saffron cursed inwardly, 'Juniper, you bitch!'
Saffron was so mad she wanted to smash her phone, but she held back, narrowing her eyes, 'Juniper, you won't get away with this.'
Downstairs.
Juniper came home reeking of booze. Aaron was waiting for her in the living room.
Aaron was waiting for her in the living room, "Look at you, stinking of alcohol. You hit the bar again? Why do you do this? Those places are so sketchy. You're a girl, going there is like walking into a lion's den."
Juniper, a bit tipsy, found Aaron's nagging like an annoying fly, "Why are you so damn annoying? Shut up."
"Annoying? I'm worried about you! Why can't you just behave? Look at Saffron, staying home like a good girl every day. Can't you take a page from her book?"
Juniper laughed bitterly, "Take a page from her? Learn what? How to be a mistress like her mom, stealing my boyfriend?"
"That was ages ago. Why can't you let it go? You have Mr. Eilish now, isn't that better? Be grateful! Stop hitting the bars, or Mr. Eilish will dump you!"
Hearing Anthony's name felt like a needle stabbing her temple, "Mr. Eilish and I already broke up."
"What did you say?" Aaron jumped up from the couch, "Mr. Eilish dumped you?"
"Yeah, he dumped me," Juniper laughed bitterly. He had wronged her without knowing the truth and told her never to show her face again. Wasn't that dumping her?
Aaron panicked, "What happened? Is it 'cause you go to bars all the time? I told you to stay away from those places. What guy can put up with that? Especially Mr. Eilish. Look at you now. Hitting bars and throwing fits, no wonder Mr. Eilish broke up with you. I told you to behave, but you had to do things your way. Are you doing this to spite me? Do you know you're ruining yourself?"
"Mr. Eilish liking you was a stroke of luck. You should've cherished it," Aaron continued.
