Chapter 798 Bad Woman
Remember before, Anthony was very protective of that woman.
Joey glanced at him nervously, but seeing his usual expression and not even looking in that direction, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.
So, Anthony no longer cared about Juniper?
'That's good. Juniper isn't worth a man's love at all. Poor Brice, that fool, still thinks he's found true love, so sweet, but actually, he's met a bad woman. Anthony is clear-headed, sees her true colors, and feels nothing for her,' Joey thought to himself.
However, since Anthony had come back this time, he seemed much colder, as if he had no feelings for anything. He didn't talk much and had shut himself off.
The company was abuzz with rumors about him suddenly calling off the wedding, which was completely unlike Anthony's steady style.
What the truth was, and the reasons behind it, Joey didn't dare to guess and couldn't figure out. He just hoped Anthony would be okay.
After work, Juniper packed up her things.
"I'll treat you to dinner, and then we can have a drink?" Charles suggested enthusiastically.
"No need, I'm going to the hospital."
"Going to the hospital to check on Brice? Haha, what, afraid he'll mess around with the nurses?"
"Haha, just kidding."
He always makes these uncomfortable "jokes" and thinks he's particularly humorous. Such people are the most annoying.
After just a few hours of interaction, Juniper already found him extremely repulsive and dreaded the next four or five days of work.
'Dear Brice, recover quickly and save me from this hell,' Juniper prayed silently in her heart.
Juniper ignored him and walked out. Charles put a hand against the door, blocking her way. "Did you misunderstand something?"
"I said I'd treat you to dinner, with no other intentions. We're colleagues, and we have to work together, so I'm just trying to be friendly."
"No need, it's just a few days of cooperation, not necessary." Juniper's face had already turned cold.
"That's short-sighted of you. How do you know it's just a few days? We might end up closer than you and Brice. Don't misunderstand, I mean 'close' in a work sense, not a physical sense."
He kept saying it was Juniper who was overthinking.
But in reality, his words were full of sexual innuendo, clearly meant to be misunderstood.
How could there be such an ungracious and disgusting man, and she had to run into him!
Just looking at him made her want to slap him.
"Please move." Juniper said coldly, slipping through the gap beside him.
Charles watched her back, touched his chin, and the smile faded from his face as he snorted coldly.
"Just because she's a bit pretty? What's she so arrogant about? There are plenty of pretty women in the world!" he muttered to himself.
Juniper arrived at the hospital. Brice was craning his neck, and when he saw her, he almost jumped out of bed.
"Don't move." Juniper quickly said, "Is there something urgent?"
"Yes, urgent." Brice said anxiously.
Juniper got nervous, only to hear him say, "I haven't seen you for five hours, isn't that urgent?"
Juniper gave him a light slap, "You scared me."
"I'm not exaggerating. We usually work together and see each other all the time. Now I haven't seen you for five whole hours. You have no idea how much I miss you, I almost ran to the company."
"Don't make a fuss. I'm here now, aren't I?" Juniper put down the fruit.
"I missed you. Did you miss me today?"
"Yes." Juniper nodded.
After being disgusted by Charles, she missed him even more.
"That's good. How was work today?"
"Just okay."
"Not happy?"
"Not really." Juniper washed an apple and peeled it for him.
"Who did the company assign to work with you?"
"Just one person." No, not even a person—more like a beast.
"Who?"
"Just a colleague." Juniper didn't want to disgust him.
"It's Charles, so you don't want to say, right?"
"How did you know?"
Brice took out his phone and showed her a photo taken at lunch with Charles.
Juniper frowned, "It's those female colleagues at your company who have a crush on you that sent it to you, right?"
"Maybe, it was sent anonymously."
"Do you believe it?"
"Of course not. I'm worried you're being harassed by him. From the look on your face, you definitely are, right?"
"Not exactly, but he is pretty disgusting."
"Yeah, all the female colleagues at the company say so. I'll go back to work tomorrow."
"No way, what about your hand?"
"My hand isn't as important as you. I can't let you be harassed by someone like him."
"If you really want to help me, rest well these few days and try to come back sooner. But until the doctor agrees to discharge you, be good and don't make a fuss, okay? Don't make me worry." Juniper coaxed him like a child.
"But... should I apply to the company to change partners?"
"That wouldn't be good, it's the company's arrangement. Don't worry, I won't let anyone take advantage of me."
"But..."
Juniper fed him a piece of apple, "Let's not talk about this anymore, okay?"
"Alright."
Brice pouted. "He's very sneaky, be careful."
"Got it. You're so naggy."
"See, you're complaining again... This is called caring, okay?"
"Okay, okay."
Sometimes Juniper felt he was childish, but that's how a man shows love, right?
Juniper stayed at the hospital until ten before going home, quickly showered, did her skincare routine, and went to bed.
In the morning, she took a cab to work.
She spent the whole day dealing with Charles, which was exhausting.
She was supposed to work overtime, but didn't want to stay with Charles any longer, so she left on time.
She was holding an umbrella, making a call by the roadside, waiting in the rain for ten minutes before finally getting a cab.
Suddenly, a white Mercedes stopped in front of her.
The window rolled down, "Your knight is here, get in."
Knight?
What a disgusting knight.
"No need, I'll take a cab."
"It's hard to get a cab in this weather."
Juniper thought, 'If it weren't for you, I'd already be in a cab.'
"No trouble."
"It's no problem, I'll give you a ride."
"Really, no need."
"My eighty-thousand-dollar Mercedes isn't more comfortable than a cab?"
Juniper thought to herself, 'No matter how comfortable a Mercedes is, it can't make up for the disgusting driver.'
"Look how nice I am, give me a chance."
Juniper still shook her head.
Charles probably had never been rejected by a woman so many times and was a bit unhappy, "I insist on giving you a ride. If you don't get in, I won't leave."
His car was blocking the vehicles behind, and someone honked.
Juniper was getting a headache, about to be forced into the car, when a silver Bugatti Veyron pulled up.
The person in the car was Anthony.
With both cars in front of her, Juniper didn't have time to think about whether it was appropriate to get into Anthony's car.
She just wanted to get away from Charles' pestering immediately, so she closed her umbrella and got into Anthony's car.
