Chapter 766 It's a Girl
Elara's eyes darkened, "Damn old man, if he remains stubborn, I'll drug him. When he's out of his senses, I'll make him sign."
"Will that hold up in court?"
"Spend a bit more on a top-notch lawyer, and it'll definitely work."
"Yeah, but that's the last resort. We can't use it unless we're desperate."
"I know."
Juniper came out of the hospital room, and the two of them immediately rushed at her like rabid dogs.
"What did you say to him?" Elara demanded angrily.
"Why should I tell you? Who do you think you are?" Juniper crossed her arms, looking amused.
"I deserve a share of the inheritance too!"
"Are you sure?"
Elara panicked a bit, "Did he make a will? Are we not getting any part of the Cooper Group?"
"The Cooper Group was founded by my grandfather. Don't even think about it. I won't let your filthy hands touch a single part of the Cooper Group!"
Juniper continued, "What you should be worried about now is that you won't get a single penny."
"Impossible! At least tens of millions of dollars." But of course, that wasn't enough for Elara; she wanted the Cooper Group's billions!
"Oh? Really?"
Elara's face turned pale. It couldn't be that she wouldn't get anything, right?
She had taken care of Aaron for so many years. If she ended up with nothing... No, she would die without money.
"I'm his wife; the law will definitely give me a share."
"Weren't you the one who forced my dad to make a will? If you're not in the will, what can you get?"
"You bitch—" Elara, enraged, reached out to strangle Juniper, but Juniper dodged.
Elara stumbled and hit her head against the wall.
"Mom!" Saffron rushed to help her, glaring at Juniper with hatred, "You actually hit my mom?"
"Are you blind? Didn't you see she ran into the wall herself? Hit her? I'd be afraid of dirtying my hands." Juniper sneered disdainfully at the two of them.
"Juniper, you bitch, don't be so arrogant. The Cooper Group is mine, and so is the family's money!"
Elara shouted, clutching her forehead, as if yelling would make the money hers. To Juniper, it was laughable.
She looked just like a barking dog! Juniper couldn't help but smirk at the thought.
"You, you dare to laugh?" Elara was furious.
"Isn't your current state laughable? My dad has been taking good care of you, and you really think you're a lady now? Have you forgotten you were just a maid? Your true nature won't change; you can't hide the shrew in you!"
"You're going too far." Enraged, Saffron swung her hand, but Juniper caught it firmly.
Saffron couldn't move her wrist and could only shout, "Help, someone is hitting a pregnant woman."
"Someone is hitting a pregnant woman!"
Passersby were drawn over.
"Stop it, how can you hit a pregnant woman?"
"This is too much!"
"Such a young girl, who knew she could be so vicious."
"Call security."
"My, my stomach hurts so much... Am I having a miscarriage..."
Saffron, best at playing the victim, clutched her stomach and cried, "Juniper, you're so cruel... You won't even spare my child... You're so vicious."
The more people watched, the more pitifully Saffron cried.
Juniper let go of her hand, "Saffron, your acting is really bad. You better pray that the baby in your belly is a boy, or else..." Juniper sneered.
Her sneer made Saffron uneasy.
Juniper walked away amidst the scolding. She didn't care what these clueless onlookers thought.
Saffron had been pretending to be hurt, but maybe because she was too angry, her stomach started to cramp.
"Mom, my, my stomach hurts."
Elara, frightened, quickly called for a doctor.
The doctor said Saffron was just too emotional and it wasn't a big problem.
Elara patted her chest, sighing in relief, "You scared me to death. If anything happened to my precious grandson, I would have killed that bitch."
"Mom, how do you know it's a grandson? What if... it's a girl?" Saffron said worriedly.
"Don't let that bitch scare you. She just can't stand to see you doing well. Didn't I say? The fortune teller said it's definitely a boy."
"Is that fortune teller reliable?" Saffron was getting anxious, "Maybe I should get a check-up."
"No! The fortune teller said if you get a check-up, it might not be a boy."
"The gender is already determined. That fortune teller is talking nonsense. Mom, I've been dreaming of having a daughter these past few days. I'm so scared."
"Douglas' mistress already had a check-up; it's a girl, and Douglas immediately made her get an abortion. And now he's involved with a rich heiress as wealthy as the Cooper family. If she gets pregnant... I, I just..."
"I can't live in fear anymore, Mom. Give me a straight answer. If it's really a girl, we need to act quickly."
Elara struggled for a long time, "Alright, fine."
The test results came back quickly; it was a girl.
The mother and daughter were devastated.
Elara angrily said, "I told you not to check, but you insisted. Now look? The fortune teller said..."
"That fortune teller is a fraud," Saffron cried, breaking down. "I don't blame you, but that fortune teller tricked you, making me think it was a boy."
"If I had checked earlier, I would have aborted a month ago. Now... Mom... Do I really have to abort? I'm so scared of the pain. I don't want to..."
"You have to abort! It's your fault for not having a boy," Elara said angrily. "If Douglas finds out you're having a girl, he'll kick you out without a second thought."
"What should I do?"
"How should I know?" Elara was also at her wit's end.
"Now that Juniper is back, Dad might listen to her and kick us out. If Douglas doesn't want me anymore, we'll be homeless. I don't want that, Mom. Think of something."
"Stop crying! You're driving me crazy." Elara scolded her, "This child definitely can't stay."
Saffron sobbed, reluctant but realistic. If Douglas really didn't want her, no one would marry a pregnant woman.
If she aborted, she might still find a rich man, even if he was older.
"Okay, I understand."
"If the child can't stay, let it serve one last purpose. Don't let your pregnancy go to waste."
"You mean..." Saffron looked at her through teary eyes.
Elara whispered a few words in her ear, and Saffron's eyes hardened, "Looks like that's the only way!"
Saffron touched her belly, thinking, 'Baby, don't blame Mom for being heartless. Blame yourself for not being a boy!'
