Chapter 745 Do You Want a Chance?

Anthony was extremely jealous, even though he knew rationally that he had no right to be.

But he just couldn't control his mind.

He stared intently at the scene.

Joey noticed his sudden dark expression and followed his gaze. Why was it Juniper and Brice again?

Could Anthony's expression be jealousy?

It sure looked like it!

Recalling Anthony's warning to him at the restaurant last time, Joey was even more convinced. So Anthony liked this type of scheming woman and even defended her.

Messing around with the director for a project and daring to mess around with the president too, she must do this often. What's the difference between such a woman and a spy, or a prostitute?

He wouldn't want her even if she were given to him.

Joey felt disdain.

Juniper seemed to sense something, feeling vaguely uneasy. She turned to look and saw Anthony entering the office with a cold face.

He didn't look well. Did something unpleasant happen during the meeting?

She thought it best not to see him now.

As Juniper was about to leave, Joey walked over, looking at her sarcastically, "It's you again."

"Brice, they say beautiful women are like roses with thorns, poisonous. Be careful."

"Juniper is a flower, but she's a pure lily," Brice said.

"More like painted white," Joey rolled his eyes.

Juniper felt displeased. Why should she be insulted by a man she didn't know? But she didn't want to offend Joey.

"I gave the documents to the secretary. I'll be leaving now."

With that, she turned to leave.

"Mr. Eilish wants to see you," Joey called out, making her stop in her tracks.

"This is an opportunity, make the most of it!" Brice immediately encouraged.

Juniper recalled Anthony's earlier expression and wasn't so optimistic.

After placing the documents on Anthony's desk, she remembered the days when she was his secretary. It was only three months ago, but it felt like a lifetime.

"Mr. Eilish, is there anything wrong with the documents? I can answer any questions in person."

Anthony didn't respond, continuing to read the StellarTech files.

Juniper hesitated, "I heard KD Company is interested in collaborating with StellarTech?"

She asked tentatively, but Anthony's tone was cold, "Is that why you came to deliver the documents? To test me?"

Juniper was stunned, thinking, 'Wasn't it you who let me in?'

"That's not what I meant."

"You've been running to KD Company frequently, hinting more than once. What do you mean if not that?"

His words were sharp.

But Juniper replied calmly, "I admit our company is very eager for this collaboration and is working hard to secure it, but the decision is still in your hands. I can't influence it."

"How do you know you can't influence it?"

What did he mean by that?

Anthony regretted it as soon as he said it. Until now, they had tacitly avoided mentioning their past relationship, pretending to start anew, yet he said such a thing.

But he was really upset, still brooding over her and Brice.

"Are you constantly extracting information from me and Brice? Is this your company's usual tactic? Using your looks?"

Juniper wanted to refute that she wasn't using her looks, but she couldn't deny she was probing for information.

Probing for information was normal, but why did it sound like she was using her looks from his mouth? She wasn't a female spy.

So she remained silent.

"Before the results are out, isn't it inappropriate to be so blatant? Shouldn't you keep some distance?" Anthony said.

"If you're referring to us, I don't think I can extract any information from you. As for Brice, he isn't in charge of this project. Our acquaintance is purely coincidental, not with any ulterior motive as you suggest."

Anthony knew her well and knew she wasn't that kind of person.

But when people are upset, they tend to say upsetting things to make the other person uncomfortable.

He knew he shouldn't, but he couldn't control himself.

"If there's nothing wrong with the documents, I'll be leaving now. Goodbye, Mr. Eilish." Juniper admired herself for still being able to smile, a skill honed in the workplace.

No matter how uncomfortable she felt, she would never show a sour face in front of a partner.

Her reaction made Anthony even more uncomfortable and self-reproachful.

Juniper left the company and had just gotten into her car when Brice got into the passenger seat from the other side.

She was startled.

Noticing it was only five o'clock, she asked, "Why are you off work so early?"

"Recently, I have fewer projects, so I can leave early. After all, when I was working late until eleven every night, I didn't ask the company for overtime pay. How about we have dinner together?"

Seeing she was about to refuse, Brice quickly said, "Who was it that said if I got any information, you'd treat me to dinner? Both my ears heard it clearly, don't deny it."

Juniper sighed, "I think it's not a good idea. People might think I'm using you to get information."

"So what? It's not classified information. I traded a box of premium cigars for it. If you don't listen now, wouldn't I be at a loss?"

"I'll reimburse you."

"Not much, just over twenty thousand dollars."

Juniper was stunned. Her monthly salary was just over five thousand dollars.

"Cash or check?"

Juniper awkwardly said, "Can I pay in installments?"

"No installments. But a better way is for you to listen to me and then treat me to dinner."

She seemed to have no other choice. Without money, she couldn't be tough, "What do you want to eat?"

"Japanese food. It's been a while."

"Okay." Brice chose a rather expensive Japanese restaurant, and Juniper felt a bit of pain in her wallet.

Her salary was decent, but supporting herself wasn't that easy.

"I asked my colleagues. Currently, the company does favor StellarTech, with a 70% chance of choosing them."

That high. Wasn't it already decided then?

Jack had high hopes, and Juniper didn't want to disappoint him.

But that's how collaborations are. There are successes and failures. They were the ones being chosen, after all.

Juniper shrugged, "We've done all we can. If that's the case, there's nothing we can do."

"Yeah, this project isn't under my control, so I can't help. Sorry."

Juniper quickly shook her head, "I'm very grateful to you."

"Really? How grateful? Enough to marry me?"

"Not to that extent."

Brice smiled, "Heartless. Look at it this way, although you lost this project, you gained me."

"What do you mean?"

"Like you said, if this project succeeded and we were close, there might be rumors. Now, without any interests involved, no one will say anything. It's quite relaxing. The project is important to the company, but I am important to you. So you actually gained."

Juniper shook her head teasingly, "You're really confident in yourself."

"Shouldn't I be? I'm quite popular in the company, you know? There are at least dozens of girls chasing me."

Juniper nodded cooperatively, "Yeah, I can see that."

"Why do I feel like you don't believe me?"

"No, I absolutely believe you."

"Then do you want a chance?"
