Chapter 480 Do You Want to Force Him to Death?
Caleb knew asking was pointless. How could she be okay given everything? He just didn't know how to comfort her. He was the one who caused her so much pain, making her estranged from her family.
Susan gave a bitter smile, tears in her eyes. "You still have me and Oliver. We're your family."
"Don't worry, I'll make Mr. Wilson accept you again," Caleb promised.
Morning.
Carol quietly left the hospital room with a thermos. As she turned around...
"Mom."
"Susan. Come with me." Carol pulled Susan aside. "Are you staying here too?"
"Yeah, just a minor injury. How's Dad? Is it serious?"
Carol sighed. "His heart's been bad for years, and he's been stressed with work. He's been in and out of the hospital a lot lately. The doctor says he needs bypass surgery soon, but it's hard to get the best doctor."
"I'll handle it," Susan said quickly.
"Are you thinking of asking Mr. Eilish for help?"
Susan nodded.
"But if your dad finds out, he'll be even angrier," Carol said worriedly.
"Then don't let him know. We need the best doctor for this surgery."
"True, but..."
Susan gripped Carol's hand. "Dad's surgery is the most important thing."
Carol hesitated, then nodded. "Alright. But we must keep it a secret from him."
"Okay."
Carol looked at Susan, tears welling up. "Susan, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Susan choked up.
"Your dad used to dote on you the most. How did it come to this? He's just too stubborn and proud. We're family, why make it so hard?"
"It's my fault, I tarnished the Wilson family's reputation."
"I don't think you did it on purpose. Like Mr. Eilish said, he hid things from you at the beginning, right? I believe my daughter would never get involved with a man who has a fiancée."
Susan said nothing.
"Fate is cruel," Carol shook her head. "How's the child?"
"He's a boy, three years old, named Oliver. He's very well-behaved." Mentioning her son, a glimmer of light appeared in Susan's eyes.
"Really? I'd love to meet him." Carol had been thinking about her little grandson all these years.
"If you're free tomorrow, I'll bring him to see you."
"That would be nice, but what if your dad finds out..."
"Then I'll wait for you in the hospital room."
"Alright, I'll find a time to see you tomorrow morning after your dad rests."
"Okay."
The next morning, in the hospital room.
Oliver kept running to the door to look out. "Mommy, why isn't Grandma here yet?"
Oliver was wearing a little suit with a red bow tie, looking like a little gentleman, cute and handsome.
"She'll be here soon," Susan said, feeling good, as she patted Oliver's head.
"Mommy, you seem very nervous. Don't worry, Grandma will definitely like me."
"Yes, our Oliver is so likable, Grandma will definitely like Oliver too," Susan had no doubt about that.
They waited and waited until it was almost eleven.
"Susan."
"May." Susan stood up and glanced behind May. "Where's Mom?"
May sighed. "Dad found out about this, he's very upset and wouldn't let Mom come."
"Dad got angry? Is he okay?" Susan was really worried. Her dad's heart couldn't handle stress now.
"You know his condition. He can't get angry; he almost had another incident."
Susan felt guilty. "It's all my fault..."
"Susan, you were reckless. Knowing Dad wouldn't allow it, you still insisted on seeing Mom. How could he not get angry?" May shook her head, her words tinged with blame.
Susan felt even worse, heavier with guilt.
Oliver looked up. "Mommy, is this Aunt May?"
"Yes, she's Mommy's sister."
"Aunt May, I'm Oliver." Oliver was very polite.
"Good boy," May smiled, patting his face, but she wasn't warm.
To be honest, she was jealous of Susan. Susan had always been favored, with better looks, talent, and a better family environment. After their parents' accident, May was taken in by Susan's family, and she felt the unfairness even more.
Susan's parents said they treated her like their own daughter, but they were still biased towards Susan. Over time, May's resentment grew, but she felt helpless.
Then, four years ago, things changed. Susan became someone else's mistress, got pregnant, and was kicked out of the Wilson family. Maurice and Carol always thought about Susan, but May became the sole heir.
But now, Susan was back, causing a huge scandal. And her man was Caleb, the vice president of the Eilish Group, every woman's dream guy.
Even her son was adorable. Maurice and Carol would definitely change their minds when they saw this cute child. Then May would be the one distanced, and all her efforts to please them would be in vain.
Thinking of this, May felt heavy-hearted and extremely jealous.
"Aunt May, have some water."
"Aunt May, do you want some watermelon? It's very sweet." Oliver kept offering, but May's attitude was cold.
"Susan, I want to talk to you alone," May said.
Before Susan could respond, Oliver went to play by himself.
"Susan, your injury is almost healed. You should get discharged soon. Otherwise, you might run into Mom and Dad and upset them," May said bluntly.
"But I don't want to avoid them. This needs to be resolved eventually," Susan replied. "I am their daughter; that will never change. I've been avoiding it for so long, now I want to repair the relationship and seek their forgiveness."
"Do you think Dad, with his personality, will forgive you?"
"Dad is getting old," Susan meant that people soften with age.
"Precisely because Dad is getting old, he can't take any stress," May shook her head. "His heart is already problematic. If you stress him now, are you trying to kill him?"
That was too much. Susan felt uncomfortable. "He's my dad. I want him to be healthy. How could I want to kill him?"
"You think that way, but you're not acting that way. Just because you secretly wanted to meet Mom, Dad got furious. Isn't that stressing him?"
Susan shook her head. "I never intended to cut ties with my family forever. I believe time can change things. I'm just waiting."
