Chapter 734 Anthony, Goodbye

The next day.

Juniper put on her work clothes and stood in front of the mirror looking at herself.

It was her last day at her first job.

It was her last day meeting Anthony as his secretary.

There was so much reluctance and nostalgia.

This short month felt like a very long dream, forever etched in her mind and heart.

Arriving at the company, she handed the organized files to Terry.

Terry's large desk was piled with files, and he pinched his brow in frustration.

"Are you managing all this work alone now?"

"Of course not, can you help me?"

"Just hire another secretary," Juniper said.

"You and Mira did such excellent work and handled pressure well. Finding two secretaries as capable as you is not easy."

"How about you stay a bit longer until I hire someone? Double the salary, I'll pay out of my own pocket," Terry tried to persuade her out of personal interest.

Juniper shook her head.

"Look at you, so heartless. I hired you against the rules back then. Now you just leave without caring about my situation. I'm so pitiful, right? With so much work, I might as well quit too," Terry joked.

He was just saying it, but Juniper immediately said nervously, "You can't quit, Mr. Eilish needs you."

"He needs you the most, you know that."

Juniper bit her lip, silent, "He'll get used to it, I'm not that important."

'If you're not important, then no one is,' Terry thought.

He had said what needed to be said, tried to persuade both sides, but at this point, it was beyond his control.

"Terry, I'll get to work."

As soon as Juniper left the office, she bumped into Anthony. He looked very haggard, extremely tired, with dark circles under his eyes.

'Didn't he rest last night?' She almost asked.

But after saying such heartless words yesterday, how could she have the face to care about him?

She could only pretend to be indifferent, nodding calmly yet respectfully, "Mr. Eilish."

Anthony looked at her, feeling hurt. He drank until midnight last night, knowing he kept calling her name.

In the afternoon, near the end of the workday, Juniper went in to deliver files, "Mr. Eilish, I've handed all my work to Terry. He said he's currently hiring a new secretary, should be in place within a week."

"Today is my last day. I apologize for any inconvenience and trouble I caused you. I'm also very grateful for the job opportunity you gave me, but I was incompetent and let you down."

The more Anthony listened, the more uncomfortable he felt, "What's the point of saying these formalities?"

If she really didn't want to let him down, she shouldn't have resigned.

Hearing such words made him feel worse, did she know that?

"Sorry. Actually, it's a good thing. I sometimes get distracted at work, make bad coffee, lack experience, have poor interpersonal skills, and often get attacked, which affects your reputation. With me gone, things will be peaceful."

Juniper forced herself to smile carelessly. But the forced happiness was so strained. It was awkward for her and uncomfortable to watch.

"If you want to leave, no one is stopping you."

He had gone to her house last night to beg her to stay, but she kept saying "my boyfriend," tearing his heart to pieces.

"Yes. After I leave, please take good care of yourself, eat on time, don't work too late, always have breakfast, and get up and move around after sitting for a long time."

"Sorry for bringing unpleasant memories. I hope your life gets better after I leave. No, it will definitely get better."

She was like a dark cloud, and once she drifted away from his world, his world would be sunny again. That was good.

In the future in Libertonia, she wouldn't inquire about his news, but maybe she would see his reports in financial news.

See how successful he was, see him get engaged, married, and have children.

And she had already prepared herself for a lonely old age.

But having once fallen in love with a man who shone like a light, it would be difficult to let anyone else into her heart in the future.

Then again, who knows? The future's destiny belongs to the future, to her and others.

As for them, their fate had already run its course.

She returned to her desk, feeling unusually calm on her last day, focusing on work.

In the last bit of time, she wanted to do everything well, do as much as she could. For herself, for the company, and for Anthony and Terry.

But there were always some annoying "flies" to disturb her.

"Is today your last day? Are you sure? So we won't see you tomorrow?"

"This is a big company, resigning isn't a joke. You can't say you're resigning today and change your mind tomorrow."

"Yeah, the company has its rules, it's not just talk."

"If you want to come back, there might not be a place for you."

"Have you thought it through?"

These words sounded like they were concerned about her leaving, but Juniper knew they were testing her, afraid she would change her mind and stay.

These people, they couldn't let her have peace even on the last day.

Juniper smiled, "Just do your own work. My leaving is my personal matter, not for you to interfere with, and it has nothing to do with you, so don't worry about it."

A few of them pouted.

Juniper always had to be sarcastic.

But not seeing her tomorrow was the happiest thing.

They had already planned to have a big dinner and sing to celebrate the departure of the most annoying person.

They said politely, "Everyone is just concerned about you."

"You work so hard and don't earn much, it's better to serve Mr. Eilish well, then you can buy whatever you want."

"Yeah, we're destined to work hard, can't stop working, no one to support us. You have someone to support you, drink afternoon tea and do beauty treatments, so comfortable, we're envious."

Saying they were envious was true, which turned into jealousy, making them dislike her.

"When you become a rich lady, don't forget us sisters."

They laughed sarcastically, hoping she would be dumped. A rich lady? Her? Dream on.

They were waiting to see her get kicked out by Ronnie.

Originally, she could leave at six, but when the time came, Juniper found herself reluctant to go.

She kept telling herself, finish this file and then leave, finish this one... one after another, unknowingly it was eight o'clock.

She couldn't find any more excuses, it was time to leave.

Juniper shut down the computer, gently touched the desk, and softly murmured, "Goodbye."

She looked at the office with the blinds down, and whispered, "Goodbye, Anthony."

But as soon as she stood up, Anthony came out of the office. Their eyes met.
