Chapter 511 Unable to Move Forward

"Inferiority complex?" Susan's heart did a little flip. Honestly, those words threw her off. Her face got all serious; she’d never even thought about it before.

"No way, right? May seems super confident, not like someone who'd feel inferior," Caleb said. "Inferiority is usually buried deep. She wouldn't show it, especially not around you."

"What do you mean by 'especially not around me'?" Susan asked, confused.

"Because you're the Wilson family's real daughter," Caleb replied.

Susan's brows knitted tighter. She kinda got it but felt something was off. Shaking her head, she said, "May treats me really well. She's not petty, and she wouldn't feel inferior. You've got her all wrong."

Caleb shook his head and smiled indulgently. "You're usually pretty sharp, but when it comes to family, you turn into a little fool."

Susan shot back, "It's not that I'm foolish; it's that I know May better than you do. I'm sure she's not petty."

Caleb opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but ended up swallowing his words.

Since Susan was so sure about May, if Caleb kept pushing, she'd just think he misunderstood May and get upset. He didn't want to mess up their rare moment of peace.

Caleb said, "Maybe I'm overthinking it. I just don't want you to stress too much."

"May's my sister; I can't not worry." Susan thought for a moment and said, "Maybe May just feels a bit down seeing our family so happy together."

Susan muttered to herself for a bit, then her eyes lit up, "It'd be awesome if she had a boyfriend. But it seems like she doesn't have anyone she likes."

Caleb thought to himself, 'Whether May likes me or not is hard to say, but she's definitely been dropping hints. Both obvious and subtle, many times.'

"You must know some eligible guys, right? How about setting one up with May?" Susan figured if May had someone, she wouldn't feel so lonely. Girls needed love.

Caleb couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not really in the matchmaking business right now."

"May's not just anyone; she's family," Susan shot back.

"Oh? So, does that mean you're also my family?" Caleb teased.

Susan was taken aback and gave him a light slap. "That's not what I meant."

"Oh, if you're not family, I won't help," Caleb said.

"You... fine, consider it temporarily," Susan said reluctantly.

"What do you mean by temporarily?" Caleb asked.

Susan explained, "It's not certain yet; my dad hasn't approved of you."

"I think Mr. Wilson likes me."

Susan retorted, "You're so full of yourself, thinking everyone likes you. Stop dodging. Back to the topic, do you have anyone?"

Caleb reminded, "Are you sure you want to do this? Setting someone up has risks. If it works, great. If not, it could be awkward."

"I know, but you have high standards, right? The person you pick shouldn't be bad."

Caleb stroked her hair and said proudly, "That's right, I have excellent taste."

Here we go again, always bringing it back to her. Susan was almost amused by him.

"Then can you keep an eye out for May?" Susan asked.

"Are you sure?"

Susan hesitated for a couple of seconds and nodded. "Yes."

"Alright." Caleb thought maybe setting May up with someone decent would help her shift her focus.

"Then I'll leave it to you. Thanks in advance," Susan said.

Caleb smirked, "Thanks aren't just said with words."

Susan was caught off guard.

"They're done with the mouth," Caleb's slender fingers lightly tapped his lips.

"Haven't you had enough kisses? Are you a kissing fish?" Her lips were already numb from earlier.

"Not enough, never enough," Caleb replied.

Susan gave him a quick peck, but Caleb wasn't letting her off that easy. He cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss, entangling her, not letting go until they were both breathless.

Susan's face was flushed, breathing heavily, her heart pounding.

Caleb's kissing skills were too good, making her whole body heat up.

"What are you thinking?" Caleb's eyes were flirtatious, his voice slightly rising.

"I'm not thinking about anything."

Caleb smiled, "You must be thinking about pouncing on me."

"I'm not!" Susan hurriedly denied, her voice breaking.

People said that those with a guilty conscience raised their voices. Wasn't she just exposing herself?

Caleb smiled without saying a word, his eyes clearly saying: See, you still say no?

Susan wanted to punch him sometimes. "It's getting late; you should go back."

"It's only nine, still early."

Susan explained, "According to the Wilson family's rules, it's already late. If you stay too long, it'll leave a bad impression on my dad."

Caleb was convinced and nodded. "Yeah, gotta leave a good impression of being polite and knowing my place."

"Yes, as long as you know," Susan replied.

They went downstairs.

Moonlight fell on both of them.

Susan looked up at the bright full moon, thinking of family reunion, a happy smile appearing on her face.

"Should I come over again tomorrow?" Caleb asked.

"No, if you keep showing up, my dad won't like it."

'Being too eager isn't good,' Caleb thought. Then he said, "Then shall we meet outside tomorrow?"

Susan declined, "I'll be staying home this weekend to spend time with my parents."

"True, then we won't see each other." Caleb felt very regretful.

He hadn't even left yet and was already reluctant, his legs not wanting to move, wanting to take her with him.

"Then we can video call." He compromised.

"I don't really like video calls."

"No, if I can't see you, I'll miss you a lot, a lot," Caleb said affectionately.

"You're so clingy."

"Isn't being clingy a good thing?" Caleb asked.

Susan didn't really mind, but a 6-foot-tall man clinging to her like a big baby made her feel a bit amused.

Caleb added, "If I can't see you, I'll miss you too much and might come directly..."

"Alright, video call it is." Susan had to agree, "Hurry up and go back."

"Okay. I'll miss you, and you have to remember to miss me too." Caleb kissed her on the cheek.

In the moonlight, Susan's face was as beautiful as a lotus, making his heart flutter, unable to move his feet.

Caleb held her hand, unwilling to let go.

He really loved her so much that he couldn't bear to be apart from her for even a second. Whether physically or spiritually, he wanted to be inseparable with her.

Seeing her was his happiest moment, and parting was his most painful. Missing her every second was both blissful and tormenting.

Finally, with Susan half-pushing and half-coaxing, Caleb got into the car.

She went to the kitchen to get some nutritional supplements and brought them to May.
