Chapter 254 I Don't Want To

Suddenly, the lights dimmed.

Purple lights turned the scene into a romantic ocean.

The music turned into a sacred wedding march.

Nora, wearing a snow-white floor-length wedding gown, had a veil covering her face. She held Ruben's arm and walked step by step along the red carpet toward the altar, amidst the envy and blessings of the crowd.

Darwin looked pleased, nodding and smiling in satisfaction.

Ruben had no expression. He was unhappy with this marriage, but couldn't convince Nora.

Nora's heart pounded wildly. The veil covered her face as she held a beautiful bouquet, like a pure and shy lily.

This day had been a long time coming. From the moment she met Samuel, she'd been eagerly awaiting it. She envisioned a wedding fit for a fairy tale, with Samuel by her side in a majestic castle. Together, they'd embark on a life filled with happiness, like a modern-day prince and princess.

She timidly raised her head, stealing a glance at the distinguished man beside her. To her surprise, his usual indifference was replaced by a calculating gaze, hinting at some hidden agenda.

Nora's heart raced as a sense of unease washed over her, leaving her feeling jittery and apprehensive. A troubling thought crept into her mind, 'Will there be any accidents at tonight's wedding?'

She had always been worried. The more she wanted it to go smoothly, the more she worried about accidents happening.

Nora was so nervous that she almost stumbled.

Ruben held her and patted her hand, looking worriedly at her.

Nora quickly regained her balance, not letting other guests notice that something was wrong. However, her cheeks were flushed with nervousness, and her back was covered in a cold sweat, even her scalp was sweating.

She thought, 'There won't be any accidents, I won't allow it...'

Nora pretended to calmly approach Samuel. The closer she got to him, the more uneasy she felt. She felt like she wasn't at a wedding scene but waiting for torture.

The wedding entered the most anticipated moment.

The entire audience marveled at the brilliance of this newlywed couple.

This scene was as beautiful as a painting. Only with them could there be a true fairy tale.

The priest said to Nora, "Nora, do you want this man to be your husband and enter into a marriage covenant with him to love him, care for him, respect him, accept him, and remain faithful to him until the end of life, regardless of sickness, health, or any other reason?"

Nora answered without hesitation, "I do."

"Samuel, do you want this woman to be your wife and enter into a marriage covenant with her to love her, care for her, respect her, accept her, and remain faithful to her until the end of life, regardless of sickness, health, or any other reason?"

Hundreds of eyes looked at that outstanding man.

He smiled faintly with deep meaning, without speaking.

Ten seconds passed.

Twenty seconds passed.

Darwin thought, 'Samuel wouldn't pull any tricks at this moment, would he?' He was nervous and gave a signal to the priest.

The priest repeated the question again.

Nora's heart pounded wildly.

Could it be...

Samuel slowly said in a low voice, "I don't."

The whole room was in an uproar.

The guests were all stunned.

Did Samuel just say he didn't want to?

The guests thought they heard it wrong.

Everyone was shocked to the core.

This wedding was being broadcast live. From the beginning, it was very grand and was the most luxurious wedding in Avalenia's history. But now, the groom said he didn't want to. Even if it were an ordinary person's wedding, it would be hard to accept. Moreover, this wedding involved two major aristocratic families. How could he do this?

Trouble is brewing.

Darwin slapped the table and stood up. "Samuel, what are you doing? Say that you do."

"I don't want to. Why should I say I want to?" Samuel sneered and glanced at Darwin.

"Don't forget that you..."

"Are you sure you can still threaten me?"

Darwin widened his eyes, his head buzzing.

Before the wedding, he had called to confirm that Caroline was still in his hands, but Samuel's attitude had shaken his confidence.

Although Samuel was Darwin's son, he would not show any mercy to anyone in the Holland family.

His only weakness was his mother, so Darwin had hidden Caroline, threatening Samuel to get married. But he didn't expect Samuel to find her right before the wedding.

Darwin didn't expect that Samuel would refuse to get married at the wedding ceremony to retaliate against him,

Darwin trembled uncontrollably and said in a low voice, "I command you to say ‘you do’. Otherwise, the Holland Group..."

"The Holland Group is now mine," Samuel laughed contemptuously, mocking Darwin for still being stupid enough not to know what was going on. "The Board of Directors had a meeting at ten o'clock this morning. I have officially taken over as president of THE Holland Group."

"What?" Darwin was surprised, his face turning pale. He didn't know about this meeting.

"No way. the Holland Group is what I worked so hard to create, you can't take it away that easily."

"The shareholders of the Holland Group are very cunning. They listen to whoever can make the stock they hold more valuable. Those you think are loyal to you have already defected to me," Samuel sneered with narrowed eyes. It had taken him four years to drive Darwin out of the Holland Group.

"Also, at ten o'clock this morning, Jovan is no longer the vice president of the Holland Group, he's been fired." Samuel relentlessly delivered another piece of news that broke Darwin.

"You as*hole..." Darwin's heart felt a twinge. He covered his heart and sat back in his chair, unable to catch his breath.

He was worried that Samuel would be stronger than him and had been sending people to keep a close eye on him. He thought he could win, but he didn't expect to lose.

Now, Darwin was no longer able to threaten Samuel. Moreover, he had lost the Holland Group. The thought that the business empire he had worked so hard to build up was snatched away by an ambitious brute made Darwin almost faint.

Nora panicked.

Until then, she'd thought she had a chance. She knew he didn't love her, but she hadn't realized that he didn't consider marrying her. He was just using the wedding as a weapon to get back at the Holland family.

The guests came back to their senses and realized two things. First, the president of the Holland Group had changed. Now, the Holland Group was controlled by Samuel. Second, the wedding was a vindictive farce.

Nora was pathetic and unfortunate enough to be a tool.

The scene was dead silent. Everyone was afraid to make a sound or even take a deep breath.

Everyone stared at Nora in silence.
