Chapter 909 Having Kids

Juniper nodded, "You make a good point. Anthony and I will seriously consider it."

"His dad has already retired, and we're just idling at home, so we thought we'd like to have a grandchild sooner. I talked to your dad about it last time, and he feels the same way. Of course, the decision is yours. Don't feel any pressure; we're just mentioning it."

"I understand." Juniper nodded obediently. She could understand all parents' mindsets and didn't reject the idea.

That evening, Juniper sat in front of the vanity, staring blankly at the mirror.

"What's wrong? You've been sitting there for so long." Anthony walked up behind her, gently placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Just thinking."

"Work stuff? Need any advice?" Anthony asked gently. They sometimes discussed work matters with each other.

"It's not about work; it's about what your parents said earlier, about having kids."

"I know you're not planning to have kids so soon. There's no rush. I'll talk to them. You're in the prime of your career with a lot on your plate. It's not something you can just set aside."

Juniper leaned into Anthony's chest playfully, "You're so good to me, always thinking about me."

"I'm your husband. If I don't think about you, who will? Besides, isn't that just the way it should be? You just need to figure out what you want. Don't worry about their thoughts; they won't pressure you."

"I know, your parents are very understanding. It's just... I'm thinking about whether I want kids myself."

Anthony paused, "Weren't you not planning on it? Don't let their words influence you."

"I did plan to consider having kids two years after getting married, and now it's about that time."

"But your career is just taking off; you've been CEO for less than a year."

"Yes, but there will always be a lot going on at every stage. Whenever I decide to stop, I'll have to stop. And I'm almost 25; I think it's a good time to have kids."

Anthony's eyes flickered, "Have you thought it through? You're not acting on impulse, are you?"

"I admit I can be impulsive and a bit willful, but how could I be impulsive about having kids?"

"You should think it over some more," Anthony said rationally.

Juniper pouted, "What do you mean? You don't want our kids?"

She pretended to be angry and pinched Anthony's face, "Tell me, do you have another woman out there?"

"Silly, I just don't want you to force yourself. To me, the most important thing is your thoughts and feelings, not the kids."

"I know you care about me, but I really think it's about time. And it's not like I'll get pregnant immediately; some people try for half a year without success. It's a process."

Anthony smiled, "I feel like I could hit the mark in one go."

"You're too confident."

"You don't believe me?" Anthony wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her onto his lap, and affectionately rubbed his nose against hers, "How about we try tonight?"

"You're too eager." Juniper pushed against his chest, "I haven't fully decided yet."

"Didn't you say it's a process?"

"I mean..." Juniper started to speak but was cut off by his kiss.

Anthony leaned down, gently pressing her onto the sofa, "How about we start tonight?"

Juniper, dizzy from the kiss, surrendered.

Dazed, she thought, 'Could I... could I get pregnant tomorrow?'

Six months later.

The Cooper Group.

Juniper arrived at the company, standing at the back of the elevator where no one noticed her.

Two female employees in front were talking excitedly.

"You're pregnant?"

"Yeah, it happened so suddenly, just one try."

"Wow, your husband must be really strong! I'm so jealous."

"Not really, it was quite unexpected. We weren't fully prepared."

"Still, it's better than some people who try and try but can't get pregnant. My cousin and his wife try every night and take all sorts of supplements, but after six months, still nothing. They went to the hospital, and it turns out my cousin's wife has a problem with her fallopian tubes and can't conceive."

"That's terrible! What are they going to do?"

"What else can they do? They go to the hospital all the time now. The whole baby thing has really strained their relationship. They used to be so in love, but now they're constantly fighting and talking about divorce. My cousin is an only child; they can't not have kids."

"That's true. The belief is still that a family isn't complete without children. If the problem is with the man, it's one thing, but if it's the woman, it's like a crime."

"Exactly. Her in-laws don't even hide their disdain for her now. You can imagine how hard it is for her at home, crying her eyes out every day."

"That's so sad. It's not like she doesn't want kids; what can she do if her body has issues?"

"There's nothing she can do. If you can't have kids, you're going to be looked down upon."

These words reached Juniper's ears clearly.

She and Anthony had been trying for six months without success.

For the first three months, she managed to stay calm, but recently, she had been getting increasingly worried.

They were both young and healthy, so they should have conceived quickly, but there was no news.

Could it be her problem?

She had an abortion over two years ago, which must have been hard on her body.

Thinking about this, Juniper's worry deepened.

The elevator doors opened, and it took her a moment to realize and step out, her mind heavy with concern.

"Ms. Cooper, Ms. Cooper!" Kieran waved a hand in front of her face, "We were just talking about the contract, and you zoned out. Is my voice too mesmerizing?"

Kieran was now a company director and Juniper's trusted confidant and right-hand man.

Juniper rubbed her temples, "Maybe I'm just a bit tired."

"I was saying, you two have been married for over two years and still act like newlyweds, huh? Quite the passionate nights, I see." Kieran teased.

"Stop talking nonsense."

Kieran pointed to her neck, and Juniper noticed a small hickey, quickly covering it with a scarf.

"Mr. Eilish has quite the stamina, I must say."

"Stop it." Juniper felt a bit frustrated. She and Anthony were intimate about four or five times a week, yet still no pregnancy.

"Get back to work if you're done." Juniper signed the document and handed it to him.

"There's more." Kieran handed her an invitation, "This Saturday, I'm hosting a baby shower for my son. You must come."

"Sure."

She had been married for a year when Kieran got married, and now his child was almost a month old, while she...

Juniper's heart sank again.
