Chapter 888 Why Do You Care So Much?

After work, Juniper still invited Kieran to a fancy restaurant for dinner.

Even if Kieran hadn't joked about it, she would have invited him anyway.

She had learned a lot from him. Her rapid growth was inseparable from Kieran's unreserved help.

"Weren't we supposed to have barbecue? This place is pretty fancy for a barbecue joint," Kieran teased.

Juniper rolled her eyes with amusement, "You really know how to joke. I never realized you were such a joker."

"How am I not serious? This is called humor, don't you get it?"

"The girls at the office all say you're a cool and aloof heartthrob, that you're very serious and distant at work. They should see you now."

"Please, don't ruin my cool image in front of the ladies. After all, I'm the general manager; I can't joke around too much."

Juniper laughed, "Then why do you joke with me all the time? And you're very mischievous."

"Aren't you the future president? I'm just trying to win you over."

Kieran gallantly pulled out a chair for her, "Ms. Cooper, please have a seat!"

Juniper smiled helplessly.

Kieran flipped through the menu, "Oh my, a steak costs one hundred dollars here. That's pretty expensive."

"Stop pretending. With your lifestyle and social engagements, you spend way more than this."

"I'm just worried about your money."

"We're already here, just order whatever you want."

"Alright then." Kieran turned to the last page, "Let's see, the most expensive bottle of red wine is fifty thousand dollars. Okay, let's go with that."

Juniper choked on her water, "Are you a robber?"

"Didn't you say to order whatever I want? Since the future boss is so generous, I would feel guilty if I didn't take advantage."

"I think we should just have a nice meal and skip the alcohol. Drinking is bad for your health."

"Red wine is good for beauty."

"I drove here."

"We can get a designated driver."

Does it have to be this way?

"Hahaha, alright, alright, I'm just kidding. I'll have juice."

Outside of work, she was so adorable that Kieran couldn't help but tease her.

Juniper raised her fist, "You're bullying the boss now? Do you not want your job?"

"Please, boss, I'm sorry. I'll pay for this meal to make it up to you!" Kieran had already planned to pay.

He didn't have the habit of letting a woman pay, even if she was a billionaire CEO. Gentlemanly manners couldn't be abandoned.

They chatted and laughed.

"Isn't that Juniper?"

Brynn, who had recovered from her illness, was out for dinner with Eldon and happened to see them.

"Isn't she Anthony's girlfriend? Why is she chatting so happily with another man?"

"Maybe they're just good friends. Our table is over there."

But Brynn let go of his arm and walked over.

"Juniper, you're on a date with another man. Does Anthony know? Are you being fair to him?"

A voice of accusation rang out.

Juniper turned to see Brynn.

"Who is she?" Kieran asked.

"This is Ms. Elise from the Elise Group."

"So it's her. Hello, I'm Kieran, the project manager at the Cooper Group." Kieran stood up and extended his hand politely.

But Brynn glared at Juniper, "Did you badmouth me?"

"What bad things do you think I could say about you?" Juniper asked calmly.

Brynn bit her lip, "I'm so perfect, of course, there's nothing bad to say. I'm just afraid you'll spread rumors."

"I'm not that bored."

"Yeah, you're not bored. You have time to laugh and chat with other men behind Anthony's back."

"Ms. Elise, you've misunderstood. Juniper and I are colleagues, and I'm sort of her mentor. We're just having dinner together."

"Why are colleagues so close, laughing so happily? I don't think it's that simple."

Juniper gave her a sharp look, "Why do you care so much? And in what capacity?"

"I... I'm Anthony's friend, and I can't stand it. If you're not loyal to him, you don't deserve him."

"You think you're more deserving than me?"

"Of course, I'm devoted to Anthony, wholeheartedly." Brynn said firmly.

'So she's a love rival,' Kieran thought, amused.

He withdrew his hand and decided to stay silent. There was no way to explain this clearly.

The war between women is scarier than business battles. Better stay out of it.

"That's called unrequited love."

"Even if it's unrequited, I'm still devoted, unlike you, out with another man. Being Anthony's girlfriend is your luck, but you don't cherish it, and yet..."

"And yet what? I'm just having dinner with a colleague. Is that a problem? You're meddling too much."

"You don't admit your mistake?" Brynn stepped forward angrily, "Aren't you afraid I'll tell Anthony?"

"Afraid... Afraid of what? Listen up." Juniper just wanted to get rid of her quickly. She took out her phone and called Anthony, "Honey, I'm having dinner with Mr. Morgan right now."

She looked at Brynn provocatively with soft eyes.

"Okay, got it. I'll eat more. You keep working, don't overwork yourself. Miss you."

"You..." Brynn's face turned red.

"Did you hear that? Any more questions? If not, please leave and don't disturb my meal."

"Brynn, let's go." Eldon pulled her away.

Brynn stomped her foot and turned to leave.

Eldon gave an apologetic look, mouthing "sorry" to Juniper.

Juniper shook her head to indicate it was okay.

Poor Eldon, always cleaning up Brynn's messes.

But he probably enjoyed it.

Even a blind person could see that he liked Brynn deeply.

Who knows if his silent devotion would ever pay off.

"This Ms. Elise has quite a temper."

"Doesn't she? She's a princess."

"It's impressive that you managed to negotiate this project with such a capricious rival." Kieran admired her greatly.

"It's not that bad. She's a bit spoiled, but not a bad person. But I'll take your compliment. I am that awesome."

"Damn, she's clearly taking advantage of Anthony's trust, and she dared to confront me like that. I've never lost an argument since I was a kid, except with her..." Brynn muttered angrily.

"They're just colleagues."

"Colleagues laughing so happily?"

To Eldon, it seemed normal, just a pleasant conversation. But Brynn was jealous, so she took it more seriously.

"I'm so mad."

"That's their business. Don't let others affect your mood, okay?" Eldon said gently, like soothing a ruffled kitten.

"Anthony is not just anyone. He's the one I like. I was willing to let it go for his sake, but seeing her laughing with another man, maybe I shouldn't give up on Anthony?"
