Chapter 741 Wants to See Her
After work, Juniper went to a nearby restaurant alone for dinner.
Eating pasta with a fork while replying to emails on her phone had become a routine.
"Why haven't you replied to my messages?" A bald, green-eyed man sat down across from her, asking anxiously.
Juniper looked around, "Sir, you must have mistaken me for someone else?"
"No, Juniper, I've sent you many messages. Why haven't you replied?"
Juniper's head buzzed. Was he that creepy pursuer?
Many men had sent her messages confessing their love, but she usually didn't respond, and that was the end of it.
Only one had persistently sent her messages for two months, several times a day.
Even after she blocked him, he continued to send messages and sometimes called angrily, demanding to know why she had blocked him.
"Juniper, I like you. It was love at first sight. No, I've deeply fallen in love with you. Will you be my girlfriend?"
He urgently grabbed her hand.
Juniper quickly pulled her hand back, "Sorry, I already have a boyfriend."
"No, you're lying to me. I follow you after work every day, and you're always alone."
A stalker.
Juniper felt a chill and secretly took out her phone.
"Are you going to call the police? I love you so much, and you're going to call the police on me? You bad woman."
"Let go!"
Juniper's phone fell to the ground.
"Let go of me! Security, security!" Juniper shouted.
But the security guard wasn't there, and others ran away in fear when he pulled out a knife.
"If I can't have you, I'll kill you!" The man stabbed at her.
Juniper screamed and closed her eyes.
But the knife didn't land on her face. She opened her eyes to see Anthony had taken the knife away.
"Anthony—"
The man fought with him in a rage. Juniper worried he might get hurt, but fortunately, Anthony was skilled and subdued the man. The arriving police pinned him down.
"Are you okay?" Juniper asked worriedly.
"I'm fine."
Seeing he wasn't hurt, Juniper breathed a sigh of relief.
Anthony told the police the man was a stalker, then accompanied Juniper to the police station to make a statement.
It was already ten o'clock by the time they left the police station.
"Thank you for today. If you hadn't shown up in time, I would be dead," Juniper said gratefully.
"No problem." He hadn't expected such a coincidence either.
But he was very glad.
"Let me take you home."
"Okay." Juniper didn't refuse.
In the car, she intentionally glanced at his ring.
This was the most effective way to restrain herself.
Neither of them mentioned the past, as if they had just met.
"We're here."
"Thank you, Mr. Eilish."
Her attitude was always polite, and even if Anthony wanted to say something, he couldn't get a word out.
"By the way, Mr. Eilish, does our company have a good chance in this project competition?" Juniper asked.
"Everyone has a chance. We'll see the final result," Anthony answered appropriately.
"Well, I hope we can work together. Good night, Mr. Eilish."
"Good night."
Juniper got out of the car, feeling unusually calm.
To be honest, it was the calmest day she had had in a while.
Once a person gives up completely, they stop overthinking.
Watching her walk into the building without looking back, her expression and steps so light, Anthony suddenly felt a bit jealous of her carefree attitude.
'Are men and women the same? In just three months, has she completely moved on?'
When he saw her look flustered at the elevator, he thought she still cared about him. But... it seemed like wishful thinking.
Anthony smiled bitterly.
But his heart couldn't calm down.
Juniper had a good night's sleep. It was the first time she hadn't woken up repeatedly in the middle of the night or dreamed of Anthony. She felt especially refreshed and clear-headed.
The next day at work, Jack asked her, "You look great today. Any good news?"
"No, just in a good mood."
"That's good. When a woman is in a good mood, she looks more beautiful. I have a meeting this afternoon. Can you deliver this document to KD Company and hand it to Mr. Eilish personally?"
"Sure." Juniper was no longer afraid to see him.
She had a simple lunch and went to KD Company.
The company wasn't far, just a ten-minute drive, in the tallest building in the city center.
She always knew Anthony was a very capable man, strong even on his own.
When the secretary invited her in, Anthony was still on the phone and gestured for her to sit.
Juniper sat down and waited quietly.
His foreign language was fluent and pleasant to hear.
People born into wealthy families usually start learning multiple languages from a young age. Her foreign language skills were also excellent.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
"No problem." She had only waited for five minutes and handed over the document.
Anthony looked at it for fifteen minutes. "No issues. Your company's proposal is the sharpest among the competitors. I personally think it's very promising."
Juniper felt confident. "If we have the opportunity to work together, we will give it our all."
Anthony glanced at his watch. "Join me for lunch?"
"No need, I've already eaten. If the document is fine, I'll head back."
"I still need to review it further. Do you mind joining me for some takeout?"
Hadn't he already finished reviewing the proposal? Juniper found it odd but nodded. "Okay."
The project was important. She would wait even if it took two days without food or drink.
Anthony ordered a simple meal and reviewed the document while eating.
"Mr. Eilish, you can finish your lunch first. I'm not in a hurry."
But in reality, Anthony had already reviewed all the details earlier. He was just pretending to look at it now, wanting to keep her around.
She wore a summer business outfit, a white blouse, and a black pencil skirt, a very professional look with a ponytail, looking exceptionally attractive, exuding a mature woman's charm.
At home, she never wore makeup, often in a large T-shirt, with her hair tied up, sometimes wearing big black-framed glasses, casual and free.
One was a girl, the other a woman, completely different styles, each with their own appeal.
It seemed he could never get enough of looking at her.
After meeting her again, his feelings for her seemed even stronger. Just sitting face to face made him nervous, his throat tight, wanting to say something but unable to.
In contrast, her eyes were exceptionally clear, without any of the previous entanglement. Did this mean she no longer liked him?
Anthony felt a pang of sadness.
He realized he couldn't accept it.
But the contradiction was, he didn't want anything to happen between them.
After all, when he got engaged, he had sworn to God to always be faithful to Hera.
He couldn't understand his own heart, but he knew this was very bad.
"Mr. Eilish?" Juniper saw him dazing off and called softly.
"Yes." Anthony snapped back to reality.
After he finished eating and reviewed the document for another hour, Juniper said, "I have a meeting at four. If there's nothing else, I'll head back to the company."
"Alright." Anthony suppressed his reluctance.
"Goodbye, Mr. Eilish. I look forward to working with KD Company." Juniper said calmly, then got up and left.
Her faint fragrance left with her, seemingly taking Anthony's air with it.
He suddenly felt suffocated.
He wanted to see her again. Anthony suddenly stood up.
