Chapter 539 Thank God

After a week of Tyler's nonstop chasing, May finally gave in.

Susan was over the moon when she heard and decided to throw a weekend BBQ at the villa.

Spring was here, and the weather was perfect. The sky was clear, not a cloud in sight. Caleb's suburban villa was all green and lush.

Tyler held May's hand the whole time, being all sweet and caring.

With his attention, May felt happier than ever. She even stopped comparing Tyler to Caleb; her eyes were glued to Tyler.

"What do you wanna drink? Soda or beer?" Tyler asked.

"Beer," May replied.

"Cool, I'll grab it for you." Tyler kissed May on the cheek before heading off.

Susan brought over some cut fruit and plopped down next to May with a sigh, "May, Mr. Thompson is so good to you. I'm so jealous."

"Yeah, he's really good to me." May didn't hide her joy, her face lit up with a big smile. Lately, she’d been in the best mood ever, seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.

"Look at you, grinning like a Cheshire cat," Susan teased.

"No way. Aren't you and Mr. Eilish all lovey-dovey too?"

"Not really, I haven't agreed to date him yet, so you and Mr. Thompson will definitely tie the knot first. Have you guys talked about it?" Susan replied.

"He made it clear from the start he was dating me with marriage in mind. So if we get hitched in three months, don't be shocked." Honestly, from the moment she said yes, May had been thinking about marriage.

With Tyler being such a catch, she worried other women might snatch him away.

"Wow, you guys are moving fast." Susan was genuinely happy for her. "So sometimes blind dates really work out. When the conditions are right and the vibe is good, you can jump into marriage way quicker than dating on your own."

May nodded. "True, I know a lot of friends like that."

"May, congrats to you both."

"Thanks." May smiled, no longer feeling any bad vibes towards Susan. She even thought maybe she’d been too paranoid before. Maybe Susan really did have her back, after all, the guy she introduced was pretty solid, right?

"Susan, come here for a sec." Caleb called her.

"May, I'll be right back." Susan left May and walked over to Caleb. "What's up?"

"Come with me to the second floor."

"Why?" Susan was puzzled.

"You'll see." Caleb took her hand.

"So mysterious..."

"What are you up to?" Susan was led into a room.

Caleb locked the door.

"What are you doing? You don't mean to..." Susan blushed. "No way, May and Tyler are still downstairs."

Caleb flicked her forehead. "What are you thinking about all day? Your mind is in the gutter. How much do you crave my body?"

Susan rubbed her forehead. "Clearly, it's you who craves my body."

"I've always craved your body, you just noticed?" Caleb pinned her against the door, his hands around her waist, his forehead against hers, flashing a wicked grin. "Since you want it so bad, why don't we..."

"Caleb, cut it out." Susan dodged his kiss, his breath tickling her neck, making her giggle. "Can you chill? Caleb, if you keep this up, I'm heading downstairs."

"Alright, alright, I'll stop." Caleb let her go. "I got a gift for you."

"What gift?" Susan's eyes lit up. Girls loved surprises.

"In that drawer." Caleb pointed.

"What is it?" Susan asked.

"You'll see."

"So mysterious, it's not a bomb, is it?" Susan joked as she opened the drawer, and then she froze.

Inside the drawer was a ring box.

Her heart started pounding like crazy.

She took out the ring and turned to Caleb, stunned. "You... a ring... You're not planning to propose, are you? Caleb, we haven't even officially dated yet. This is so sudden, I..." Susan was at a loss for words.

"Listen to me." Caleb held her shoulders. "Even though I can't wait to marry you, I know you need time. I'm giving you this ring hoping that one day, I can put it on your finger myself, not to rush you now. Susan, I just want to tell you, I love you and want to be with you, and I hope you can accept me. I had all these grand plans, like a candlelight dinner, fireworks, or a trip abroad. But in the end, I chose the simplest but most sincere way. I don't want to stay in this friend zone. I want to be your man. Accept me, Susan, be my girlfriend, let me spoil you. Okay?"

Even though they already had a kid, Caleb was still willing to take it slow and start from dating.

Susan was touched, and her heart had long leaned towards Caleb.

"Caleb... I..."

Caleb held his breath, looking at her. He knew Susan loved him, but he was still scared she might reject him because of the unresolved stuff in her heart.

That would be enough to make him feel like living death.

Caleb looked nervous.

Susan smiled, walked up to him, and slowly stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek.

"What does this mean?" Caleb was stunned.

"You idiot, if you don't get it, forget it." Susan pretended to leave but was pulled back into Caleb's arms.

"Does this mean you accept me? Susan." Caleb asked excitedly.

"Can't be bothered with you."

"Is it?" Caleb continued.

"Caleb, are you an idiot? I've made it so obvious, but you still ask. Asking ruins the moment."

"I want you to say it." Caleb replied.

"How can you be so unromantic?"

"I don't want romance, I just want you." Caleb held her tightly. "Susan, I want you to tell me. Look into my eyes and tell me."

Knowing he wouldn't let it go until she said it clearly, Susan looked at him, both annoyed and amused. "Yes, I accept you."

Caleb was ecstatic, feeling his heart, which had stopped earlier, start beating wildly again. This happiness was no less than gaining the whole world.

No, it was regaining the world he had once lost.

For a long four years, they had been apart because of his mistake, and Caleb thought he had lost her forever. Fortunately, Susan forgave him and came back to him.

Caleb had never been more grateful to God than at this moment.
