Chapter 261 Human Traffickers

Just now, Susan repeatedly told herself that panicking would be useless. She needed to stay calm in order to find her son. But as a mother, how could Susan stay calm in a situation like this? She was crying desperately. Various terrible speculations kept coming to her mind, making her even more afraid. Thinking about the dreadful news about missing children made Susan even sadder.

"It's all my fault, I didn't take good care of him.

"If I had accompanied him to the restroom, this wouldn't have happened..." Susan covered her face and cried. "What should I do if I can't find him?"

Nothing could make a mother more devastated than her child disappearing.

"We will definitely find him, trust me." Caleb couldn't help but feel sorry for her, listening to her crying made him extremely uncomfortable. He repeatedly told himself not to be affected by this woman and not to pay attention to her, but if he could do that, he wouldn't have chased after her from the restroom just now.

"Oliver..." Susan cried in pain, feeling extremely sad. Her trembling body was embraced by Caleb, who patted her back to comfort her.

At that moment, all of Caleb's psychological defenses instantly collapsed.

When she angered him, he wished he could teach this stubborn woman a lesson. But when she cried in his embrace, he couldn't help but feel tenderness.

What was terrifying was that he still cared about her just like a few years ago.

Caleb couldn't help but hold her tighter, hoping to completely envelop her in his embrace. He wanted to shield her from everything and provide her with a sense of safety.

Caleb's phone vibrated at that moment.

Susan immediately pulled away from his embrace, nervously watching him answer the phone.

"Okay, I understand. I'm coming now." Caleb hung up the phone. "Oliver has been found. He is in the hospital."

"Is he injured?" Susan panicked.

"He just took drugs. He feels dizzy now, but there was no harm done. Let's go to the hospital now."

At the door of the ward, several guards stood watch, with a man who had a severely bruised face and a sinister appearance.

He was the trafficker who drugged Oliver.

"Damn it!" Susan cursed and went forward to give him one slap after another. She relentlessly slapped him in the face, not stopping for a second.

The sound of slapping echoed throughout the hallway.

She had such strength that it left the guards amazed.

"That's enough." Caleb grabbed her hand, his heart aching as her palms were swollen from hitting him. It showed how heavy her punches were.

"Find out about the trafficking ring behind him and destroy it." A touch of anger flashed through Caleb's eyes.

"Understood, Mr. President."

"Oliver..."

"Mommy..."

"Oliver..." Susan rushed forward and hugged her son tightly, showering him with kisses. The tough woman who had beaten the trafficker to near death was now a fragile mother, filled with concern for her own son.

Perhaps after becoming a mother, a woman would have several different roles.

But Susan, as a mother, deeply touched Caleb's heart. Even if the child wasn't his, he couldn't deny that she was a good mother.

"Mommy, I'm okay." Oliver also behaved well, comforting Susan in return. His expression was somewhat dejected. "I'm sorry, Mommy. I was just too foolish, which allowed the bad person to take advantage of me and worry you."

Oliver pouted, feeling very ashamed. Clearly, it was his responsibility to take care of his mother, but he ended up causing her to worry instead.

Susan felt even more self-blame. "It's my fault. I didn't take good care of you."

Oliver immediately shook his head. "No, it's not true. You take good care of me. Besides, I'm a boy, so I should be the one taking care of you."

"Silly." Susan chuckled through her tears.

Oliver's curious gaze landed on Caleb, as he kept staring at him. "Mommy, who is this man?" Why did he have a familiar feeling when they first met, as if they had seen each other somewhere before? He also had a strange feeling.

Only then did Susan remember that Caleb was still there. This was the official first meeting between father and son.

She was actually very afraid of Caleb finding out about Oliver's existence and had tried every method to hide it. But when Oliver was in danger, she could only seek help from Caleb.

If it weren't for Caleb's help today, she wouldn't have been able to find Oliver by herself.

Susan was filled with gratitude toward him.

All of this seemed to be telling her that no matter how much she tried to prevent it, the meeting between them would inevitably happen, and what was meant to happen would still happen. There was no escape...

Susan calmly replied, "He is my friend. He saved you."

"Thank you, mister. " Oliver nodded earnestly, still curiously examining Caleb with her big grape-like eyes.

‘He is a polite little guy,’ Caleb thought. He couldn't understand why he wanted to find similarities between the little guy's facial features and his own, but Oliver looked like Susan, with delicate facial features like a little girl, completely devoid of his charisma.

Was it because that stupid senior was feminine?

Caleb felt a bit jealous.

He must be crazy to think that Oliver was his own son.

They didn't look alike at all.

"Are you still feeling dizzy? Is there anywhere else that hurts?" Susan worried about her son.

Oliver shook his head. "I'm not dizzy anymore, Mommy. I'm fine. You don't have to worry. Can I leave the hospital? I don't like the smell here."

Since childhood, Oliver had hated hospitals, Susan knew that, but...

"Can he leave the hospital now?" Caleb asked the doctor.

"As long as he's not dizzy, he can leave. Just make sure he drinks plenty of water and gets enough rest these next few days," the doctor replied.

Oliver immediately lit up with a smile, "Thank you, mister. Mommy, I can leave the hospital. Yay!"

At ten o'clock that night, a Maybach glided through the quiet night, its lights flickering.

While driving, Caleb occasionally glanced at the mother and son in the rearview mirror.

The mother held her son, gripping his soft little hand, and the son obediently rested his head on his mother's lap. They seemed inseparable.

This was the magical power of family and blood ties, indescribable and impossible to sever. He couldn't explain what kind of emotion this was, but when he held his daughter Candy, his gentle expression and the tenderness in his heart were surely identical to Susan's.

There was a kind of feeling that only parents understood.

His children resided in the most tender part of his heart.

This was tenderness, as well as a strong armor.

Caleb used to think that his children would surely be theirs. But he didn't anticipate the unpredictable reality. Four years later, she had a son, and he had a daughter, but they were no longer a couple.

Life really could leave one speechless.

Caleb chuckled, this laughter containing various emotions, all intertwined.

"I'm hungry, Mommy," Oliver muttered.

"I'll cook noodles for you at home."

"I want to eat KFC..."

"I told you that you shouldn't eat too greasy food," Susan whispered in Oliver's ear, gentle like a summer night breeze.

"But I really want to eat it today. Mommy, I was really scared today, and I need comfort," Oliver pleaded, looking pitifully at her like a cute little puppy and Susan couldn't resist, wishing she could bring the best of the world in front of her son.

Just as she hesitated, Caleb had already parked the Maybach in front of KFC.
