Chapter 584: I Love You
The lady doc gave Susan a once-over, "The baby's growing just fine, and you're in good shape too."
Susan and Caleb both let out a big sigh of relief and grinned.
"But you seem kinda stressed out?" the doc added.
"Yeah, a bit."
"You gotta chill. A mom's mental state can mess with the baby's growth. It's not just about eating right."
"Got it, doc. I'll try to relax." Susan nodded. She'd been wound up tight lately and really needed to take it easy.
"Doc, can we, uh, you know, do the deed in three months?" Caleb suddenly blurted out.
Susan's face went beet red. Seriously... how could he ask that? Couldn't he keep it together for once?
And he asked it so seriously.
Dude had no shame.
"Caleb," She shot him a look.
"What? It's a legit question, right?" Caleb said.
"In theory, yeah, but it's not really recommended. If you gotta, just take it easy," the doc replied.
"So, it's a maybe." Caleb nodded.
Susan was both amused and annoyed. This guy...
As they walked out of the doc's office, they bumped into Grace holding Candy.
All four of them froze.
"You forgot one of your reports," the doc chased after them. "Even though you're doing well, pregnant women still need extra supplements."
"You're pregnant?" Grace asked, acting all "surprised".
"Are you stalking us?" Caleb's gentle look turned icy real quick.
"No, I wasn't feeling well and came for a check-up. Didn't expect to see you here."
"Yeah, right, Grace. Cut the crap!" Caleb angrily grabbed Grace's wrist.
"That hurts, Caleb, let go."
"Let go of Mommy!" Candy pushed him, like a little tiger protecting her mom.
"Candy..."
"Susan, this is really just a coincidence. I wasn't following you, please believe me," Grace said, trying to sound sincere.
But Susan didn't buy it, especially not with Grace. Ever since Grace "changed," she'd been acting all weird, giving Susan the creeps.
"Don't bully my mommy!" Candy spread her arms to shield Grace. "Daddy, you said I was your only daughter. You lied to me, you're a liar!"
"Candy..." Caleb sighed.
"Daddy doesn't want me anymore."
"How could I not want you?"
"Then you gotta choose between me and this woman!" Candy pointed angrily at Susan. "If Daddy wants her, I'll never see you again."
"Candy, don't you remember what Daddy told you before? You're both important to me, losing either one isn't an option."
"But she took Daddy away, I hate her!" Candy shouted, "It's either her or me!"
"Candy, don't be so stubborn. I'm really not being wronged," Grace said, but inside she was thrilled. Finally, the moment had come.
Caleb frowned.
Candy waited for a long time and got anxious, "You chose her, didn't you? You have a family now, you don't want me and Mommy anymore!"
Candy cried and shouted.
"From now on, you're not my daddy. I never want to see you again!" She cried, "Mommy, let's go. I only have you now."
"I'll talk to her. Congrats to you both," Grace said quickly and ran after Candy.
"You should go after them, just in case..." Susan urged.
But Caleb shook his head, "With Grace there, nothing's gonna happen. Don't sweat it, let's head home."
"But..."
"Remember what the doc said? You need to stay chill." Caleb smiled, "This is my problem, I'll handle it, okay?"
Susan saw the worry in his eyes but still nodded, "Okay."
They went home, and Susan crashed for the whole day. She'd been super sleepy since getting pregnant.
When she woke up, it was late afternoon. She heard noises outside; Caleb had brought Oliver back.
Susan lazily squinted and smiled, "You're back. I knocked out and didn't even hear you leave."
"Mommy's a little lazy cat," Oliver laughed.
"You keep Mommy company, I'll whip up dinner," Caleb said.
"I'll help you," Susan suggested.
"No need, you're the VIP now. Stay out of the kitchen and just focus on eating." Caleb affectionately tapped her nose.
"Haha, won't I turn into a big fatty then?"
"The fatter, the better."
"Mommy, it's cool. A man should take care of the woman he loves. From now on, Uncle Caleb will handle all the chores," Oliver had it all figured out.
Caleb chuckled, "You little rascal, you only care about your mommy and not your dad at all."
Oliver made a face at Caleb.
The three of them had dinner, four dishes and a soup, which Caleb whipped up in less than an hour.
Caleb glanced at Susan, and after getting her nod of approval, he smiled at Oliver, "Oliver, I got some big news to share."
"What good news?" Oliver asked, munching on a chicken wing. "Did we win five million bucks?"
"Silly, that's not big news."
If it were five hundred million, Caleb might take a look.
"Then what is it?"
Caleb smiled.
"Uncle Caleb, you know dragging it out is super annoying, right?" Oliver added.
"Do you wanna know?"
Oliver nodded.
"Really wanna know?" Caleb continued.
"Yes, yes."
"Really, really wanna know?"
"Yes, yes, yes, just spill it." Oliver's big eyes were full of curiosity.
"Call me Daddy, and I'll tell you."
"That's mean, how can you use this to trade? My first 'Daddy' has to be in a super special and meaningful moment. I can't just say it. If you don't tell me, Mommy will. Mommy loves me. Mommy..."
"You're gonna be a big brother!" Caleb announced. This good news had to come from him.
"I know, I already have Candy. Wait... you mean... Mommy, you're pregnant?" Oliver jumped up from the chair in surprise.
"Yep." Susan confirmed.
"That's awesome, that's awesome, I'm gonna be a big brother again." Oliver hugged Susan's belly cheerfully.
"Careful, don't bump into your sister," Caleb said.
Oliver stuck out his tongue, "I'm just too happy."
Oliver carefully put his ear to Susan's belly, "Hey there, can you hear me? I'm your big brother. Be good in Mommy's belly and don't give her a hard time, okay?"
"Daddy, Mommy and I will be waiting for you. Be safe, okay?" With that, Oliver gently kissed Susan's belly, "Good girl, I love you."
