Chapter 484 Refusing Surgery
Susan's face was just an inch from Caleb's, and he easily stopped her.
He did it on purpose again!
Susan was annoyed but couldn't break free from his grip.
She twisted and pulled her hand back, but Caleb quickly kissed it.
"You..."
Pervert!
Caleb chuckled. "You bragged about your drinking, but after just a can and a bit more, you threw up. Should I have let you sleep in vomit-covered clothes?"
"Better than you seeing everything. You used it as an excuse to see me," Susan fumed. "Shameless."
"I admit I want to see you, but not like that," Caleb laughed.
"Who asked you to stay over?"
"I stayed to take care of you. You were drunk; you couldn't be left alone."
He was clearly using her drunkenness as an excuse.
Susan regretted drinking in front of him. If she ever drank in front of him again, she'd punish herself by getting drunk after just one drink.
Wait, if she got drunk after one drink, wouldn't it be easier for him to take advantage of her?
Susan was angry but didn't know how to vent it.
"From now on, you're not allowed to shower at my place."
"I got dirty from your vomit too. I didn't want to stink you out," Caleb said casually.
"Caleb, aren't you tired of using my drinking as an excuse?"
"It's not an excuse; it's a fact." Caleb, in a good mood, pinched her chin. "You are so cute when you're drunk." He'd never forget it.
"Bastard." Susan slapped his hand away and kicked him off the bed.
It seemed nothing inappropriate had happened, so he still had some decency left.
But Susan still glared at him. "If you dare take advantage of me, I'll kill you."
"I would never force you or take advantage of you if you didn't want it," Caleb said, holding onto his principles.
Susan felt a bit more at ease but still wouldn't let him off verbally. "That's basic decency. Don't act like I should thank you."
"I'm not asking you to thank me. Just don't hate me; that would break my heart."
He sounded so sincere...
Susan's heart skipped a beat.
"I'm going to freshen up. I'm not talking to you anymore." Susan hurriedly got out of bed but stumbled and fell into Caleb's arms. He smiled. "You came to me on your own."
Susan just wanted to punch Caleb and pushed him away.
In the bathroom, Susan splashed cold water on her face. Once she calmed down, she walked out.
Caleb had already prepared a table full of breakfast. She had no idea where he got the small round table from, but it had all kinds of breakfast items.
"Breakfast time," Caleb said, pulling out a chair for her.
Susan didn't want to argue with her stomach and sat down. "Don't think a breakfast can make up for everything."
"It's better than doing nothing, isn't it?"
That made sense.
Susan took a bite of the sandwich, and her mood improved a bit.
"Dr. Diaz should be in the country by now, right?" Susan asked.
"Yeah, he's checked into the hotel and will be at the hospital around ten."
"Good. Don't let my dad know I asked for your help."
"I know what to do."
Susan trusted him. Caleb always made her feel at ease.
Hopefully, the surgery would go smoothly. Caleb was really doing her a big favor.
Downstairs.
"Maurice, thank goodness Dr. Diaz is doing your surgery. It'll definitely be a success," Carol said happily.
"Dr. Diaz? The top heart surgeon? That's amazing! Mr. Eilish is incredible!" May praised.
"May..." Carol tried to stop her, but it was too late.
Maurice's face tightened. "What does this have to do with Caleb? Did he arrange for the doctor?"
Carol quickly waved her hand. "No, Maurice, we were just lucky, and Dr. Diaz happened to be back in the country..."
"Do you think I'm an idiot? I can't even get an appointment with good doctors here, and we just happened to run into Dr. Diaz?"
"Sometimes luck is hard to explain..."
"You're lying to me again!" Maurice was furious. "I said I wouldn't have anything to do with that ungrateful daughter, especially not with Caleb. I'd rather die than have a doctor he found."
"Maurice, your health is important."
"Yes, Dad. Who found the doctor doesn't matter; no one outside will know."
Maurice was even more annoyed. Pointing to his heart, he said, "No one outside may know, but I can't get over it myself. Wouldn't that make me a liar too?"
"Maurice, don't gamble with your health. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let's talk about everything after the surgery."
"Are you deaf or just don't understand? I won't do it! Cancel it! Cancel it now! I don't want to see that doctor! I don't want to see any of you! Get out, all of you!" Maurice drove them all out.
Upstairs.
"Have another egg," Caleb said, using a knife and fork to give Susan a piece of fried egg.
Susan, feeling full, rubbed her stomach. "No, no, I can't eat anymore. If I eat more, I'll throw up."
"It's okay, you're too thin. Eat a bit more, don't waste it."
Susan glared at him. "Didn't you think about waste when you ordered so much? This is too much for even three or four people, let alone the two of us."
"I thought you'd have a good appetite when you woke up."
"Do you think I'm a pig? How much do you think I can eat?" Susan said irritably. "How big do you think my stomach is?"
"Eat a bit more; it's good for recovery."
"Don't end up back in the hospital because you overate; that would be counterproductive."
Caleb couldn't help but laugh. "Is it that exaggerated? Okay, no more food. Have some orange juice to get some vitamin C." He pushed the orange juice towards her.
"I can't eat anymore, let alone drink. Are you trying to fatten me up?"
"Solid and liquid are different; you can still have the latter. Drink some water, and you'll flush it out later."
Susan waved her hands, refusing to eat or drink any more.
She glanced at her phone. "It's nine-thirty. Dr. Diaz should be there by now."
As soon as she finished speaking, Caleb's phone rang. After listening, he frowned. "Okay, I understand."
"What happened? What's wrong?" Susan noticed something was off and asked quickly.
"Your father found out I arranged the doctor and refused the surgery."
