Chapter 891 Missing Him Even More
Atticus replied, "Brynn's personality doesn't favor blind dates, so we can't be too direct. Let her get to know Parker slowly, and once she accepts him, everything will fall into place naturally."
"But..."
"No buts. You've worked hard today. Go home and rest."
"Yes." Eldon couldn't say more and had to leave. He had a particularly bad feeling.
Brynn then spent another two days with Parker, but she was always sticking close to Eldon, making Parker almost invisible.
The next evening, when they returned, Atticus pulled Eldon aside, "Parker will pick up Brynn tomorrow morning. You don't need to go."
"Mr. Elise." Eldon frowned nervously.
He didn't trust leaving Brynn with Parker, who was a wolf in sheep's clothing and would definitely make a move.
"It's not safe for Brynn to go out with a man alone."
"They're already familiar with each other, and our families know each other well. There's nothing unsafe about it. I know you care about her, but Brynn has grown up. You can't be with her all the time. Trust me, I chose the right person."
"Mr. Elise..."
"That's final. Go back."
"Yes." Eldon left with a frown, feeling very uneasy.
The next morning.
"Dad, good morning."
Brynn wore a pink dress today, with a ponytail, looking youthful and cute.
Eldon liked her in pink, saying she looked like a little Barbie doll. He would like it, right?
But after breakfast, Eldon still hadn't shown up.
"Why hasn't Eldon come yet? He's never late." Brynn asked puzzled, taking out her phone, "I'll call him."
"He's not coming today. There's something at the company."
"No way? He promised me yesterday. If he couldn't come, he would have told me. Besides, isn't his main job to accompany me? What could be more important than me?" Brynn was a bit anxious.
"He has his work. He can't be with you all day. Isn't Parker here?"
Brynn pouted, "I like Eldon. I don't want to go out with Parker alone."
No wonder Parker hinted on the phone last night that it would be inconvenient if Eldon was there, which is why Atticus suggested Eldon not go along anymore.
If this continued, Brynn would only accept Eldon and not be able to interact with other boys. Atticus was even more determined to break them apart.
"Eldon is at the company, right? I'll go find him."
"You already agreed to go with Parker."
"I thought Eldon would come, so I agreed." Brynn quickly said, "I'm not interested in going out with him alone. He's so boring."
"Since you agreed, you can't go back on your word."
"I'm not a boy. We girls can change our minds if we want."
"Brynn, you can't be willful." Atticus sighed earnestly.
"Why is it willful if I don't want to go? It's not my responsibility to be his tour guide, I..."
"Mr. Elise, Mr. Blair is here."
"Let him in." Atticus gave Brynn a look, "Try spending a day alone with him. If you don't like it, I won't force you."
With no other choice, Brynn reluctantly went out.
Finally getting rid of Eldon, Parker was in high spirits.
"Brynn, you look so beautiful today, like a little princess in pink."
She didn't dress up for him. If she had known Eldon wouldn't come, she wouldn't have put on makeup and would have just worn a T-shirt.
"Where do you want to go today?" Parker asked eagerly.
"Whatever."
"Give me a destination. The amusement park?"
"Am I a three-year-old?"
"Then the beach?"
"In this heat? Do you want me to get sunburned?" Brynn said impatiently.
Parker felt frustrated and a bit embarrassed.
Why was she so harsh today? She was always sweet and well-behaved in front of Eldon.
"Why don't you have any plans? You make me think. Eldon would have planned everything perfectly, and it would be just what I wanted."
"I'm not him." Parker grumbled unhappily, "We just met. It's normal that I don't know your preferences. Just because he knows doesn't mean he's great. It's just that you've known each other longer."
"It's not just that. Eldon is smarter and more attentive than you, much better than you." Brynn defended him.
"But he's just a bodyguard."
Brynn angrily frowned, "Didn't I tell you? Eldon is not a bodyguard. He's family!"
"That's because you're kind and emotional. But in reality, he's just a bodyguard hired by Uncle Atticus to take care of you."
"Brynn, you need to understand that no matter how deep your feelings are, he's just a servant."
"Eldon is not a servant!" Brynn emphasized loudly, "I won't let you say that about him!"
"Okay, okay, I won't say it..." Parker thought, 'Even if I don't say it, it doesn't change the fact.'
"Don't you think you're too close to him?"
"I don't think so. I like him. I like being close to him. No matter how close, it's right."
Parker was inwardly furious and thought, 'So, am I dead to you?'
But he held back. He had finally gotten a chance to be alone with her. He couldn't mess it up.
Forget it, no matter how good Eldon was, he was just the Eilish family's bodyguard. Parker didn't need to stoop to his level and tarnish his noble status.
Putting on a smile, "Okay, okay, I was wrong. I shouldn't have said that. I'll look up a fun place to go now, okay?"
Little did he know, Eldon was worried and had been following them in his car.
Brynn was unhappy from the morning, dragged by Parker to play all day.
She wanted to leave, constantly complaining about how boring, tiring, uninteresting, annoying, hot, and sunny it was.
She rarely had the chance to be alone with a man, and this comparison made her appreciate Eldon even more.
He knew what she liked and disliked, when she was thirsty, hot, or needed a jacket.
It was as if he could hear her thoughts. As soon as she thought of something, he would do it immediately.
She loved being with him. Even walking under the sun felt bright and happy.
But with Parker, every step felt exhausting. She'd rather stay alone in a café.
It turned out that where you go and what you do didn't matter. What mattered was who was with you.
She missed Eldon more. Without him for a day, she didn't know what to do.
After enduring the day, Brynn couldn't wait to go home after dinner, almost as if escaping.
"Brynn, let me take you to a fun place." Parker said excitedly.
"No, the places you take me are boring." Brynn pouted.
"No, the bar is fun. It's lively at night."
"You want to take me to a bar?" Brynn exclaimed in disbelief.
