Chapter 652: Difficult Rich People
Other chicks might fall for Ronnie's cocky, bad-boy vibe, but Juniper had seen enough players to know it was anything but charming. In fact, it made her want to puke. She couldn't stand these womanizers. That's why she got duped by Douglas's fake serious act.
"Watch it, or you're gonna land yourself in hot water one day," Juniper warned.
"If it's with you, I'm game," Ronnie shot back.
Juniper just shook her head. To her, he was nothing but a joke.
"Don't you think I'm good enough? At least I'm better than Anthony. I got the guts to face him head-on, and I go after you without any BS. He can't even admit he likes you. I'm way more upfront than he is."
Juniper sneered, "I don't think so. Actually, I find your behavior super childish. Mr. Eilish is way more mature and charming than you."
"Whatever, say what you want. I know I'm better than him. Let's not talk about him anymore. Let's just enjoy our date."
"This isn't a date. I only got in your car 'cause I had no other choice," Juniper snapped, not wanting to waste another second with him. "I know what you're up to. I know your type too well."
"You know me well? Are we on the same page?"
Who would joke around with him?
"You don't actually like me. You're just interested 'cause I'm not throwing myself at you like the others. But if we got involved, you'd lose interest and ditch me in no time."
"You're also super proud. You think it's my lucky day that someone like you is interested in a lowly secretary, which strokes your ego. But you'll be disappointed. I'm not Cinderella. I'm just like you, from a rich family. Aaron Cooper, the president of the Cooper Group, is my dad," Juniper had always kept a low profile, and no one at the company knew she was a rich heiress. But if it could get Ronnie off her back, she had to spill the beans.
"You're the Cooper family heiress?" Ronnie asked, intrigued.
"That's right, so don't think you can buy me off. I got plenty of money and don't care about yours. I've seen through the flaws of rich folks like you, got it?"
"OK, then let's get hitched."
Juniper looked at him like he was nuts.
"You're special. I'm really into you, and my family's on my case to get married. Marrying you would kill two birds with one stone," Ronnie continued.
Juniper sneered, "If you're crazy, go see a shrink before it's too late."
"I'm serious. You know it's the right move. I can't marry a girl from an ordinary family."
Of course, he was so selfish. Juniper despised him even more. She hated the idea of "marriage alliances," being used as a pawn.
To guys like him, love was just a fun game. In the end, they'd pick someone who benefited their family.
Almost all the rich dudes around her thought this way, but Juniper would never.
"Can I tell you to go to hell?"
"You really know how to insult someone. But isn't my proposal pretty solid? I don't think you're so high and mighty. If you didn't want to find someone of equal status, why would you be with Anthony? If you found a poor guy, I'd respect you, even if it was dumb. Since you're also looking for someone wealthy, don't act all high and mighty in front of me."
"I'm not acting all high and mighty. When it comes to character, Anthony's a thousand times better than you. Even if he wasn't loaded, he'd still be charming and capable. But you? Without the Woods family, you'd be toast."
Ronnie raised an eyebrow, "So you admit you're into Anthony?"
Juniper froze.
She'd walked right into his trap.
Juniper gritted her teeth, "I like Anthony, but I'm not his girlfriend. He doesn't like me."
"I doubt that. He seems pretty into you. But you two won't be together 'cause you'll be my girl."
"You're seriously delusional," Juniper shook her head. She couldn't stand overly confident people. Ronnie was everything she despised. Be with someone like him? What a joke. She'd rather die.
"Alright, let's drop it. Whether you're a lowly secretary or the Cooper Group heiress, I'm into you. Let's date."
Juniper was forced to have dinner with Ronnie and then went home.
The car stopped in front of the Cooper family mansion.
Juniper unbuckled her seatbelt and emphasized, "Let me make this clear one last time. I've had dinner with you, so don't come to the company looking for me again, and don't mess with Anthony, or I won't let you off."
Ronnie smirked, "Maybe I don't want you to let me off?"
"I'm not joking. Stay away from me. This is the last time we'll meet. Goodbye!" Juniper said firmly and got out of the car.
"Wait..." Ronnie caught up, "I was a gentleman and brought you home instead of taking you to a hotel. Can't we at least be friends?"
Juniper laughed, "You didn't take me to bed because I'm from the Cooper family. If I were just a secretary, tonight would've been dangerous."
"Haha, you're still too naive. I'm not afraid of Anthony, why would I fear the Cooper family? If I really wanted to sleep with you, it wouldn't matter whose daughter you are. I'm genuinely pursuing you."
"Then I'm genuinely telling you, it's not happening. Get lost!"
"Interesting, I like your fiery temper."
"Because you're shameless."
Since he was so brazen, Juniper didn't mind being even harsher.
"Fine, we'll take our time. Sleep well. But you forgot something?"
"What? A punch?"
"No, a goodnight kiss."
Before Juniper could escape, Ronnie grabbed her and kissed her on the cheek.
"Ronnie!" Juniper was furious and kneed him in the abdomen, but Ronnie dodged quickly. He said smugly, "You missed."
"See you tomorrow, Juniper," Ronnie blew her a kiss.
Juniper shook her fist at him. How could someone be so annoying? She really wanted to punch him hard.
She had to find a way to get rid of him.
Upstairs, Saffron stood by the window, capturing the moment they kissed.
Saffron cursed inwardly, 'Juggling three men, Juniper, you're really something. You're just a slut.'
Saffron wanted to send the photo to Anthony immediately, but after the last incident, she hesitated, fearing the consequences.
After some thought, she called Douglas, "Honey, Juniper, she seems to be cheating."
