Chapter 251 Couldn't Marry Anybody Else

Layla widened her eyes. "Tomorrow? Weren't you saying you needed more time?"

"I used to think that way. But I like her too much, Layla. I've never liked someone this much." Owen's eyes revealed deep affection. When he mentioned that girl, he couldn't help but smile. "I'll make an effort. But I want her to be my girlfriend. I don't want to wait even a minute longer."

Layla understood Owen's thoughts. He liked that girl, so he wanted to be with her.

Layla smiled and teased, "If you wear a suit, won't you scare her away?"

"No, she likes men in suits. If I want to tell her I love her, there must be a formal ceremony, right? I can't just ask her to be my girlfriend casually," Owen said seriously. Although he had never been in a relationship before, he felt from the bottom of his heart that if he liked someone, he should give them his best.

He used to think some ceremonies were meaningless. But because he liked her, the ceremony became very important. He didn't want to simply ask, ‘Would you be my girlfriend?’ He wanted to prepare a romantic ceremony for her.

"And, I've already made a reservation at a restaurant. Wearing a suit will make it more formal," Owen said eagerly.

After tomorrow, the girl he liked will become his girlfriend. Thinking about it, he smiled again and felt sweet. Layla was influenced by him and also felt happy.

Love was fair. Some people were heartbroken because of love, while others felt the sweetness of love.

Unfortunately, Layla was the one who was heartbroken. She could only feel the sweetness in Owen's happiness.

Tomorrow would be Owen's happiest day, but it might be the darkest day of her life.

The day before the wedding ceremony.

Nora sat on the bed, lost in thought as she gazed at the diamond-studded wedding dress. Tomorrow, she would finally marry the man she had loved for over a decade. She should feel happy. However, she couldn't get rid of an indescribable feeling.

Nora looked at the beautiful dress hanging before her. It was like a dream come true, making her feel like a princess about to start a fairytale adventure with her prince charming. Everything seemed perfect, but deep down, she felt uneasy. She wondered if this fairytale would truly make her happy, or if something was troubling hidden beneath the surface. As she stared at herself in the mirror, her doubts reflected back at her, leaving her unsure about what the future held.

Nora felt torn inside, but she refused to let doubts take over. She'd invested too much to give up now. Handing Samuel to Layla wasn't an option; she wouldn't let her efforts go to waste. Even if she didn't love Samuel, she was determined to keep him and stop Layla. And despite everything, she still cared for him. Nora gripped the bedsheets tighter, fueled by frustration, her determination unwavering.

Brenda entered the room and sighed when she saw the wedding dress. "Your father is angry again. He said he won't attend the wedding tomorrow."

"What happened?" Nora asked anxiously.

"Just now, the Holland family called and said Samuel won't come pick you up tomorrow morning," Brenda said sadly.

Nora's face immediately turned pale. She thought, 'Why is Samuel doing this? He's humiliating me and the Eilish family. We're supposed to get married. Why does he have to be so cruel to me?'

"Nora, I have to say something that you might not want to hear..."

"If you know I don't want to hear it, then don't say it," Nora interrupted. Nora was lying to herself. Brenda looked at her, feeling sad. She sighed. "Even though the wedding is tomorrow, you still have time to change your decision."

"I've put too much effort into this to just give up now," Nora snapped back at Brenda, her frustration evident in her tone.

Brenda offered a different perspective, her voice tinged with wisdom born of experience. "Marriage without love won't bring you happiness. Trust me, I've learned the hard way," she cautioned. "It's not about power or wealth; it's about being with someone who truly loves you."

But Nora remained resolute in her belief. "He'll come to love me," she reassured herself, clinging to the hope that her efforts would eventually win him over.

"You can't gamble your happiness on an uncertain future. Nora, I'm just looking out for you..."

"If you're looking out for me, go persuade my father. I need to contact the videographer and tell them not to come to the house. We'll livestream the wedding at the hotel," Nora said.

She thought, 'I want to show everyone my most glamorous side, especially to make Layla see how happy I am and how grand my wedding is. I want Layla to know I am the winner. It doesn't matter if Samuel doesn't come to pick me up or if he humiliates me. These are all just temporary. The most important thing is that I am the one that he is marrying.'

Layla stayed awake all night, keeping her eyes open until dawn. Her rational mind told her she should sleep. However, her thoughts kept drifting back to the sweet moments she shared with Samuel in the past. Those memories made her sad, and she felt like her heart was slowly being hollowed out. Exhausted, Layla arrived at the office. Susan was on a business trip, and a few female colleagues were watching the live broadcast together. The wedding was scheduled for 7 p.m., but the live stream had started at 10 a.m.

"The hall looks so beautiful! It's like a real castle."

"Yes, they spent 10 million dollars on it. After the wedding, all these decorations will be taken down. Such a waste."

"It's a wedding for two wealthy individuals. They don't care about money as long as the wedding makes a splash."

"If I could have a luxurious wedding like this, I'd die happy right now."

"Me too."

"I heard Miss Eilish's wedding dress is worth two million dollars, covered in diamonds."

"It must be stunning!"

"We'll see it tonight. Miss Eilish has a great figure and presence. She must look gorgeous in her wedding dress."

"I can't wait to see Mr. Holland. He's always been low-key and mysterious. Finally, we get to see him. His allowing of the live broadcast shows how much he values this wedding."

"It's because he's head over heels for Miss Eilish. They're like the epitome of perfection, straight out of a fairy tale,"

"No, they are the prince and princess of real life. Us ordinary folks can only watch from the sidelines and wish we had what they have,"

Layla felt dizzy.

Her colleagues' voices felt sharp, piercing her heart. She heard many blessings for Samuel and Nora and had to admit they were a perfect match.

They seemed destined for each other. Only a woman like Nora standing by Samuel's side would not evoke jealousy from anyone.

Everyone would just wish them well. Layla thought, 'If I were the bride, things would be completely different.

‘How does Samuel see me? Am I just a passing figure in his life, an accident, or a mere episode? In any case, I'm not the one who will be with him until the end.' Layla suddenly felt afraid.

How would she get through today?
