Chapter 786 Repeating the Old Trick

Brice said helplessly, "It's not that I don't want to avoid comparisons, but people can't help comparing with their partner's ex, especially when the ex was outstanding."

"Love isn't about comparisons. I think you're more suitable for me than he was," Juniper said sincerely.

Brice's eyes lit up, "Really?"

"Yes, I like being with you, and my dad likes you too."

"So, does that mean my chances of marrying you are pretty high?" Brice said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder with delight.

"I've told you before, it's not that easy. You still have to go through some tests."

"No problem, I love challenges. The more setbacks, the more courageous I become."

At that moment, Juniper's phone buzzed. She glanced at it unintentionally and instantly turned pale.

Anthony...

He actually called off the wedding in public.

This was so unlike him.

Juniper was completely stunned and started trembling.

"What's wrong?"

"I, I need to go to the bathroom." She needed to see what had happened and calm down.

"Isn't there a bathroom in your room..."

Juniper had already run out of the room.

Brice was puzzled; her expression was very strange.

His fingers brushed over her books. She had many books; his girlfriend was an excellent woman.

Brice smiled, feeling very lucky and proud to be with her.

"Brice."

Saffron knocked on the door, standing at the entrance with a plate of sliced apples.

Brice had heard about the bad deeds of this mother-daughter duo, so he didn't have a good impression of them. He nodded politely, "Hello."

"Brice, can I call you that? Have some apples; they're very sweet."

"Juniper really doesn't know how to take care of people," Saffron said, pretending to be casual.

But Brice heard it clearly.

She was badmouthing his sweetheart again.

"I don't think so. Juniper is gentle and considerate, just like an angel."

Saffron thought to herself, 'She's clearly a bitch! Men are so shallow, calling any pretty woman an angel.'

Saffron forced a smile, "Try it, it's very sweet."

She forked a piece of apple and brought it to Brice's mouth, but he avoided it. "I don't eat apples."

He frowned with some disgust. She actually did such a thing.

"Sorry, Brice, I just wanted to make it convenient for you. We're all family, it's no big deal," Saffron quickly explained, afraid he would dislike her.

Damn, her first move to get close to Douglas was feeding him peaches, and Douglas even flirted with her. Why was this guy's reaction completely different?

Could he really be a gentleman?

'No, all men are scumbags, not a single good one. He must think I am ugly and fat now.' Saffron thought with some inferiority.

"Brice, you seem to dislike me. Did Juniper say something bad about me? She never liked me..." Saffron's eyes welled up with tears.

"I'm not like Juniper, with so many men liking her, always surrounded by suitors, changing boyfriends one after another, often without a break. I rarely interact with men; I don't know how to get along with them. I'm just pure and naive."

Brice was already rolling his eyes internally. It seemed Juniper had been holding back when describing Saffron.

She was a scheming woman, subtly mocking Juniper for having many men. How malicious.

"Brice, I didn't mean to say anything bad about Juniper. Don't misunderstand. I just meant she's very popular."

Brice replied, "Juniper is beautiful and kind, naturally popular."

'Juniper is beautiful and kind, implying I am ugly and malicious?' Saffron gritted her teeth secretly. 'Damn it!'

Grinding her teeth meaningfully, she said, "Yes, Juniper has been popular since she was a child. Everyone likes pretty women."

Brice nodded. "She is very pretty, not just on the outside, but even more so on the inside. I love her very much."

Saffron felt a stab in her heart. He was implying she shouldn't have any delusions. 'This damn man, what's he so arrogant about!'

"Juniper will be back soon. You should leave."

"Brice..." Saffron, feeling more desperate as she was rejected, tried to get closer to Brice, but he immediately dodged, leaving her embarrassed and blushing.

"Brice, I just got out of the hospital. My body is still weak, and I often feel dizzy."

Brice didn't respond. That was practically throwing herself at him!

Every time she explained, it was when he felt the most repulsed. He hated hypocritical and scheming people.

She was like the evil stepsister in fairy tales.

His Juniper was the kind princess.

Brice vowed in his heart to protect her even more.

"Brice, please don't hate me, okay? It makes me sad. I'm really very fragile..." Saffron said, about to cry, looking pitiful.

Tears were the most effective weapon against men. But clearly not against Brice.

His tone became even colder, "I don't think we need to be alone together. Please leave."

If it weren't for the fact that they were half-sisters, he would have been much harsher. He was already being very restrained.

He was kicking her out.

"Brice..."

In the bathroom.

Juniper anxiously scrolled through the news.

Anthony, he really called off the wedding, and at the wedding itself.

Was it because of her?

Juniper couldn't help but think it was her fault, feeling a heavy sense of guilt.

A sense of destroying someone else's marriage weighed on her, making it hard to breathe, her scalp tingling.

'Don't think about it, don't dwell on it. It was Anthony's decision. Maybe he just didn't love Hera. It has nothing to do with me.'

But he said he loved her.

He would definitely come looking for her again. What should she do? Juniper worried.

No, she had already decided to start fresh with Brice. She couldn't be swayed by Anthony.

Whatever happened to Anthony was his business. She wanted to be with Brice. Anthony was the past, and Brice was her future.

Juniper kept repeating to herself, convincing herself, calming herself down.

She took a deep breath. 'Stop thinking about things that have nothing to do with you.'

She put away her phone and walked out of the bathroom.

Halfway down the hallway, she saw Saffron coming out of her room, looking embarrassed and like a rat in the street.

Juniper blocked her way, "What? Tried to seduce Brice the way you seduced Douglas, but failed and got humiliated?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? Dad asked me to bring up some fruit," Saffron said angrily.

"I know exactly what tricks you're up to. If you think Brice is like Douglas, you deserve to be humiliated. Douglas was seduced by you because he was a scumbag, a perfect match for you, birds of a feather."

Saffron gritted her teeth and said hatefully, "You're the slut! Changing boyfriends one after another, you're just a loose woman."

"I'm properly dating boyfriends, while you steal other people's boyfriends. Who's the slut? Now you want to use the same old tricks, but too bad. You're just humiliating yourself!"
