Chapter 889 Arranging a Blind Date
Eldon's heart felt like it had been pricked, a dull pain lingering.
His face turned slightly pale.
She still liked Anthony.
Brynn had been glaring at Juniper with annoyance, feeling uncomfortable whenever she smiled.
"Eldon, why aren't you saying anything?"
Brynn noticed Eldon's unhappy expression, "What's wrong? Is it because I complain too much and you find it annoying?"
"No, I will never find you annoying," Eldon said gently. She would always be his most adorable little princess.
Brynn's heart immediately softened, "I know I'm a bit bossy, but I just can't stand it. I don't mean to be. Fine, you're right, it's their business, I don't care. Anyway, it's Anthony's choice, and he'll regret it if he gets hurt."
"What do you want to eat?"
"You know my preferences best, you order for me." Brynn pushed Juniper out of her mind and returned to her cheerful self.
"I've been cooped up at home for days, drinking porridge every day. My taste buds are so bland, I want something with a strong flavor."
"Not yet, steak is already pushing it. How about adding a Black Forest cake?"
"Okay, Eldon, you're like a little worm in my stomach, always knowing what I want." Brynn propped her chin on her hand.
No matter how unhappy she was, as long as Eldon was by her side, she felt like everything would be okay.
"Eldon, you're so good to me, you must be an angel sent by God." Brynn looked at him with sparkling eyes.
"You're my angel."
"Then we're both angels, and angels should never be apart, okay?" She held Eldon's hand.
Eldon's gaze fell on her hand, his throat tightening.
If she knew they were going to be separated, she would be very sad. He was also extremely reluctant and didn't want to leave her.
"What's wrong? You've been acting a bit strange these past two days, sometimes showing a lonely expression."
"Nothing, just feeling too happy being with you." Eldon's throat choked up a bit.
"Isn't happiness supposed to make you smile? Why is the corner of your mouth drooping?"
"Because I'm so happy, sometimes I worry about being apart."
"Then let's never be apart." Brynn said with a smile, "But, would that be too selfish of me? Eldon, you need to have a girlfriend too. Once you have a girlfriend, you won't have time for me, and I'll have to keep my distance. Just thinking about it makes me reluctant."
"Then don't think about it, cherish the present."
"Okay, I'll listen to you." Brynn smiled with crescent-shaped eyes.
That smile made Eldon feel even worse.
After dinner, they went for a walk on the beach before heading home.
Brynn was wearing Eldon's jacket, "Dad."
"Mr. Elise."
"Why are you back so late? Your fever hasn't completely gone away, you shouldn't stay out too long."
"Sorry, Mr. Elise, I didn't manage the time well." Eldon lowered his head.
"It's not Eldon's fault, I insisted on him taking me for a walk on the beach." Brynn quickly said.
"I know it's your stubbornness. Going to the beach at this time, what if you catch a cold again?"
"I won't, Dad, I'm not that fragile." Brynn hugged Atticus's arm, "I've been bored at home, going out to get some sea breeze will help me recover faster. Besides, with Eldon taking care of me, I won't get sick. Right, Eldon?"
Eldon forced a smile, feeling uncomfortable inside.
She relied too much on Eldon, it couldn't go on like this.
"Do you remember Uncle Emilio? He used to live next door but moved abroad later."
"Is he the one with the chubby son?"
"Yes, but now he's grown up and quite handsome. Their family just moved back, and they're not familiar with the area yet. Tomorrow, you take Parker Blair around the city."
Eldon was startled. Arranging a blind date for Brynn so soon?
Was it to separate them immediately? Atticus was so cruel.
But Eldon didn't blame him; he could understand a father's feelings. Atticus adored Brynn and wouldn't let her marry a man like him.
The bitterness in his heart could only be swallowed down.
But Brynn, being simple-minded, didn't realize it was a blind date, "I just got back not long ago, I'm not familiar with the city myself, how can I be a tour guide? Won't I get him lost?"
"Isn't Eldon here?"
"Do I have to? I want to work."
"A girl's focus shouldn't be on work, you need to socialize more, especially since you just got back." Atticus hoped to find a good match for his daughter, a reliable man.
"Dad, what era are we in? We're modern women, very capable."
"You're the capable one." Atticus lovingly pinched her chin, "Alright, go rest early, get up at nine tomorrow to meet him."
"Okay. Eldon, take me upstairs."
"Alright." Eldon glanced at Atticus and went upstairs.
Atticus watched Brynn affectionately link arms with Eldon, feeling a bit heavy-hearted.
They looked like a perfect match, but Eldon's background...
He felt guilty towards both of them but had to be ruthless.
The next day, Brynn met Parker.
Standing at 6.07 feet tall, with a strong build, wearing sunglasses, and quite handsome.
Of course, not as handsome as her Eldon!
"Wow, chubby boy, you've become so handsome!" Brynn playfully punched Parker's chest, "So strong."
"Of course, I work out a lot abroad. You can't call me chubby boy anymore." Parker was excited to see how cute Brynn was.
His family had told him that the Elise family was now wealthier than the Blair family, and they had projects together. He had to win Brynn over.
Marrying her would bring great honor to his family.
And she looked so naive and easy to deceive, he could enjoy himself outside without worry.
Parker was very satisfied with Brynn and confident he could win over this naive woman, but there was another person with her.
"Who is he?"
"This is Eldon, we grew up together, he's always with me."
"Bodyguard?" Parker's tone was a bit disdainful.
"Not a bodyguard, Eldon is my brother, my family." Brynn immediately emphasized.
"Sorry, just a joke."
"Now that I'm here to protect you, you don't need him. Eldon, you can go back." Parker said.
"No, Eldon can't leave, he has to stay with me." Brynn held Eldon's arm, and Eldon looked at Parker coldly, showing no intention of leaving.
Parker cursed inwardly. What was this? Bringing a man to a blind date? Was this an insult? Had he already been cheated on?
Though annoyed, he had to complete the task his family assigned, so Parker held back, "Alright, let's go together."
