Chapter 598: The Wife I Can't Call Enough

"You're too cute, you know that? So, it wasn't me but you who fell head over heels first," Caleb said, all smug.

"Does it even matter?" Susan shot back.

"Totally does. Gives me bragging rights," Caleb teased, giving her waist a playful pinch. "You little sneak, you waited all these years to spill the beans."

"Hey, I'm a girl, can't I play it cool? Besides, even if I did fall for you first, you were the one who made the first move, so technically, you chased me. No difference," Susan said, all confident. Girls always care about who chased who; it's gotta be the guy to keep up appearances.

"Yep, I went after my gorgeous wife first, scared someone else might swoop in."

"You were such a smooth talker. Looking back, you must've hit on a ton of women to be that slick," Susan said, pouting.

"No way," Caleb raised his right hand like he was swearing an oath. "Women always came to me; I never had to hit on anyone. You were the first girl I ever approached."

"Really?"

"Yep, I swear, the first girl I ever hit on is now my amazing wife. If I'm lying, I..."

Susan quickly covered his mouth, "Dummy, no need to swear on something like that. Of course, I believe you. I was just messing with you."

"You're the best, babe," Caleb kissed her fingers, sending shivers down her spine and making her let out a soft moan.

"Hubby..."

That one word "hubby" sounded so sweet, it almost made Caleb melt. "Say it again, babe."

"Hubby..."

"Babe, I love you." Caleb covered her lips, kissing her deeply and over and over, his kisses trailing down her neck and all over her.

Susan couldn't help but grip the bedsheet tightly, "Hubby..."

Next door.

Two kids' beds.

Matching cups, Candy's blanket was pink, Oliver's was blue, both with Baymax designs.

The beds were close together, and the little ones slept at the edge, holding hands across the gap.

"Oliver, from today on, we're really a family," Candy said happily.

"Yeah." Oliver said.

"Oliver, when Mommy's baby is born, will you still love me the same?"

"Of course, silly. You'll always be my cutest sister. My love for you will never change."

"That's awesome. I love you."

"I love you too, Candy."

The two innocent, adorable faces smiled at each other, holding hands as they drifted into dreamland.

Six months flew by.

Late December, it was freezing outside.

But inside, it was warm and cozy. Susan had a great sleep and woke up feeling super comfy.

The sunlight outside was just right.

The pillow beside her was empty.

Laughter came from downstairs.

Susan felt so at peace.

Waking up to see the sunlight and hear her husband and kids' happy laughter made her life feel perfect, her heart full of joy.

Her hand rested on her high, rounded belly. "Good morning, baby."

She got up to freshen up.

Even though her face was a bit puffy from pregnancy, she looked radiant, her eyes bright and full of life, her lips rosy, and her skin smooth and flawless like a pearl.

Susan smiled at herself in the mirror.

Downstairs, one big and two small figures were busy decorating the Christmas tree.

"The top of the Christmas tree should have a little snowman," Candy said sweetly.

"Christmas trees should have stars on top, Candy," Oliver said.

"But I like the little snowman. It's so cute."

"Santa Claus is kind too."

"Oliver... the little snowman, please? Let's put the little snowman on top," Candy pleaded, hugging Oliver's arm.

"Alright, the little snowman it is. Whatever Candy says goes," Oliver was completely under Candy's control.

"Keep it down, don't wake your mom," Caleb said, placing the little snowman on top.

"I'm already awake," Susan said.

"Good morning, honey," Caleb greeted.

"Good morning, Mommy!" the two little ones said in unison.

"Wait, let me help you." Caleb quickly walked up to the second floor, carefully supporting Susan like she was a queen, gently reminding her, "Walk slowly, watch the steps."

"I'm just going downstairs, I can manage," Susan said, finding him overly cautious.

But to Caleb, nothing was too much, "You're precious right now."

"You're exaggerating."

"Mommy, we're decorating the Christmas tree. Does it look good? I did this part," Oliver eagerly showed off his work, "This part was done by Candy."

"It looks great, both of you did a wonderful job," Susan said with a smile, her round face looking especially kind. "My two little darlings are amazing."

She bent down and kissed their adorable little faces.

"I'm amazing too," Caleb said, leaning in for a kiss.

"Alright, you're amazing too," Susan said, used to his childishness, often competing with the kids for attention. She gave him a kiss, amused.

Caleb was delighted.

"Keep going, tonight is Christmas Eve, and we still have to open presents," Susan said, sitting on the couch to watch.

"Did you hear that? Keep going, I'll stay with your mom."

The two little ones eagerly continued.

Susan teased, "You're just looking for an excuse to be lazy."

"How can you call this being lazy? Being with my wife is the most important thing," Caleb said, now like a clingy child, spending all his time at home with his wife and kids when not working, going nowhere else.

Watching Oliver and Candy happily running around, Susan couldn't help but feel sentimental, "Do you remember how we spent Christmas last year?"

"Yes. It snowed that day, Oliver had just had surgery, and we spent it in the hospital with him."

"Yes, it was tough back then," Susan said, shaking her head.

Caleb hugged her soft, fragrant body. Pregnant women seemed to have a particularly pleasant scent, "Yes, but it's all in the past. Now, we're reaping the rewards. We're adding a new addition to the family next Christmas, and things are going to be much more lively."

"Yes," Susan imagined the scene. She used to think one child was enough, but now she loved the idea of a bustling household. Three kids, yes, that would be perfect.

In the future, when they grow up a bit, they could travel the world as a family of five.

That day would come soon.

By noon, it started snowing, and the snow got heavier. When Susan woke up from a nap, the yard was already covered in a thick layer of snow.

"Mommy, wake up for a snowball fight," Oliver burst into the room excitedly.

Candy, like a little tail, tagged along Oliver, bouncing and jumping with excitement, "Mommy! Mommy!"
