Chapter 727 Leaving in Three Days
When Juniper first started working, she felt very sweet.
Every day, she would secretly glance at the CEO's office, thinking that Anthony was in the same place, breathing the same air and working towards the same goal.
It made her feel very sweet inside, and she felt that life was full of hope and promise.
Later on...
Even though she thought it would be a relief, the thought of not seeing him in the future left her feeling lost and sad, far more than relieved.
Just as she was thinking about him, Anthony appeared.
He walked past her without looking sideways and entered the office.
Juniper thought, 'I have said those things to him, and he must have taken them to heart. It's my fault. Juniper, stop hesitating. Since you've made up your mind, get out of this misery as soon as possible.'
Thinking this, Juniper stood up, picked up her resignation letter, and walked into the office.
Anthony looked at the document she handed over, with a resignation letter on top.
He had thought she might make this decision, but when the moment actually came, his heart sank, feeling depressed.
Juniper said, "Mr. Eilish, I'm sorry to have let you down and wasted your efforts in nurturing me."
"Take it back." Anthony didn't even want to look at it, turning his eyes away directly.
"I've already decided."
Anthony said, "If it's because of my outburst that day, I apologize. It won't happen again."
His apology made Juniper feel even worse.
Clearly, she was the one at fault. She had come to work by his side with an agenda, leading to the current stalemate.
"It has nothing to do with that day."
Anthony asked, "Then why? It's not the benefits or anything else. I can't think of a reason."
"I think that I'm not in a good state right now and can't handle this job. I don't want to delay the work progress."
That was indeed part of the reason, but not the main one.
She could only pick these reasons to say.
Anthony's eyes saw right through her. "These are just excuses. You know the real reason in your heart."
Juniper took a deep breath, forcing herself to be strong. "Mr. Eilish, regardless of the reason, resigning is an employee's freedom. You don't need to ask."
Anthony asked, "I don't need to ask, and just let you leave with the responsibility of losing the contract? Are you willing? Everyone will think you harmed the company."
Of course, Juniper wasn't willing, but what could she do? To prove her innocence would be a waste of effort, and she would end up hurt.
Juniper replied, "As long as I leave the company, those people will have nothing to do with me. Whatever they say won't matter to me."
Anthony said, "I said I would clear your name."
"Thank you, but it's not necessary."
Anthony felt like he could have a heart attack from her.
He continued, "The results are almost out. At least wait until I find out the truth..."
Juniper interrupted him, "No need."
'So she's determined to resign, not willing to stay with me for even a second longer? Fine, she's really ruthless.' Anthony thought.
Anthony reminded, "According to company policy, it takes at least a week for a resignation to be approved, and at most fifteen days."
Juniper couldn't stay that long; she would go crazy.
Juniper looked at him and said directly, "Anthony, since you know why I'm resigning, don't find reasons to delay me."
Anthony retorted, "Delay you? You were the one who wanted to work here in the first place."
"I'm not denying that. Now I know it was a mistake, so I need to end this mistake."
"Come and go as you please, like it's a game? What do you think the Eilish Group is? You're an adult, yet you're still so willful!"
Juniper said, "Yes, I'm willful. I have a short attention span and never consider the consequences. Someone like me, without a sense of responsibility, shouldn't stay in the company. So please approve my resignation immediately. Let me leave."
Anthony felt a sense of confinement. How ridiculous. He felt humble and despicable.
He took a deep breath and said, "Three days."
Juniper was stunned.
Anthony continued, "In three days, I'll have the results and clear your name. Then you can leave cleanly."
Juniper thought, 'Is he still thinking about me? Or does he not want me to resign, reluctant to let me go?'
Whatever the reason, Juniper felt she couldn't bear it.
"Anthony..."
Anthony interrupted her, "Don't say any more. I've decided."
Seeing his firm attitude, Juniper had no choice but to say, "Alright, I'll use the three days to complete the resignation procedures. Thank you for your care, and I'm sorry to have let you down."
She turned and left.
Anthony felt agitated and had no mood to work.
After Juniper left, she told the HR department about her resignation.
Then she organized her pile of work and went to find Mira.
At this time, Mira had just received a call from Bennie.
Bennie ordered, "Give me two hundred thousand dollars."
"I have no money left. In the past three days, I've already given you over five hundred thousand dollars. I'm drained and don't have a penny left."
Mira gritted her teeth, controlling her emotions and the hatred that made her want to kill Bennie.
Last night around nine, Bennie lost another hundred thousand dollars and asked Mira for money.
When she refused, he beat her, threatening to beat her to death. She was forced to give him another two hundred thousand dollars.
But in just one night, he lost it all. Even if she were a money-making machine, she would be drained by him.
Bennie mocked, "You've worked for so many years, with such a high salary, only five hundred thousand in savings? Who are you kidding?"
"I have to pay rent, eat, and support my parents. I can only save this much, and every penny is earned through hard work and overtime."
Bennie interrupted her, "Don't give me that crap! Where's the money?"
"I really don't have any left, not a penny."
Bennie threatened, "Damn it. Do you want me to come to your company and expose your dirty secrets?"
Mira had had enough of these threats. "Come if you want, and come right now. I might as well quit, since you'll drive me to death anyway."
"This is commercial crime, not just losing your job. It's jail time!"
Mira mocked, "Jail is better than being tortured by you."
"I'm telling you, you'd better give me the money. Don't push me, or I'll drag you down with me!"
With that, Bennie hung up the phone.
Mira regretted not killing him that night when he was drunk and asleep. She should have done it. If he didn't die, she would die at his hands.
"Mira?" Juniper called several times before Mira snapped back, knocking over a cup.
Juniper asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Mira's eyes looked pained and filled with fear.
'Who made her so scared?' Juniper thought.
"What do you want?" Mira forced herself to calm down, not letting Juniper see anything.
"These documents are for you to handle."
Mira asked, "What do you mean? You dare to push back the work assigned to you?"
"We each had our own duties before. This was originally your work which you just pushed to me. And I've already submitted my resignation and will be leaving in three days."
