Chapter 712 Feeding Her a Sandwich

Anthony was like, "Man, is life always about realizing stuff too late?"

When Juniper wanted to crash at his place, he found her super annoying and just wanted her gone.

But the moment she left, he was all like, "Dang, it'd be nice to cuddle up with her."

People were weird like that, only appreciating things after they were gone. It was a double-edged sword. Sometimes losing something made one see its worth.

But that only worked if one could get it back.

If one couldn't, it was just a lifelong regret.

With Layla, he gave it his all, but she still picked Samuel. He was bummed but had no regrets. But with Juniper, if he let her go, he'd definitely regret it.

Anthony thought, "So what now? Should I just go up to Ronnie and fight for her? Wouldn't that make me a total jerk?"

Juniper asked, "Mr. Eilish? You seem really out of it. Are you super tired?"

"I'm good. Can you repeat the question?"

"Look, you didn't even hear my question, and you say you're fine? If you're tired, don't push it."

"No, I caught some Z's in the car earlier." Anthony wasn't tired. He just couldn't focus because Juniper was so damn charming, making him all dizzy.

"Alright then." Juniper didn't want to nag. "I'll ask again, but this time, pay attention."

The way she reminded him was so cute, Anthony couldn't help but smile.

Juniper asked, "What's up? Did I say something weird?"

"Nope. Go on."

"Okay." Juniper dove back into the contract.

A sandwich appeared at her mouth, and she took a bite without thinking, eyes still glued to the contract.

After a few bites, she suddenly realized Anthony had been feeding her the whole time!

Juniper's face went bright red, and she started coughing.

Anthony quickly patted her back.

Juniper almost choked and hurriedly drank the water he handed her, gulping it down.

"Slow down." Anthony was genuinely worried. Seeing her swallow the sandwich, he shook his head. "Why are you so clumsy, like a kid?"

"I was just focused on the contract and didn't realize it was you feeding me. It freaked me out," Juniper said dramatically.

Anthony asked, "Is it that scary for me to feed you?"

"Of course! You're the CEO! Isn't it weird for a CEO to feed a secretary? It's super weird, okay?"

His sudden kindness totally threw her off.

"You were so focused and not eating, so I just fed you a few bites," Anthony said casually.

Juniper suddenly asked, "If it were Mira, would you feed her like this too?"

That question was dumb.

If it were Mira, Anthony would've just told her to order takeout, and they'd eat in their own rooms before the meeting.

Plus, he had personally ordered the sandwich. Didn't she get the hint? Didn't it remind her of anything?

Anthony raised an eyebrow. "What do you think?"

Juniper bit her lip; she didn't think so.

Anthony was known for keeping his distance from women, especially female subordinates. So, everyone said that even though he was gentle and approachable, he was also unapproachable. Honestly, she could feel that he treated her differently, especially since they had almost been a thing before.

But he had a girlfriend, and Juniper kept reminding herself not to get any wild ideas.

"Thanks for your concern, Mr. Eilish. I can handle it myself." Juniper quickly grabbed a piece of the sandwich.

Anthony thought, 'Is she really trying to keep her distance from me? Is it because of Hera or Ronnie?'

Juniper silently chewed the sandwich, feeling a bit tingly on her scalp.

Anthony's pleasant scent kept drifting into her nose, seriously messing with her focus.

Juniper reminded herself, 'Stay cool, Juniper. Remember, he's someone else's boyfriend. Going after someone else's man is just asking for trouble.'

Around 2 PM.

Juniper said, "Mr. Eilish, I'll go back to my room to change clothes, and then we can head to the meeting together."

"Okay."

Juniper quickly changed into professional attire and touched up her makeup. When she came out, Anthony was already waiting at the door. He was rocking a suit, looking exceptionally tall and handsome, practically glowing.

"What's up?" Anthony asked when he saw her staring.

"Nothing. You look really handsome," Juniper said shyly.

Anthony had heard this a million times since he was a kid and was numb to it. But hearing it from Juniper made him happy, and he smiled slightly. "Thanks."

Juniper's breath hitched, feeling a bit dizzy. That smile made him even more handsome, and she found it hard to keep her cool.

The meeting room was just upstairs. The three-hour meeting in the afternoon was long, but with Juniper by his side, Anthony didn't feel bored at all. On the contrary, he felt full of energy and not tired at all.

The meeting was long but super efficient, and it required a lot from the secretary, who had to stay sharp and think fast.

But Juniper didn't slow Anthony down at all. The older secretaries on the other side were a bit flustered, while Juniper remained calm and collected.

When he first met her, Anthony thought she was just a pampered girl, spoiled by her parents, who got a college degree and was waiting to get married. He thought she only needed to drink afternoon tea, do spa treatments, and go shopping every day. If he liked her, it didn't matter; he was willing to support a full-time wife and pamper her.

But she turned out to be so capable, which was a huge plus and made him admire her.

Juniper was not only a good helper at home but also someone who could fight alongside him on the battlefield, which was a delightful surprise.

After the meeting, the other party's general manager, Lyndon Myles, smiled at Juniper with admiration. "Mr. Eilish, where did you find such a good secretary? Not only is she young and beautiful, but she's also very capable. I'm envious."

Juniper gracefully accepted his compliment.

Anthony glanced at her, feeling a bit proud. Juniper was the icing on the cake.

Lyndon asked, "Juniper will be joining us for dinner tonight, right?"

"Yes."

"That's good. I'm very curious about her. Let's have a good chat at dinner," Lyndon said with a smile.

"Are you tired?" Anthony asked Juniper as they left the meeting room.

Juniper shook her head. "No, I'm quite happy."

"Happy?"

Shouldn't she be busy to the point of being dizzy?

"Yeah, it's a sense of accomplishment. It feels like all the hard work I put into studying in college wasn't in vain. Being able to complete my work in such a battle-like meeting makes me feel proud of myself and think I'm pretty good," Juniper said with a smile.

Anthony smiled and patted her head. "Yeah, you did great. You're excellent."
