Chapter 553: Your Son Ain't Worth My Time
Leah, being a top-tier diplomat, was used to getting mad respect wherever she went. So, when she got hit with names like "old witch" and "old shrew," she was fuming. "What did you just call me?"
"May!" Tyler banged the table. No one had ever dared to talk to his mom like that.
"Did I stutter? Your son’s lucky he even met me, and here you are, nitpicking and throwing shade. Do you think you’re all that?" May shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"My son’s lucky?" Leah scoffed, her anger boiling over. "Have you even checked yourself? You’re from some regular family. We’re high society, blue-blooded nobility. If it wasn’t for Mr. Eilish, you wouldn’t even know my son existed."
"And you, with that unfortunate mug of yours, just looking at you makes me sick. How could I ever let my son be with someone like you?" Leah continued, "Tyler, am I seeing this right? Look at her, spewing such trash. She’s nothing compared to those high-class ladies."
"Mom, you’re spot on." Tyler sneered, hating how May disrespected his mom. To him, Leah was the epitome of greatness.
Plus, he had a way out now. He could become the bank president and marry a diplomat’s daughter, living the dream. He didn’t need to deal with May, the loudmouth, whose life was bound to be a mess.
May, with one hand on her hip, started ranting, "You’re all a bunch of lowlifes! Let me tell you, old witch, it’s not that you look down on me, but I look down on your trashy family. You think Tyler’s a good guy? He’s out chasing hookers every day. Who knows what diseases he’s got? Better get him checked; he might have HIV. Wait too long, and you’ll be picking up his corpse!"
"You!"
"May, shut your mouth!" Tyler's face was burning with rage.
"Oh, what’s the matter? Scared now? Do the folks at your bank even know what a scumbag you are? One of these days, when I’m in a bad mood, I might just stroll into your bank and spill all your dirty secrets."
Tyler was livid, "You wouldn’t dare!"
"Wouldn’t I? If I blow the whistle on you, do you really think you’ll still be in line for that bank president gig? You won’t even keep your current job. A slimeball like you, pretending to be all high and mighty, you think you deserve that title?"
"May!" Tyler was seething. He regretted ever getting tangled up with her. "I’m warning you, don’t you dare cause trouble at my bank, or else..."
"Or else what? Caleb’s my future brother-in-law. You lay a finger on me, and he’ll make sure you regret it," May taunted, her voice dripping with arrogance. "Old witch, beast, bastard, get it straight. It’s you trashy, hypocritical, disgusting people who don’t deserve me, not the other way around."
"I’m telling you, if you see me around, you better keep your heads down. Piss me off, and I’ll march right into your bank and ruin your reputation!" With that, May grabbed her bag and stormed out, still fuming.
She was moving so fast she didn’t see the person in front of her and crashed right into them.
May almost hit the ground and immediately snapped, "Are you blind? Can’t you see where you’re going? You got a death wish or something?"
The other person, a burly guy with a gold chain, shot back, "You bitch, what did you just say? How dare you mouth off to me?"
"So what if I cursed at you?"
"Curse at me? I don't mind smacking a woman." The burly guy said as he slapped May hard, sending her to the ground. Her vision blurred, and she tasted blood in her mouth.
Back at the Wilson family's villa...
"I wonder how May's meeting with Tyler's parents went," Carol mused casually.
"May's amazing; his parents should be thrilled," Susan replied, but her eyelids kept twitching. She'd had a bad feeling all day, but she tried to shake it off, hoping everything would be fine.
"It'd be great if it worked out. Your sister's not getting any younger, and finding a match will only get tougher."
As they chatted, May stormed in, her hair a mess, heels clicking furiously.
"May," Susan greeted.
"Why are you back so soon? Didn't you meet his parents?" Carol asked. "How did it go? Were they satisfied?"
The last thing May wanted to hear right now was this. She was fuming, like a ticking time bomb ready to blow.
May's eyes were bloodshot, her face dark with anger.
"May, your mom's asking you a question," Maurice said.
"May..." Susan noticed something was off and worriedly approached, grabbing May's hand.
"Don't touch me!" May roared, startling the whole family.
"What, what's wrong with you? May, your face..." Susan was shocked to see a deep slap mark on May's face, her right side swollen. "Who hit you?"
"It... it couldn't have been Tyler, right? He's not that kind of guy. May, what happened? Tell us," Susan anxiously pressed.
"Stop asking!" May roared, "I broke up with him, not getting married. Are you happy now?"
"Everything seemed fine when you left. Did his parents not like you?"
"Why wouldn't they like me? It's me who looks down on them. Their whole family doesn't deserve me!" May shouted, trying to keep her pride intact.
"What do you mean? The Thompson family is way better off than us. Didn't you always praise Tyler? His parents are a diplomat and a banker, both respectable people."
"Respectable? They're not even human, just a bunch of beasts and bastards."
"May!" Maurice frowned, "Have you forgotten my teachings? No swearing."
"I'm not wrong. They're awful people and don't deserve me. Marrying him would be a disgrace for me. I don't want to marry him." May insisted.
"You're being too stubborn. You agreed to date, and now you suddenly want to break up right before marriage. Do you think marriage is a joke? You're at the age to get married; you should cherish a good match. If you keep delaying, you'll be thirty. Look at Susan; her child is already a few years old. What about you?"
May closed her eyes, laughing sarcastically, "What about me? Even if I never get married, it's better than her being an unwed mother, a mistress."
"May," Susan's face turned green.
"May!" Maurice slammed the table, "Shut up!"
May had already stormed upstairs but came back down, seething, to confront Maurice, "What? Am I wrong? Did I falsely accuse her? Didn't you break off your relationship with her because of that? Didn't you feel ashamed? Didn't you change your tune and act all fatherly when you found out her man was Caleb? In the end, you just wanted the Eilish family's fortune, didn't you? How hypocritical!"
