Chapter 726 Malicious Gossip

In the Eilish Group.

As soon as Juniper entered the office, she saw a few female employees who loved gossiping gathered together, discussing something with sneers and sarcasm.

No need to guess. Juniper was definitely the center of their gossip.

The way they glanced at her when she walked in, along with those strange smiles, made it all too clear.

Juniper thought, 'Will they die if they don't badmouth someone for a day? Even when Anthony personally intervened last time, it doesn't teach them a lesson.'

But whatever, she was about to resign soon anyway, leaving this place of trouble behind.

However, rumors couldn't be stopped and reached her ears again. They were deliberately whispering just loud enough for her to hear.

"Just came back from a business trip and took a day off. Her health must be really poor. It's either a fever or some other issue. She's taken more days off than I have in all my years at the company."

"She's got a princess's life, not something we can compare to."

"What princess? A princess from a nightclub?"

"Someone's taking care of her, so she doesn't need to work hard. She just comes to the office to put on a show, to appear different and more high-class than Mr. Woods' other women."

"She's always putting on airs, unlike Mira, who works diligently and does everything perfectly."

"But real talent and hard work don't matter. They can't compare to a pretty face and good acting skills. Terry even thinks she's hardworking. What a great actress."

"Needing a day off after a business trip, so delicate."

"We can't compare without a backer."

Juniper used to ignore them, and she still thought it was unnecessary to engage now, especially since she wouldn't see them again soon.

But if everyone were that rational, the world would be a better place. Since she was leaving anyway, she decided to snap back.

"Yeah, without a backer, all you can do is gossip about others. How uncomfortable must it be to not attack others? With so much malice in your hearts and filth in your mouths, you'd die if you didn't let it out, right?"

They immediately got angry, glaring at her fiercely. "Who are you talking about?"

"Did we mention your name?"

"Exactly! Your words are too harsh."

Each of them looked indignant, their hair almost standing on end with anger.

Juniper found such people the most ridiculous. They didn't think their own harsh words were a problem, but others had to endure them.

When someone retaliated with a harsh word, they couldn't take it and thought the other person was too much, being sharp-tongued.

They were truly lenient with themselves but strict with others.

Juniper gave a cold smile. "Did I mention any names?"

"You're clearly talking about us. How could we not know?"

Juniper retorted, "If you weren't talking about me, why would you feel guilty and think I was talking about you?"

"You..."

Juniper continued, "If you're going to badmouth others, at least have the courage to admit it. Why be so secretive when you've already said it to my face?"

A tall woman gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, we were talking about you. But what's wrong with that? We're just stating a fact. Didn't you take a day off after coming back from a business trip?"

Juniper said, "I'm very curious. What does my taking a day off after a business trip have to do with you? Don't you have your own work to do instead of constantly commenting on others? Are you that obsessed with me?"

"What's there to be proud of? So what if you have a pretty face? Your heart tells a different story."

"Right!"

"You're manipulative."

Juniper mocked, "My manipulation hasn't affected you. If you like being moral guardians so much, arbitration might suit you better."

She paused, then continued, "Oh no, Mr. Eilish was right that customer service might be more suitable for you. Should I suggest to Mr. Eilish to transfer you to customer service? After all, that's what he intended."

"You think you own the company and that you can just transfer us?"

"Mr. Eilish won't listen to you."

"If he won't, why are you so nervous?" Juniper clearly saw their faces turn pale, their bodies trembling.

These people were only tough with their words, but had no real courage.

If they could always be this tough, Juniper might respect them.

But being tough with words while constantly badmouthing others, yet being so cowardly when threatened, she despised such people from the bottom of her heart.

"Who's nervous? We've been with the Eilish Group for years. How could we be afraid of a newcomer like you? What a joke! You're too arrogant."

Juniper said, "Not afraid? Didn't you just say Mr. Eilish protects me? Mr. Eilish has already made his stance clear last time. I just didn't bother with you. But some people never learn, and they don't deserve any leniency."

"You..."

"Mira." The others quickly approached Mira like they had found a savior.

Mira winced in pain.

The others didn't notice, but Juniper did. It seemed Mira's forearm was injured.

"Mira, thank goodness you're here. She's gone too far, saying she'll have us all transferred to customer service."

"Ridiculous. Does she own the company now and think she can do whatever she wants?"

"Mira, you have to stand up for us."

Mira had been suffering for the past three days, being tormented by Bennie day and night, constantly abused and beaten.

She was now covered in bruises, barely able to take care of herself, and hated Bennie deeply. She had no energy to deal with Juniper.

But she also hated Juniper to the core. She thought that if it weren't for Juniper, she wouldn't have been caught by Bennie and would have reported him to the police long ago, avoiding this abuse.

So every injury on her body was Juniper's fault!

Mira wanted to fight her, to push her off a tall building.

Maybe because she hadn't slept last night, her eyes were bloodshot, more hateful and cold than ever before.

Juniper felt a chill in her heart, thinking, 'This version of Mira is terrifying. That look... do I kill her family or something?'

"Mira, why aren't you saying anything?"

"You're the only one who can deal with her now. Don't let us down."

"Yeah."

Mira had no energy left. She glanced coldly at Juniper and said, "Why bother with someone who's about to be fired?"

"That's not the point. Mr. Eilish is clearly protecting her. Who knows if she'll be fired. We might be the ones demoted to customer service first."

"Yeah."

"Everyone, get back to work."

"Mira..."

Someone muttered in dissatisfaction, "What's going on? Is Mira afraid of her too? Is it that serious?"

"Just like that? Wasn't she all set to fight Juniper to the end? Backing down so quickly, she wasn't that capable after all."

"There's nothing we can do. Someone now has both Mr. Woods and Mr. Eilish backing her, very arrogant. Mira may be experienced, but the only one supporting her is Terry who is just a secretary without decision-making power."

"Don't you think Terry is also very nice to Juniper? It was Terry who broke the rules to hire her, bringing this trouble in."

"Why are all the men charmed by her? Is it all about looks now? Men are so shallow."

"You said it."

Juniper ignored those voices, sat at her desk.

Thinking about how soon it would all be over, and that she would leave this place forever, her feelings were complicated.
