Chapter 757 Unexpected Situation
"You can take Anthony away, but I won't leave. I'll stay in Harmony City, and I'll continue with this project. You can't control me."
"You should be concerned about Anthony. If his heart is with you, no one can take him away. If it's not, any woman could steal him."
"Instead of worrying about this and that, think about how to win his heart."
"Judging by your current attitude, you seem so frantic and unsure. I don't think Anthony loves you that much."
Hera almost broke down in tears from anger. She had endured so much from Anthony, and now Juniper was giving her grief too. How could she be so unfortunate!
"You'll regret not leaving."
"I'll regret it if I do." Juniper suddenly felt very irritated and left without wanting to stay a second longer.
"I won't let you off, Juniper. Just you wait!" Hera shouted at her back, clenching her fists tightly.
'You're forcing me! I want you dead! Juniper, I want you dead!' Hera thought viciously.
In the morning, Juniper's car was stuck in traffic, with piano music playing inside.
Whenever she was tired, faced problems at work, or felt agitated, she would listen to these calming tunes.
She could understand why men liked to stay in their cars for a while. In this small space, one could forget many things, like worries and stress.
Her phone rang.
"Where are you?" Brice asked.
"Almost there, ten minutes."
"Something came up on my end, I have to run an errand, might be a bit late," Brice said apologetically.
"No problem, if you're busy, I can go alone."
"No way, the construction site is so chaotic. How can I let a girl go alone?"
"Come on, did you forget I work in real estate? I've been to countless construction sites, I'm used to it."
"But I'll still worry. Besides, I don't want to miss any chance to see you. I'll get there as soon as I can, no later than half an hour. Wait for me."
Juniper hung up the phone.
Her right eyelid started twitching for no reason.
She rubbed her eyelid.
At the construction site, Juniper wore a hard hat and inspected the area.
The workers stared at her in awe.
"That woman is so beautiful."
"Yeah, she's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
"Her skin is great, and she's got a great figure. It's amazing she's at a construction site."
"Do you think if I asked her out for a drink tonight, she'd say yes?"
"Stop dreaming, she's a senior employee, not like us."
"So what? You know some women who look proper are actually..."
"Don't overthink it."
One of the workers, wearing a hard hat, quietly moved behind a pillar and pulled a rope while everyone was talking.
"Watch out!" someone shouted.
Juniper looked up to see a metal frame collapsing above her. She quickly dodged, but the frame still hit her shoulder.
It hurt a lot.
At the hospital.
When Brice rushed in, the nurse had just finished bandaging Juniper.
"Is it serious? Does it hurt? Let me see," Brice asked, worried.
"It's nothing, just a minor injury."
"Don't be tough. I heard from the workers it was serious. If you hadn't reacted quickly, the rebar could have pierced your leg, and you'd be crippled. Our site is usually safe, how did this happen?"
"I don't know either. Luckily, it's not serious. It just grazed my right shoulder, breaking some skin. It's already treated."
Juniper spoke lightly, not wanting Brice to worry too much, but she was actually quite scared.
If she hadn't dodged in time, she might have died. She would probably have a fear of construction sites for a long time.
"Just rest well. Nurse, how many days does she need to stay?"
"Around three days," the nurse replied.
"Three days? No way, our project is tight. I don't have that much time to rest," Juniper said quickly.
"But you're practically one-armed now. How can you work?"
"I still have my left hand."
"Can you type and sign with one hand?"
"I..."
"Don't worry, leave it to me. I'm efficient, I can handle the work of two people."
Seeing his confident assurance, Juniper nodded, "Sorry for the trouble."
"It's no trouble, I'm happy to take care of you. I'll bring my work to the hospital."
"Isn't that inconvenient?"
"No, as long as there's a computer, work is the same anywhere. Plus, with you in the hospital, we can discuss things easily. Phone calls are more troublesome."
"That's true."
Brice was pleased to have convinced her. He wanted to use this opportunity to show himself, hoping their relationship would improve.
"I'll go get you lunch, and have my assistant bring the computer and files in the afternoon."
"Okay."
After Brice left, the nurse said, "Your colleague likes you." She sounded certain.
"You misunderstood, he's just a nice and enthusiastic person," Juniper smiled.
"No, his eyes clearly show he likes you. You can lie about anything, but not your eyes. I think office romance is nice. And your colleague is so handsome, many girls at the company must like him."
Juniper smiled helplessly, not knowing how to respond.
"Think about it, or I'll go after him," the nurse said, half-jokingly.
Juniper thought of saying, 'Should I give you his contact?' but decided against it, thinking it wasn't appropriate.
At dinner, Brice fed Juniper porridge spoon by spoon and wiped her mouth.
Juniper laughed, "You're taking such good care of me, I feel like a useless person."
"Even if you are, it's okay. I'm willing to take care of you, always," Brice said warmly, "as long as you let me."
Juniper looked away, her eyelashes fluttering, "I think it's better to rely on myself."
"You're too strong, never relying on men. But even the most outstanding women, like you, need men around. Girls need to be cared for and protected. You don't have to be so tense, men aren't that scary."
'Men aren't scary, but wrong relationships are,' Juniper thought.
Her last two relationships ended badly, leaving her with a fear of dating, afraid of drama, afraid of giving her heart and not getting a good outcome, afraid of getting hurt.
"Do you know what feeling you give me?" Brice asked, looking into her eyes.
