Chapter 739 Missing Each Other

Suddenly hearing that name without any warning, her heart couldn't help but tremble.

A flood of emotions washed over her.

"Juniper, are you still listening? Did I scare you? Don't worry, he's here for work, not to catch you."

"I know."

In his view, they were already over. How could he possibly come looking for her? He probably didn't even know she was in Libertonia now.

"I just happened to see it on the news yesterday. He should be there for work, on a business trip or something. It's normal. I just mentioned it, no other meaning."

"Okay."

Juniper thought, 'Libertonia is such a big country, I won't run into him.'

He might not even be coming to Harmony City.

The chances of meeting were probably one in a million, too small.

Yet even knowing this, her heart was still in turmoil.

"What? Scared? You haven't forgotten that guy, have you? My God, he's a thousand times worse than me, a thousand times! What on earth did you see in him?"

"It's all in the past." Juniper continued walking forward, as her life should, moving forward.

She took out her car keys and unlocked the car, the lights flashing twice.

She opened the car door, "I'm getting in the car, talk to you later."

"Alright, I have a date to go to as well. That young model is getting boring, do you think I should change..."

"Goodbye." She didn't want to hear about his affairs.

Juniper didn't start the car immediately, sitting quietly inside for a while.

Her mood was quite unsettled.

Shaking her head, she told herself, "It's all in the past."

She started the car.

The next morning, at Harmony City Airport.

People coming and going.

A striking figure walked out of the gate.

That face, gentle and noble, wearing a simple white shirt, exuding an air of elegance.

From head to toe, there were no conspicuous luxury items, yet he looked undeniably distinguished.

Almost as soon as he exited the gate, his phone rang.

"Off the plane?" a woman's gentle voice came through.

"Yes. Just arrived."

She knew his landing time.

Anthony didn't like this feeling of being closely watched.

Maybe it was concern, but this precise timing inevitably felt like a constraint.

"You'll be there for at least half a month, right? I'll have to handle the wedding alone again. Although you were busy when you were in the country, and I did a lot of things alone, I could still consult you. Now that you're abroad, with the time difference, it'll be even harder to reach you."

"As long as you like it." He said indifferently, as if discussing someone else's wedding.

"It's not just my wedding, your opinion is important too, okay? Never mind, I'll handle the other things first. The most important thing, the wedding dress, we'll wait for you to come back."

"Aren't you looking forward to seeing me in the wedding dress? I watched a compilation of grooms seeing their brides in wedding dresses yesterday, many of them cried, it was so touching."

Another face flashed before Anthony's eyes.

She would look beautiful in a wedding dress, right?

But he immediately banished her from his mind.

Whether he loved her or not, his bride was Hera, and that was an unchangeable fact.

From body to heart, he had to remain loyal.

"Okay."

"Anthony, our wedding is in a month." She said seriously, with a hint of reminder.

Anthony didn't know why she had to remind him deliberately.

"I know."

"Alright, I didn't mean anything by it, I'm just very happy."

"I'm leaving the airport, talk later."

"Remember to call me when you're done, and eat on time."

"Bye." He hung up the phone.

In August, the scorching sun of Libertonia was blazing.

As soon as he left the airport, a heatwave hit, everything was white and blinding, making people dizzy.

Anthony's vision went black.

In that instant, that face was particularly clear.

He didn't know why, but in a foreign land, he remembered her more clearly.

He didn't even know where she was, didn't dare to inquire about her, fearing that his already unsettled heart would be stirred again.

He wouldn't look for her again, but it wasn't because he had forgotten, just that there was now an added layer of moral restraint.

Anthony glanced at the ring on his ring finger; he had to remain loyal to Hera.

"Hi, handsome, can I get your contact info?" a cheerful blonde woman put her arm around his shoulder.

"Sorry, I'm engaged."

The blonde woman glanced at his ring, "Just for fun, I don't mind."

"I mind." Anthony said, brushing her hand off and getting into the Bentley.

Last night on the plane, he only slept for two hours. Today, he couldn't rest well either, having meetings all day until ten at night before returning to the hotel.

The driver dropped him off at the hotel entrance, "Mr. Eilish, good night."

"Thank you, good night."

Feeling a bit tired, Anthony didn't want to go back to the hotel. He liked peace and solitude, but being alone was also when he felt the emptiest inside, a feeling he didn't like.

So he wandered aimlessly along the long road.

Suddenly, a familiar figure flashed at the corner of his eye.

Juniper?

Anthony immediately turned his head, but the figure was gone.

His heart raced.

Maybe he was mistaken.

This was just another of his countless illusions.

There's a saying that goes, after falling in love with her, everyone you meet looks like her.

He just saw a resemblance, it wasn't her.

They couldn't meet in their own country, how could they meet thousands of miles away?

He smiled bitterly. He felt like he was under a spell, almost losing his mind.

Juniper... Juniper...

This name echoed in his dreams countless times, the reason he couldn't sleep well.

But what he didn't know was, that really was his dream-haunting Juniper.

Rarely not having to work late, Juniper felt particularly quiet and aimless in her small apartment.

Not wanting to be alone, she went out for a walk, to see the night view.

Unexpectedly, just a street away, was him.

Standing by the river, feeling the breeze, the night wind had a gentle scent.

Many memories came rushing back.

Another man tried to hit on her, a tall, handsome Virtalia man, but Juniper waved him off, saying she was already married.

She could visually appreciate his handsomeness, but her heart was closed, unable to let anyone in.

Jack's words had struck her heart, any woman who finds excuses to avoid love might have someone, a past, in her heart.

She didn't know how long it would take for her locked heart to open, a year, two years, or longer?

Looking at the orange lights on both sides of the river, she let out a bitter laugh. "Anthony, did you put a curse on me?"

"I will forget you, completely forget you..."

Two days later.

At the company, 8:50 AM.

Jack was in a formal suit today, looking particularly sharp and handsome.

"Seeing you in casual clothes all the time, it's hard to get used to this." Juniper smiled.

Everyone else in the company wore formal attire to work, except Jack.

He didn't like being constrained, and after the boss tried a few times to no avail, he gave up. After all, Jack was the company's top performer.

"Today we're receiving important guests, of course, we have to treat them with respect. The company is very hopeful about securing this collaboration."

"If you're leading, it'll definitely be a success."

"I still need your capable assistance." Jack patted her shoulder, "Let's go!"

They, along with a few senior executives, waited at the elevator.

The top-floor elevator opened.
