Chapter 381 Is the Counterattack Enjoyable?

However, no matter which hotel Fanny and the others they went to, they were refused check-in as soon as they presented their identification. They argued with the staff at front desk, only to end up being kicked out.

In the end, they found a rundown and old inn that had a strong sour smell, where they stayed with some workers who eyed them suspiciously, as if they were rabbits caught in a trap.

Fanny stayed in a room alone, while the other five squeezed into a dilapidated room with three beds.

"Quick, close the door."

"Did you see the way that worker was staring at me just now? It felt like he was going to rape me, it was so scary."

"Is the door locked? I don't want them to barge in at night."

"Just one kick would break that door it open, it’s useless to lock it."

"What should we do then? Should we leave? I'm scared. There's not even a manager here, no one would know if something happened in the middle of the night."

"It's even more dangerous outside."

One timid girl started crying. "We were supposed to have a good time at the resort, but now it's turned into this mess. Cassandra, it's all your fault. If you hadn't gone to bother Layla, we wouldn't be in this mess."

"It’s all my fault? Didn't you all scold her?" Cassandra retorted indignantly, gritting her teeth. "Who exactly is the sugar daddy behind that bitch? Even Miss Eilish is afraid of her."

"He even has the power to make all the hotels refuse to let us stay. How terrifying."

"Let's apologize to her so she’ll spare us. We really can't afford to offend the people behind her."

"Yes, let's apologize."

"Would apologizing work right now?" Cassandra stood with her arms akimbo, looking fierce. "Do you think she'll forgive you just because you apologize? She's not that kind."

"What should we do then? Even Fanny can't compete with her. We ordinary people can’t do anything. We just have to stay in an inn this time, who knows what will happen next time."

"Cassandra, you led the way and doomed us."

Cassandra’s eyes widened. "I've doomed you? Did I beg you to follow me? You all were just flattering Fanny to try to save your jobs, and now you're shifting all the blame to me? How ridiculous."

They were left speechless by Cassandra's retort.

They all knew they were trying to protect themselves, and shifting all the blame to Cassandra would make them feel a bit better. Now that Cassandra was directly confronting them, there was a bit of resentment and dissatisfaction on their faces.

Cassandra continued, "You can go seek refuge with Layla now, but I guarantee you'll be fired by tomorrow. Go ahead if you want, I won't stop you."

After a moment of silence, they changed the subject, saying, "We're so tired, let's sleep now and talk in the morning."

"It's too dangerous here, I don’t dare sleep. How about we take turns to keep watch? It's safer that way."

"Good idea."

Cassandra stretched lazily. "You guys take turns, I'm going to sleep."

The other four looked at each other, and one of them said, "Cassandra, you caused all this trouble today, so you should be on duty."

"I agree. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be stuck in this ghostly place."

"I agree too."

"Don't go overboard. Are you bullying me?"

"What do you mean? You’re the reason we're in this mess. It’s good enough that we're not blaming you. Everyone has decided to do this. We're going to sleep now, you better keep your eyes wide open. Don't fall asleep." With that, they ignored her and went to sleep in pairs on one bed.

Cassandra was furious. She cursed and threw things, but no one paid her any attention.

At the resort, as Layla entered the presidential suite, she was deeply impressed by the luxury inside.

She had stayed in many luxury hotels with Samuel before, and her standards were quite high, but this suite truly lived up to its reputation as the world's number one presidential suite. It was incredibly luxurious.

It had two floors, a central spiral staircase, and hundreds of square meters, resembling a villa. The suite featured a home theater, gym, bar, piano, and everything one could ask for, complete with a beautiful female housekeeper.

Layla felt like a princess living in a castle.

She needed to commemorate her stay in the world's top presidential suite.

Layla took out her phone and was busy taking selfies and photos when her phone rang.

"Have you checked in?"

"Yes, I've checked in." Layla smiled happily. "It's super luxurious here, it's amazing."

"Can I video call you?" Samuel inquired.

Layla hung up the phone and started a video call, waving brightly at the screen. "Hello, can you see me? That's the bar over there, they have all kinds of drinks, and they're free."

"You can't drink," Samuel said.

"I know. I mean those drinks are expensive.

"Is that sculpture really made of gold? It's so extravagant.

"There's also a gym over there."

Samuel couldn't help but chuckle as Layla showed him around excitedly. "Be careful, don't jump around too much."

"I'm just so excited. Why are you laughing? Are you saying I'm inexperienced? I've stayed in high-end hotels too, but this is the most luxurious presidential suite in the world. Is it really fifty thousand dollars a night?"

"The price doesn't matter," Samuel said.

"You’re rich, huh? Don't do this next time, it's too expensive. I feel sorry because it costs fifty thousand dollars a night. Fifty dollars would be enough."

"How could I let my girl stay at such a cheap hotel?"

"My apartment is almost the same," Layla said.

"It's different, that's home," Samuel said.

Layla smiled. "You’re sweet." She then vividly recounted to him the troubles Cassandra and the others had faced. "They were all wide-eyed when they were thrown out. Do you know how it feels to fight back? It's so satisfying!"

"It seems like the fifty thousand dollars was well worth it," Samuel said.

"You spent fifty thousand dollars to retaliate against them. They don't deserve it."

"I don't care whether they deserve it or not, I just want my woman to be happy."

"The housekeeper is still here." Layla blushed as she reminded him.

"You said it was satisfying."

"I meant it was satisfying to retaliate against them."

"Aren’t saying the same thing?"

Layla clearly saw Samuel's wicked smile. What a despicable man.

"Alright, alright, I'm planning to take a nice bath, then sleep comfortably in the fifty-thousand-dollar-a-night presidential suite. Goodnight."

"Are you abandoning me for a room? Is the room more important than me?" Samuel asked.

Layla teased him. "Are you jealous of a room now? How childish."

"Answer me."

With a twinkle in her eyes, Layla answered seriously, "Sleep is more important right now."

"You heartless woman, you only care about your sleep."

"All women are like this."

On the video call, Samuel suddenly let out a long sigh, staring blankly at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Layla asked.

Suddenly, Samuel seemed to freeze, staring at her motionlessly.
