Chapter 382 I'm Coming Over Now
"I really want to be with you right now."
Samuel said that so affectionately that Layla's heart stirred.
Yes, it would be great if Samuel were here. She would be happy as long as she was with him, no matter if they were in a luxurious presidential suite or a rundown little house.
Although this place was luxurious, it couldn't compare to the warmth of Layla's small apartment.
"I miss you too."
"Can I come over now?" Samuel asked immediately.
"No, it's a two-hour drive, it’s too tiring."
"I want to see you." Samuel's eyes were filled with passion. He was exceptionally firm, as if he couldn't bear it.
"I don't want you to be too tired."
"It's not too tiring. Should I leave now?" He was already about to get up.
"Don't, don't come over." Layla hurriedly called out to stop him. "Many people from the company are here, you'll be seen."
"So what?"
"It's not the right time."
"But I want to see you." Samuel's eyes were filled with a crazy yearning.
"I'll be back the day after tomorrow, can you hold out for one more night?"
"These two nights will drive me crazy." Samuel shook his head "painfully". Layla was his antidote, he had to take it all the time, otherwise the longing would drive him insane. He had never thought that he would cling to a woman like this and wish to be with her twenty-four hours a day.
"Just focus on work, don't think about me."
"Do you think that's possible?" Samuel smiled bitterly.
Layla fell silent.
It was impossible for her not to think about Samuel.
"I know it's hard, just do your best. Okay, I'm going to take a shower now. I was on the bus all afternoon and I'm a bit tired," Layla said.
"Are you sure you don't need me to come over?"
Layla nodded seriously. "I'm sure. Wait for me at home."
Samuel sounded somewhat aggrieved. "You’re heartless."
"Goodnight, goodnight." Layla quickly hung up the phone, fearing that she might not be able to resist agreeing to his visit.
Layla wanted to see Samuel, and she wasn't really afraid of her colleagues seeing them together. She just didn't want him to travel back and forth. He already worked hard enough on weekdays, and the back and forth would be too much trouble.
The feeling between them was like a blazing flame. Even though they were together day and night, they would miss each other crazily after just a few hours apart. They wished they could be together twenty-four hours a day. They never felt tired of each other and always felt like it wasn't enough. It was terrifying to think about. But it was also very sweet.
"Miss Adkins, didn't you lose your luggage? Mr. Holland asked me to prepare a few sets of vacation clothes for you." The beautiful housekeeper pushed the clothes over in a gorgeous golden cart. They were all in simple styles, without any logos, but with excellent texture.
"These are all high-end and custom-made, as per Mr. Holland's request, and as low-key as possible. If you're not satisfied, we can change them."
"No need, these are fine."
Samuel had given her the star-shaped earrings and now these clothes. He was getting to know her preferences. Layla didn't like clothes with logos.
"The skincare products are ready. They’re tailored for your skin."
Layla picked up a bottle of face cream. "This luxury brand must be very expensive. Is it over $800?"
The housekeeper smiled and shook her head. "This has been specially customized for your skin type by this brand. It costs $8,000. Even the Queen of F country uses this face cream."
"$8,000!" Layla exclaimed. "So do all these toners, face creams, eye creams add up to over $30,000?"
"More or less. We just want you to be satisfied."
Everything added up to over $30,000. It was like putting gold on her face. Of course she was satisfied. The skincare she bought for herself didn't exceed $300. Luxurious, indeed. But since she was staying in a presidential suite for $500,000 a night, these expenses didn't seem like much.
Layla sighed, feeling like she had reached the peak of her life.
It was easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to go from luxury to frugality. In terms of food, clothing, housing, and transportation, Samuel always gave her the best. She was really being spoiled.
"Miss Adkins, would you like a bath? Shall I run the water for you?" The housekeeper was attentive.
"No need, I'll just wash up quickly. I'm hungry, is there any food?"
"Of course, I'll bring it to you right away."
"Thank you."
After Layla took a bath, her dinner was delivered. It was all her favorite home-cooked dishes.
The housekeeper couldn't help but sigh, "They said that Mr. Holland personally called the chef and told him about your preferences. The chef prepared everything according to your taste. Mr. Holland is really pampering you."
Layla felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
Despite Samuel's busy schedule, he still thought of these little details. He was always thinking of her.
Layle enjoyed a delicious dinner then lay comfortably on the sofa, browsing Facebook, enjoying her heavenly life.
The housekeeper brought her a blanket and gently covered her abdomen.
"Did he also tell you to do this?"
The housekeeper nodded. "Yes, Mr. Holland said you like to lie in bed and browse Facebook, so he asked me to take good care of you and make sure you don't catch a cold."
"That man..." Layla couldn't help but shake her head and smile lightly.
Around ten o'clock, Layla yawned and prepared to go back to her room to sleep.
"Miss Adkins, do you have any other instructions?" The housekeeper pulled back the covers for her, looking at her respectfully.
"Don't let anyone disturb me." She was referring to the female colleagues at the company.
"Of course. I'll leave now, sweet dreams. If you need anything, just ring this bell."
"Thank you. Goodnight."
The bed was as soft as feathers, and Layla slept soundly. It was rare for her not to have any dreams, and she woke up in the morning feeling particularly refreshed.
She had set her phone to airplane mode last night. She rubbed her eyes and unlocked her phone, seeing that it was already eleven o'clock. It was nice to sleep for twelve hours.
She received several text messages, all from Cassandra, scolding her. She didn't even bother to read them. She just deleted them.
She opened Samuel's message: [Good morning.]
It had been seven o'clock in the morning, with a picture he took of the sunrise.
Layla stuck out her tongue and replied: [Good afternoon.]
Samuel replied instantly: [Did the little lazy cat only just wake up now?]
Layla: [Yes, I'm getting ready to go foraging, let's chat later.]
Levi informed Layla that they would have lunch at a Chinese restaurant outside the resort at noon.
After freshening up, Layla took a taxi there.
When she arrived, lunch hadn't started yet, and everyone looked at her strangely.
"Did she really spend the night in the presidential suite?"
"Didn't you see Cassandra cursing her in the group chat? There's no way it's fake? They were all forced to move to the guesthouse."
"Look at her face, the presidential suite must be very comfortable."
"It costs $500,000 a night, of course it’s comfortable."
"It’s probably not that expensive, Cassandra always exaggerates."
"It's not an exaggeration this time, I looked it up online. It really does cost $500,000 a night."
Layla only remembered that the room hadn't cost $300,000 then. It had increased to $500,000, and Samuel hadn't brought it up. Thinking about it made her feel even more distressed. She had planned to change to another room tonight, but in the morning the housekeeper had told her that Mr. Holland had booked her two nights at the presidential suite.
The cost of two nights was nearly a million dollars. She didn’t dare think about it.
"Her sugar daddy must be really rich."
"He’s not just rich. He also powerful. Even Ms. Taylor got kicked out of the resort. The lunch that was originally supposed to be at the resort was canceled and moved here."
"We shouldn't offend her, let's play it by ear."
"We should Cassandra take the lead and watch the show."
Before the conversation could continue, Layla hadn't even taken her seat yet, but Cassandra stormed in with a group of people, her eyes were swollen and bloodshot.
