Chapter 791 Can't Stop Worrying
"And what are you going to do? Hit me? It's not like you haven't hit me before. Come on, hit me!"
"Hit me!" Elara leaned her face forward.
Juniper laughed instead of getting angry. "You want me to hit you so you can tattle to my dad, right? But let me tell you, even if I did hit you today, my dad would say you deserved it."
"Elara, understand your situation. If you don't start behaving, I'll kick you out in no time."
Elara couldn't stop trembling, almost crying in anger in front of her.
'Bitch, that bitch!' she cursed in her heart.
"Mrs. Cooper, something terrible has happened. Ms. Saffron Cooper tried to kill herself!"
"Saffron—"
Saffron had slit her wrists, and Elara immediately called the family doctor.
Elara wailed, "Poor Saffron, why would you do this?"
"Juniper, Saffron was driven to suicide by you. Are you happy now? You murderer! If anything happens to Saffron, I won't let you off!"
Juniper stood aside, coldly glancing at the cuts on Saffron's wrist, and smirked. "Don't worry, with such shallow cuts, she wouldn't die even if she made ten more."
She couldn't help but think, 'Come on, if you're going to commit suicide, at least be sincere about it. Such a shallow cut, barely any blood, who are you trying to scare? Disturbing people's sleep in the middle of the night.'
Juniper yawned, feeling very sleepy. She couldn't be bothered with such melodramatic nonsense.
"You—"
"Aaron, listen to her! How heartless can she be? Saffron tried to kill herself, and Juniper wishes she were dead!" Elara said, her eyes red.
Aaron wasn't a fool. He could see that Saffron wasn't really trying to kill herself, but given the situation, he couldn't say it outright. "Juniper, go back to your room and rest."
"Dad, you should get some sleep too."
Listen to them, talking as if nothing happened. Elara was heartbroken.
"Aaron, your daughter tried to kill herself, and you're so indifferent. She's your own daughter..."
"Do you want to drive her to death?" Elara cried miserably.
"The doctor will take care of her."
"I want Juniper to atone! She killed Saffron's baby and now drove her to suicide. Should we just let it go? Is her life worth more than Saffron's?"
"Isn't she fine?" Aaron was getting a headache.
"That's only because we found Saffron in time. If we had been a moment later, she'd be dead. How can you say something like that?"
Juniper wanted to say that with those mosquito-bite-like cuts, she wouldn't die even by tomorrow. But considering Aaron's feelings, she swallowed her words. "Brice, let's go to sleep."
"Okay."
"You're not going anywhere! Juniper!"
"Why stay? Do you want me to piss you off too?" Juniper snorted and walked away.
"Look at her! Aaron!"
"Alright, you and the doctor take care of her. I'm tired, I'm going back to my room." Aaron said and left.
The next day, the day before Juniper returned to Libertonia.
Saffron woke up, painfully remorseful.
"Dad, Juniper, I was wrong. This was my fault... I'm really sorry..."
Elara was heartbroken. "They hurt you, and you're apologizing?"
"No, Mom, it's my fault. After the miscarriage, I was devastated, like I was possessed, doing things I couldn't believe myself. No, I didn't even know what I was doing, it was like a nightmare."
Juniper couldn't help but applaud the performance, portraying the innocent woman possessed by a demon so vividly.
She wasn't possessed; she was the demon!
"Luckily, Dad locked me up. After reflecting for a day and two nights, I deeply realized my mistakes. Dad, I was really wrong. I apologize to Juniper and Brice, I'm truly sorry."
Juniper thought, 'If she could reflect on her mistakes so easily, would she have done so many disgusting things?'
No one would believe it, even a dog would laugh.
"Dad, please forgive me this once."
After a suicide attempt, Aaron couldn't be too harsh, so he said, "Just behave from now on, okay?"
"Yes, I will, Dad. I'll be good. Juniper, Brice, please forgive me." Saffron said, smiling through her tears.
But as soon as they left, Saffron's face turned cold and vicious.
"They hurt you, and you're apologizing? It's too much." Elara said, heartbroken.
Saffron's face remained cold. "Dad favors that little bitch. If I don't apologize, do you really want me to starve for three days and nights? I'd be dead by then."
"Besides, in our current situation, if we don't behave, we'll be kicked out immediately. Do you want to sleep on the streets?"
"It's too much for you, Saffron. It's my fault... I've dragged you down."
"You are quite useless."
Elara was stunned by these words.
"Why are you looking at me? Am I not telling the truth? If you had Juniper's mom's wealth and Juniper's abilities, I wouldn't be in this mess."
Elara was speechless, but being blamed by her daughter made her feel very uncomfortable. "I..."
"Enough, I'm starving. Get me something to eat."
As they went back upstairs, Brice asked, "Do you really believe Saffron will turn over a new leaf?"
Juniper laughed and pinched his cheek. "Oh, my boyfriend, how can you be so naive? Haha, you're too cute. Believe her? I might as well believe pigs can fly."
"But she cried so pitifully just now."
"Just acting. Believe her repentance? No, I only believe that people don't change. But with their spirits crushed, they won't dare to act up for a while. I can leave with some peace of mind."
"Yeah, that's true. Speaking of which, I can't help but turn into a fan and praise my smart girlfriend."
"My fan is so cute."
That night, Juniper was packing her luggage.
"Baby, baby?" Brice waved his hand in front of her. "What are you thinking about? You seem a bit down."
"Maybe a little worried..." Juniper snapped out of it. "Once I leave, my dad will be alone here."
"Didn't you say they would behave for a while?"
"That's what I said, but they will still cause trouble. I'm afraid they'll stress my dad out. But my dad refuses to come back to Libertonia with me."
"Don't worry, I think your dad's been in good health lately. He'll be fine."
"Hopefully." Juniper smiled bitterly.
Besides Aaron, there was another person she couldn't stop worrying about, and that was Anthony.
Since the wedding incident, she hadn't heard anything about him. She didn't know where he was or how he was doing.
She tried hard not to think about him, but occasionally, he would still pop into her mind, making her worry.
