Chapter 767 How Did the Test Turn Out?
Nighttime at the bar.
"Welcome back!" Ronnie and Juniper clinked their glasses.
She took a hearty sip of beer.
"I told you, your dad's fine. You can relax now, right?"
"But he's aged a lot. I'm still very worried..." Juniper said anxiously. "He's not in great shape."
"Everyone gets old, it's normal. Once he's out of the hospital, he just needs to rest and exercise more, and he'll be fine," Ronnie comforted her.
He added, "My dad was hospitalized with liver disease before, and he was really down. But look at him now, full of energy and always threatening to beat me up."
Juniper smiled, "You do deserve a beating."
"I'm trying to comfort you, and you say that. Your mouth is really sharp. Good thing you're not my girlfriend, or I'd be getting roasted every day."
"Correction, I didn't want to be your girlfriend. I rejected you, okay?"
"Even if you begged me now, I wouldn't give you a chance. There are so many gentle and beautiful women out there, why would I want a..."
Ronnie couldn't bring himself to say "average" about her stunning face, so he coughed, "a good-looking but acid-tongued one? I'm not that masochistic."
Juniper sneered.
"By the way, who is your boyfriend? What's his name? How does he look? Is he more handsome than me? Show me a picture."
"Can you stop being so nosy?" Juniper glared at him.
"Come on, show me!"
"I don't have one."
"So you made up this boyfriend to fool me, right?"
"Why would I lie to you? There's no need. We just started dating."
"Oh, then it probably won't last long," Ronnie took a sip of his drink.
"Nonsense!" Juniper pushed him.
"So you're serious about this?"
"When have I ever not been serious about a relationship? Do I look like someone who plays with feelings? If I'm in a relationship, it's with marriage in mind. Unlike you, a playboy."
"Alright. So if you're with him, are you planning to settle abroad?"
Juniper was silent for a moment, her brow furrowing, "I don't know. I can't leave my dad alone here. Elara and her daughter are like wolves, always eyeing my dad's assets. Something's bound to happen."
"Then bring your dad abroad for a while?"
"He wouldn't get used to it, especially with his health right now."
"Then go back home and break up with your boyfriend."
Juniper was in a dilemma. She hadn't expected Aaron to age so quickly. Blood is thicker than water; she couldn't bear to leave him alone back home.
"By the way... Anthony's wedding is in a week, you know that, right?"
"Yeah," Juniper said indifferently.
"Do you think God is torturing you on purpose? Holding the wedding just when you return home."
"What difference does it make where I am when he gets married?" Juniper smiled and asked, "To be precise, whether he gets married or not has nothing to do with me."
"Do you really not care?"
Juniper shook her head, "I don't care at all."
"You're not pretending?"
Juniper still smiled and asked him back, "Do I look like someone who pines for someone else's husband?"
"Not really, but..."
"No buts, I just don't! I'm not at that point. Besides, don't I already have a boyfriend?"
"As long as you understand, that's good. The worst is when you seem fine on the outside but are actually conflicted inside."
"That's not the case at all. Don't worry about me, worry about yourself."
"What do I have to worry about? I'm so happy right now."
"Is physical pleasure really enough?"
"Yes, as long as I'm healthy, it's enough!" Ronnie said without hesitation, looking very satisfied.
Alright, maybe she was too "shallow," her bad.
Everyone has different thoughts and lifestyles. As long as they don't hurt others, Juniper never judges others' views on relationships.
But being a homewrecker, that definitely hurts others, is absolutely wrong, and is something she would never do.
"As long as you're happy."
"I'm quite happy. As a friend, I hope you're happy too, in whatever way. If you still like Anthony, I'll help you get him back!"
"Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not interested in other people's men." Juniper patted her stomach, "I'm going to the restroom."
She had just left when a video call came in.
"Brice?" Ronnie raised an eyebrow, an intrigued smile spreading across his face as he swiped to answer her phone.
"Hi, baby..."
On the other end, Brice's face froze when he saw him, "Who are you?"
"Me? I'm Juniper's boyfriend," Ronnie said with a mischievous smile.
"Impossible! I'm her boyfriend," Brice immediately emphasized.
"Well, that's a coincidence. Hello, Boyfriend No. 2, I'm Boyfriend No. 1."
"Stop making such boring jokes."
"I'm not. One boyfriend for home, one for abroad, isn't that normal?" Ronnie grinned.
Brice was furious, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll beat you up!"
"Come on, fly over here, I'm waiting for you." Ronnie held back his laughter.
'So easy to anger, quite naive.' he thought.
"What are you doing? Give me my phone back," Juniper snatched it away.
"Juniper, that jerk said he's your Boyfriend No. 1," Brice said angrily.
"Don't talk nonsense," Juniper scolded him with a glare.
"I'm not talking nonsense. Didn't you say I was your boyfriend before? How can you do this? Fickle! I won't accept this..." Ronnie kept pestering.
"Stop it, go away," Juniper pushed him aside.
"Don't listen to him. He's just a friend who likes to mess around," Juniper explained to Brice.
"A good friend? You seem very close. Does he like you?" Brice asked jealously.
"No, he's just a playboy with too many women to count. Nothing to do with me."
"Okay, I believe you, but I still don't like him."
Ronnie immediately leaned close to the screen, "You don't like me? I don't like you either. Come on, let's fight."
"A gentleman uses his words, not his fists. Since you're Juniper's friend, I won't argue with you. I trust Juniper."
"I think you're just scared..." Ronnie made a face at him, "Coward!"
"Get lost!"
Juniper chatted with Brice for a bit before hanging up, then turned to Ronnie with a stern face, "Can you stop talking nonsense in front of my boyfriend?"
"I'm doing this for your own good."
"Impersonating my boyfriend and stirring up trouble with my real boyfriend is for my own good?"
"How else would you know what kind of person he is?" Ronnie said righteously, "I'm helping you test him."
She wouldn't believe him!
Juniper asked with a smile, "Oh, and what were the results of your test?"
