Chapter 344 I Resign
The whole room fell silent and no one dared to breathe.
The room was filled with an eerie and awkward atmosphere.
The office was as quiet as a chill. Helping Levi at this moment would be like ruining one's own job.
The way to survive in the company had always been to support the boss, whoever the boss was. Challenging the boss was simply seeking death!
Levi opened his mouth, wanting to confront her, but in the end, he swallowed his words. "You're ruthless."
He went to tidy up the office.
"Come and help me."
"Don't you have hands?" Fanny asked, "You're not the CEO anymore, so clean up yourself!"
"I..."
"What do you want to say? If you're not satisfied, go see Miss Eilish. But it's useless. You heard it clearly. Miss Eilish said, from now on, I am the one in charge of this company, and everything is under my control. From now on, you're just a manager."
Levi was about to walk out of the office, but then he hurried back. "Just a manager? But I have shares."
"Is it 80% of the shares more or 20%? If I tell this to Miss Eilish, she’ll buy all your shares!"
Levi's face turned pale. Brightness Design Company was the fruit of his labor and vision, and that was why he hadn't sold all his shares for money.
"Are you threatening me? Do you think Miss Eilish will obey you?"
"Try it and you'll see." Fanny smirked coldly.
Levi was trembling with anger. He finally understood what a woman's heart was like. Fanny was like a viper, a mad dog. She was here for revenge against him!
But there was nothing he could do, so he just stormed into the office angrily.
He made a lot of noise with forceful movements.
Fanny smiled smugly, her gaze lazy and sharp. "Why are you so quiet? Have you offended me before and are you afraid of me retaliating?"
No one dared to speak up. Of course they were afraid. She was the CEO now, and she held power over each of them. She could decide who stays and who goes. They couldn't help but feel terrified.
Fanny's gaze slowly fell on Layla. "Are you scared?"
She detested this despicable person more compared to Levi.
Dozens of people looked at Layla, but she remained silent.
"If you're scared, kneel down now and kowtow to me a few times, and I can spare you, how about that?" Fanny crossed her arms, extremely pleased.
"I have a clear conscience." Layla replied with just one sentence.
"A clear conscience? A despicable person like you has no conscience at all. You’ll climb into any high-level executive's bed just to sign a deal. Wasn't that deal with the Sheeran Group the result of your efforts? Evelyn, from now on, you'll be responsible for that deal," Fanny sneered.
"Thank you, Fanny." Evelyn Sterling was extremely excited.
What a turn of events! Evelyn had been about to quit, feeling like she couldn't continue, but a big opportunity had arose suddenly!
Levi rushed out of the office, vehemently opposing this. "No. The Sheeran Group clearly stated that only Layla can handle this project, no one else."
"Levi, you can't even protect yourself, yet you're protecting her. True love, huh?"
"You're talking nonsense! I'm doing this for the company. Miss Eilish wants to make money too. What if this project fails? Can you take responsibility for that?" Levi said.
"Of course I can. Let me tell you, even if we lose this project, we can't let Layla take over. Otherwise, people will think that all the designers at Brightness Design Company rely on selling themselves to sign deals, which will ruin our reputation."
"Fanny is right. Reputation is everything."
"Yes, Fanny's decisions are always correct."
"We must change personnel."
"I support Fanny."
This time, everyone echoed Fanny in unison.
At this moment, if they didn’t support her, they could be fired at any moment.
"I can’t believe all of you!" Levi was so angry he couldn't speak. If this continued, Fanny would ruin Brightness Design Company.
Fanny's gaze returned to Layla, triumphantly 'judging' her fate. "As for you, from now on, you'll be my assistant doing odd jobs."
"Fanny is so kind. She used to offend you so much. You should have fired her."
"That's right."
"Fanny is really nice."
Despite Fanny's smug ruthlessness, Layla remained calm. "Give me my salary for the month. I resign."
"You're often late, you leave early, and you’ve been absent without reason for half a month. And now you want your salary?" Fanny laughed. "Have you even worked for a month?"
"We can check the attendance."
"Why should we check the attendance? Your absenteeism is a fact. You have violated the company rules, and you still have the nerve to ask for a salary?"
"Yeah, you're corrupting the company's atmosphere. Fanny is already being lenient by not holding you accountable. If you want to leave, then leave. Don't expect a penny."
"That's right."
The other colleagues joined forces against Layla, acting as if she had committed a heinous crime.
In this situation, Layla didn't feel upset or scared. She just found it all ridiculous. They were just a bunch of clowns.
"I'm a designer, not an assistant."
"Weren't you just an intern at the Holland Group before? Who do you think you are now?"
"If Levi didn’t value you, where would you be?"
"Do you think you're too talented to be the CEO's assistant? I think it's a promotion."
"You think too highly of yourself. Wake up! You need to understand what’s going on," they echoed.
They all wanted her gone, and Layla didn't want to stay either. It wasn’t because she was afraid. She would be wasting a lot of time fighting with these people in the future, which would be a waste of life. But why shouldn't she get paid? She had put in a lot of effort. She wasn't working for free.
Fanny saw through her thoughts and smiled coldly. "You want your salary, right? You want to be a designer? Alright. I'm generous, so I'll give you a chance."
"Fanny."
Everyone was surprised by her sudden kindness, only to hear Fanny say, "The company doesn't need useless employees. Even if your designs are great, if you can't close a deal, it's worthless. If you want to stay here, go and negotiate yourself. If you can't close a deal, get lost!"
Fanny's eyes turned sharp.
Everyone understood her meaning. This was a ruthless move.
After understanding Fanny's intentions, Cassandra eagerly spoke up. "Fanny, why not let her handle Leonard Hawthorne's deal for me?"
When they heard Leonard’s name, everyone's eyes subtly conveyed a shared understanding, mixed with schadenfreude.
Leonard was a rich man, but he was also a pervert. Every attractive female designer who had been sent to his company had experienced his inappropriate advances. He had stated before that if a married female designer slept with him, he would sign the contract. The last female designer resigned, and Cassandra had taken over.
And the reason Cassandra hadn't closed the deal in six months was because she wasn't attractive. At five feet five inches tall, she weighed over 120 pounds, and couldn’t get Leonard's attention. He kept delaying signing the contract, hoping that Brightness Design Company would send a more attractive female designer to him.
Cassandra couldn't wait to pass this mess on to Layla.
