Chapter 793 Just a Little Bit Off
Hera suddenly realized that this was the first time in a while that she had spoken rationally and calmly.
Just like she said, she had turned into a crazy woman, always screaming hysterically. Really, she was tired.
As a neurologist, she was almost becoming a neurotic patient herself. How terrifying and ironic.
Anthony heard this and felt complicated, but there was no point in dwelling on it now. The situation was what it was, and they couldn't travel back in time. They could only think about the future.
But undeniably, he felt relieved. He was a traditional person, and a girl's first sexual experience was very precious. It might not mean much to others, but it was a big deal to him. Fortunately, it didn't happen...
Hera suddenly laughed, "How did two good people suddenly go crazy? I really miss the time when we were just friends. Even if I had a crush on you, at least I was happy, not heartbroken like now."
"Yeah."
"After all that's happened, maybe we can't be friends anymore." Hera smiled bitterly, "But hating someone is exhausting, and I don't want to keep hating you."
"Go ahead, whether you find Juniper or fall in love with another girl in the future, it has nothing to do with me."
"Anthony, I'm setting you free. We're completely over."
Walking out of Hera's house, the blinding sunlight hurt Anthony's eyes. He had been so down lately, like a vampire afraid of the light.
Everything between him and Hera was over. He couldn't let himself fall any further.
'Anthony, you need to start over,' he told himself.
Half a month later, in Juniper's apartment in Libertonia.
Juniper was curled up barefoot in Brice's arms, the two of them snuggled on the couch video chatting with Aaron.
"Those two women haven't caused any trouble lately, have they?" Juniper asked.
Aaron laughed, "You ask this every three days when we video chat."
"Well, I'm worried about you."
"I'm in great health and my mind is clear. You don't need to worry about me. But you, I've heard the crime rate in Harmony City isn't great lately. Why don't you just live with Brice? I'll feel better knowing he's home at night."
That wasn't what he meant at all. What he really wanted was for them to get married, and Juniper knew it very well.
"My place is small, it can't fit two people."
"That's not a problem. Dad has plenty of houses in Harmony City. I can find one for you two, and you can move in together tomorrow."
"My dear dad, please don't meddle in our affairs."
"You're my daughter. How can I not care about your affairs? When are you two getting married?"
Jumping straight from living together to marriage, Juniper rolled her eyes. She knew it.
"We're still young and busy with our careers. Marriage can wait."
"Why can't you focus on your career after getting married? You'll be more focused on work after marriage."
"Alright, if we get married, you'll definitely start pushing for kids. Don't I know you? I think dating like this is great. Brice and I are both enjoying it."
Juniper continued, "Besides, we've only been dating for a little over a month. It's too early to talk about marriage. Maybe in a year or two."
"Keep dragging it out, aren't you afraid Brice will leave you?"
"Would you dare leave me?" Juniper raised an eyebrow.
"No way, no way. I'll marry you whenever you're ready, but I do hope you'll marry me soon," Brice said with a smile.
"See, he's so sincere. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and marry him," Aaron said with a laugh.
"Alright, alright, I'm going to sleep now. Goodnight." Juniper quickly hung up the phone.
Shaking her head helplessly, she complained, "Every time, he pushes us to get married. It's so frustrating."
"It shows your dad really wants you to marry me soon."
"It's too early."
"It's not early at all. Your dad already wants me to call him 'Dad.' How about we register our marriage first? Otherwise, I won't feel at ease," Brice said half-jokingly.
"What? Afraid I'll run away?"
"Of course." He pinched her chin, "With such a beautiful girlfriend, how can I not worry about you running away?"
"No rush, I still need to consider."
"Consider? Am I not good enough?"
"No, you're already great, but there's always someone better. I'll wait and see if there are any other young handsome guys, maybe still in high school."
"You heartless woman." Brice bit her lip.
He originally intended to give her a small punishment, but once he touched her lips, he got addicted.
Tasting the sweetness, he couldn't help but kiss her deeper, and they both fell onto the couch.
Juniper felt his growing desire, a man's...
When his hand touched her waistline, she shivered and pressed his hand, "No..."
"Juniper, I..."
Brice's pupils tightened, filled with uncontrollable emotion. "It's been a month already..."
"It's still a bit too soon." Juniper's scalp tingled.
Although it was normal, she was still traditional at heart, and... her body was still tense, not ready.
"Really can't?" Brice frowned, still unwilling to give up, "It's so hard."
"Sorry, can you wait a bit longer?"
"Alright." Brice sighed deeply.
"What's wrong? Are you mad?"
"No."
"Look at your face, you are mad." Juniper bit her lip, "I'm sorry..."
"It's not your fault, you don't need to apologize." Brice forced a smile, "Can I stay tonight? I'll sleep on the couch, I won't do anything."
"You... you should go back..." This was the third time he had made such a request, and every time she refused, Juniper felt a sense of guilt.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I'm still used to being alone at night."
"When will you accept me?" Brice sighed.
"I will, soon."
"You always say that. I don't know if you're just brushing me off." Brice shook his head, "I'll go back first then. I'll pick you up for work tomorrow morning."
"Okay. See you tomorrow." Juniper kissed him on the cheek.
Closing the door, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She really trusted Brice and felt the timing was almost right, but she just couldn't get past that final hurdle.
As for that hurdle, it seemed like a barrier set in her mind, one she wasn't even aware of, almost instinctual.
Every time it got to that point, alarm bells would ring, and she wanted to refuse.
But aside from that, everything else was great.
Brice pampered her. She had gotten used to him picking her up and dropping her off at work every day, working together, and sometimes coming to her place to cook after work. Then they'd play a game or watch a movie together.
For someone who resisted intimacy, not rejecting daily companionship was already a big deal.
Brice was gradually becoming a part of her life.
But there was always that little bit missing. What exactly was it?
