Chapter 740 A Definitive End

The man in a sharp suit walked out of the elevator.

Juniper looked up with a smile, and in an instant...

She was struck as if by lightning, completely stunned.

Her body trembled violently. 'Anthony? Why is it him?'

The emotions she had painstakingly calmed over the past three months surged again, like a stormy sea.

In the moment their eyes met, Anthony was also stunned, his blood running cold.

Clearly, this unexpected reunion caught both of them off guard.

Time seemed to stand still, and the air was sucked dry.

Juniper could only hear her own chaotic heartbeat.

Thump, thump, thump—it was racing.

However, the reunion of adults is often like this: no matter how turbulent their hearts are, they hide it well.

Her lips turned a bit pale, and she pretended to be calm, avoiding his gaze.

The moment she looked away, Anthony understood her intention.

She was pretending not to know him.

"I was wondering who created such a legend in the industry in just a few months. Turns out it's Mr. Eilish. Long time no see," Jack, who had dealt with him before, stepped forward enthusiastically to shake hands.

Anthony nodded, dignified and polite.

His gaze shifted from Juniper behind Jack.

"This is my secretary, Juniper. We're all from the same city. What a coincidence. Haha... Mr. Eilish, please come in."

She had come to Libertonia and become the secretary to the general manager of this big company.

In other words, did she come to Libertonia to avoid him?

Anthony's mood was far from calm, with many thoughts swirling in his mind.

Juniper followed them with her head down.

In Jack's office, there was a tea set. "Mr. Eilish, do you like tea? I have some top-quality tea here that you can't even get back home. You must try it. Juniper, make some tea."

"Juniper is a professional at making tea. Not only is she outstanding at her job and beautiful, but her tea-making skills are also top-notch. I'm really lucky to have her as my secretary."

Anthony suddenly felt a bit jealous. If it weren't for what happened back then, if she hadn't resigned, she would still be his secretary.

But now, she belonged to another man, not him.

His possessiveness towards her was really strong, even now.

"Juniper, you must have heard of Mr. Eilish. The Eilish Group is one of the top families back home, and Mr. Eilish himself is outstanding."

Juniper responded lightly, "I've heard of it."

"Mr. Eilish, please have some tea."

She calmly brought the tea over, but in that instant, her eyes caught the ring on his ring finger.

'He's married?' Her mind was instantly in turmoil, and her hand shook, spilling tea and scalding her fingers, turning them red.

She cried out in pain.

Almost simultaneously, Anthony grabbed her hand, "Get the burn ointment!"

"I'm fine."

Jack was stunned for a moment, then quickly got up.

"It's nothing." Juniper forcefully pulled her hand back.

With such a large red mark, how could it be nothing?

She was just resisting his concern.

They had become even more estranged than before.

This made Anthony feel like he was being torn apart.

However, her intention was clear: she wanted to treat him as a stranger.

If he brought up the past or showed too much concern, it would only make her more like a frightened bird, more eager to avoid him.

So, no matter how worried he was inside, Anthony could only hide his emotions and his concern, even though he really wanted to apply the ointment himself when Jack was doing it.

"Sorry, Mr. Eilish. Juniper has never lost her composure before. Maybe it's because of your strong presence, haha."

"No problem." Anthony, to avoid looking at her and to make his behavior seem more natural, took out his phone and pretended to swipe on the black screen.

Juniper lowered her eyelashes and couldn't help but glance at him. 'Who is he texting? His girlfriend? No, now it's his wife. Mrs. Eilish.'

The ring on his ring finger was low-key but glaring.

But she knew it wasn't the ring that was glaring, but the thorn in her heart.

The most self-destructive thing is to make no progress and keep repeating the same mistakes. It's been three months; she couldn't have made no changes at all.

Juniper's mood shifted from the initial turmoil and nervousness to calmness and disillusionment.

No matter how good he was, he was now someone else's husband.

It turns out that completely giving up is such a short process.

The whole morning was spent discussing work, and Juniper didn't think about anything else. Before she knew it, it was noon.

The contract wasn't signed yet, which Juniper understood. Many companies were competing for this project, some with similar strength or offering very generous terms.

It was normal to need time to consider. If Anthony had signed immediately, she would have been worried that it was because of her, which wouldn't be good.

Jack invited Anthony to lunch, but Anthony declined, citing work. Juniper didn't know if it was really because of work, and she didn't want to guess.

After seeing Anthony off, Jack smirked at her, and his first words were, "It seems you have a close relationship with Mr. Eilish."

He didn't say it directly, but the implication was clear.

Jack saw through it at a glance.

She didn't intend to hide it from Jack, nor could she.

Jack smiled, "Professionally, of course, I hope we can use your connection to secure this project. Personally..."

He paused, "You know I value you highly. Mr. Eilish is excellent, but did you see what he's wearing on his ring finger? Married men are poison, untouchable."

"I know." Juniper smiled, relieved.

"Actually, before I saw that ring, I was conflicted too. I didn't expect us to meet this way. But now I've completely let go. This is good. Once you give up, it doesn't matter anymore. Now when I look at him... hmm, he doesn't seem as dazzling as before. He's not as good as you."

"Haha." Jack felt very comfortable with her words, "Good taste."

He added, "If you don't want to be involved, I understand. We can have someone else follow up."

"It's okay, I've come to terms with it now."

Seeing that she wasn't forcing herself, Jack nodded, "That's my good employee. There are plenty of excellent single men out there waiting for your favor. Don't get overwhelmed by choices."

And so, the matter passed, and Juniper focused on her work. Whenever she thought of Anthony, the first thing that came to mind was that ring.

It was like a chasm separating them.

Should she thank God for arranging this meeting, allowing their relationship to come to a definitive end?

In the Bentley downstairs, Anthony looked up at the top floor for a long time before speaking, "Drive."
