Chapter 281 Bone Marrow Match
It was Caleb.
Snowflakes fell on the screen, quickly turning into droplets.
The screen remained silent, blinking on and off.
Silently, Susan looked at the screen, but she didn't answer.
This madman. Didn't she make it clear to him already? Why was he calling?
The screen went dark, and it didn't light up again for a long time.
Oliver ran in the snow like a lively deer. Susan repeatedly reminded him not to run too fast.
"Be careful.
"Slow down, don't go crazy."
Soon after, Susan's phone rang again. This time, it was Francis's call. Susan answered.
"Why didn't you tell me about Oliver's illness?" Francis asked nervously as soon as she answered the phone.
He had found out.
"I didn't want to worry you."
"You don't want to worry me, but how can you bear all of this alone? Does Caleb know?"
"He doesn't need to know."
"Caleb may be despicable, but in this matter, I think you should still tell him. After all, he is Oliver's father."
"He doesn't need to know. As long as the surgery is done, Oliver will recover."
Everything will be fine after the surgery. Life would go back to how it was. Oliver would become healthy. It would definitely happen.
"Have they found a suitable bone marrow?"
"The doctor will arrange it. There are so many people. They will definitely find one."
"But if they can't find one, you still have to go to Caleb."
"We'll talk about it if they can't find one. Right now, I don't want him to know." Susan became somewhat cold. She placed one hand back into her pocket. "He already has a family. He has a lovely daughter. What difference will it make if I tell him? I have no expectations from him. I just hope we won't have any involvements."
Francis fell silent.
On the seventh day at the hospital, Susan went to the office to ask the doctor when the surgery could be done.
"Oliver's condition is very unique. We haven't found a matching bone marrow yet," the doctor said with a heavy expression.
"When will you find one?"
"We will do our best. The doctor can't guarantee when exactly we will find one. Every extra day is an additional risk. My suggestion is to look for her father. The probability of a successful match with him is high." The doctor knew Susan was a single mother.
"Maybe you have your difficulties, but for the sake of your child's life, it is better to arrange the surgery as soon as possible."
Susan’s face turned pale. Before she knew it, she had arrived at the hospital cafeteria.
Francis accompanied her to dinner. He handed her a piece of rib on her plate. As he looked at her increasingly haggard face, he felt sorry for her.
"When can they schedule the surgery?"
Susan told Francis what the doctor said.
"When do you plan to go see Caleb?" Francis asked after listening.
Susan lowered her head. "I don't want to beg him."
Because that would mean, Caleb would know Oliver is his child. She wasn't afraid of the consequences it would bring to herself, but she was afraid it would affect Oliver's future life. She couldn't dare to think about it.
"I understand how you feel, but Oliver is the most important. Lies can't last forever. He will know it sooner or later."
Susan rubbed her temples. "Let me think about it."
That night, Susan waited outside the Midnight Club for two hours. The temperature below freezing had frozen her whole body. She lost consciousness.
During dinner, she had a drink and then took a taxi to the Eilish Group, following Caleb's car here. She waited straight through, never mustering up the courage to go inside.
After eleven o'clock, Caleb came out with a beautiful woman in his arms.
The woman was excited and smiled happily. Because she heard that Caleb was taking a woman out for the first time. If she could sleep with Caleb, she would be very lucky.
"Mr. Eilish, you're so handsome.
"Mr. Eilish, where are we going?"
"Caleb..." A weak female voice was almost swallowed by the wind and snow.
But Caleb heard it, and he had seen it a long time ago. He saw Susan following him from the Eilish Group all the way here.
He stopped and turned around. Susan's face was frozen purple. Her lips were black, and she shivered all over.
She looked a bit disheveled and timid.
This was the first time Caleb had seen Susan like this. She didn't look proud at all.
He sneered and mocked her, "Isn't this our great designer Susan? What do you want? Do you have something to ask of me?
"Weren't you the one who said you wouldn't come find me again? Did you change your mind so quickly?
"What about your senior, who is a thousand times better than me? Why don't you go find him?"
"I have something very important to discuss with you."
"Who are you? Mr. Eilish is busy spending his time with me. Go away." The woman in Caleb's arms was afraid Caleb would be taken away from her. She showed great hostility toward Susan. "Mr. Eilish, let's go."
"Caleb..."
"Aren't you annoying?" The woman glared at her fiercely.
"I need your help."
"Mr. Eilish, let's ignore her. I'll treat you well tonight."
The two of them walked to the car.
"Caleb... please..." her voice drifted softly into Caleb's ears, so fragile and weak.
Caleb muttered under his breath and pushed away the beauty in his arms. He walked over and grabbed Susan's hand, pulling her into the car.
"Mr. Eilish..." the beauty tried to catch up.
The car door closed in front of her, narrowly missing her face. She was terrified.
Susan was pushed down onto the backseat. Caleb came in aggressively. She was squeezed into the small backseat, her head hitting the car door, causing some pain.
She couldn't help but let out a muffled groan.
"You're begging me, huh?
"Susan, what game are you playing again?
"Is it fun to toy with me?
"Do you think you can manipulate me?"
Caleb's angry voice filled the entire backseat.
His tone was impatient, filled with bitter accusations.
"What are you trying to say?" Susan choked up.
"Didn't you just beg me? Shouldn't I fuck you first this time?
"I won't let you play me again.
"Today, I'll teach you how to beg properly!" Caleb fumbled with her clothes, leaning down impatiently to kiss her.
"Ca..."
He bit down on her lips. Susan reached out to push his chest. But he grabbed her wrist so aggressively, forcefully pushing her hands apart.
Caleb's kiss was so intense that it jolted Susan. Outside the car, the woman was angrily cursing, surrounded by several bodyguards. They could vaguely see the situation inside.
Thinking of this, Susan felt even more ashamed and angry. She struggled hard, wanting to escape his dominating kiss.
"Caleb..."
"Aren't you asking me? If you can please me, I'll give you money, how about that?
"Susan..."
Her scent was simply enchanting, driving him mad.
Desire surged fiercely into Caleb's heart, occupying all of his rationality.
He wanted to have her. This damn woman.
Her clothes were torn, and Susan's eyes turned red.
Did he have to torture her like this?
If this could save Oliver, then she would give in.
Desperately, Susan closed her eyes and ceased her struggles.
