Chapter 750 Is There Another Woman?

Anthony's impulse grew stronger, like a pendulum striking his heart, or a venomous insect biting it.

Thunder and lightning roared, and even the raindrops hitting the large window seemed like a trumpet encouraging him.

He didn't know how much time had passed.

She should be asleep by now.

Just one look, just one look would be enough.

Anthony thought as he slowly got up, walked over, held his breath, and gently pushed open the door.

Good, she didn't lock it, which meant she still trusted him.

The wall lamp was still on, casting a dim light on Juniper's face. She was still curled up, looking very uneasy.

She was indeed still afraid of thunder.

As soon as the thunder rumbled, she shivered.

He worried she might wake up, but fortunately, she just shivered and didn't wake.

Anthony secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He felt like a thief, sneaking around nervously, and he chuckled at himself.

He sat down by her bed, quietly gazing at her sleeping face.

She seemed uneasy even in her dreams, constantly curling herself into a small ball.

"I'm here, don't be afraid," Anthony murmured softly.

It seemed his comfort worked, as Juniper's uneasy whimpers gradually calmed down, and she slept more soundly.

Her breathing was steady.

Anthony couldn't help but slowly reach out and touch her hair, his movements incredibly light, afraid to wake her.

She didn't wake up.

Anthony grew bolder and gently stroked her face with his fingers.

Her skin was as smooth as cream, with an excellent texture.

He used to only dream of her in his sleep, always just seeing her back as she left.

He never thought that one day, he could actually touch her and feel her.

He cherished it immensely.

This dispelled the heart-wrenching shadow of only being able to call out to her in pain as she left.

Being able to quietly watch her and gently touch her face was already the happiest thing in the world.

It seemed that even if he suddenly became penniless overnight, as long as he had her, it would be enough.

"Juniper... Why do you disturb my heart and make me unable to forget you?" Anthony murmured helplessly.

The flash of the ring on his ring finger stung his eyes, as if deeply condemning him.

He was a very responsible person, especially in matters of the heart. He knew what he was doing was very wrong, but he just couldn't help himself.

He could no longer deceive himself with lies like "just one last time, one last second," because he knew he couldn't do it; he would only sink deeper and deeper, unable to extricate himself.

He was watching himself fall.

'Anthony, you're hopeless.'

However, he cherished every second, unwilling to close his eyes.

Juniper thought she would be woken up many times by the storm, but she ended up sleeping soundly through the night and woke up to daylight.

The rain outside had lessened, drizzling softly. Rainy days made people especially sleepy, especially after a long day.

It was still early, just after six, but she couldn't stay in bed. She had to leave quickly before others arrived for work, or who knew what kind of scandal would spread.

As she got up, she suddenly heard a woman's voice outside.

A woman? The secretary?

Juniper nervously pressed her ear to the door to listen.

She didn't hear wrong; it was indeed a woman's voice.

Anthony had quietly watched Juniper sleep until three in the morning.

When he woke up, he glanced at the time; it was six-thirty, still early.

He felt a bit tired, shook his head to wake himself up, and pinched the bridge of his nose.

She was still inside, still sleeping?

Even though it had only been three hours, and they were just sleeping separated by a wall, he still missed her, wanted to see her face, like he was addicted.

Anthony got up, hesitating whether to sneak in for a look.

"Sweetheart, surprise?" Hera suddenly burst in.

Anthony's face froze in shock.

"What, surprised to see me?" Hera smiled.

His expression wasn't one of surprise but displeasure.

After flying for over ten hours, seeing this kind of reaction, Hera was certainly disappointed.

But she had to pretend to be happy, pretend not to notice she wasn't welcome, still smiling as she approached and hugged Anthony's neck. "What's wrong? Don't you miss me?"

She stood on tiptoe to kiss Anthony, but he avoided it.

"What are you doing here?"

"What? I can't come see my boyfriend?"

"I don't like surprises like this."

"Come on, a girlfriend visiting her boyfriend, and you're not happy? You're so hard to please."

Anthony's expression grew more displeased. "Are you here to spy on me?"

"What? I felt bad about my attitude on the phone the other day, so I came to apologize. How is that spying? Am I that kind of person?"

Even if that was her intention, Hera would never admit it.

She had been feeling inexplicably uneasy these past few days, her eyelids twitching constantly.

She felt Anthony's attitude towards her had changed, grown colder, and he was completely uninterested in the wedding.

She was worried he might call it off. She had to come and see for herself, keep an eye on him and stay by his side, especially at such a critical moment.

If he really called off the wedding, she would kill herself.

Anthony pulled away the two tightly wrapped arms around his neck. "You should go back."

"I just got here, and you're already kicking me out? I arrived last night, but there was a thunderstorm. I was afraid you'd worry, so I waited all night. As soon as the rain let up a bit, I came over. I'm so attentive to you, and you're not even a little touched? You're so cold."

"I'm at work."

"It's not work time yet. Anthony, if it were someone else's fiancé, they'd be touched by this. Do you know how disappointed your attitude makes me?"

Hera had intended to speak nicely, but anyone would be upset by such a cold reception.

"I'm not someone else's fiancé."

"Is that your excuse for being cold to me? Think about it, have you ever treated me well, done anything for me? No. Your attitude towards me is even worse than when we were just friends."

"If you want, we can go back to being..."

"With the wedding just over two weeks away, you're talking about going back to being friends? Where does that leave my dignity and my family's?"

"Is your happiness more important, or other people's opinions?"

"Are you saying I won't be happy with you?"

This statement deeply hurt Hera.

"I made my reasons for marrying you very clear from the start."

"No, you've grown colder to me. You don't even want to get married now. Are you seeing someone else behind my back? Who is it?" Hera demanded, agitated.

Suddenly, a sound came from the lounge!
