Chapter 802 They Can Only Break Up

Juniper took a bath, paying special attention to her body. Although her legs were sore, her body wasn't in much pain.

She had some vague impressions from last night in the dark; Anthony was very gentle.

But he didn't know it was her at the time. Would he be just as gentle with other women?

If it were another woman, would he have been moved?

Thinking of this, her heart suddenly ached.

But she felt that such thoughts were inappropriate. Last night, she didn't know who he was either, did she?

But if it didn't feel like him, could she really...

Juniper shook her head, telling herself not to be troubled by these "what ifs" because there are no "what ifs." What happened, happened.

She knew these thoughts were inappropriate, but she indeed felt—it was better to give herself to Anthony than to any other man.

Even Brice.

Thinking of this, Juniper wanted to slap herself. She felt like a very shameless woman.

Next, she had to think about how to handle it. How to handle her relationship with Anthony and with Brice.

It was hard enough to stabilize a relationship, and now... Did God insist on making her journey in love full of twists and turns, subjecting her to endless torment?

"Are you done?" Anthony gently knocked on the door.

She had been in there for an hour. Was he worried she might harm herself?

She wasn't that weak.

"Yes, I'm done." Juniper quickly dried herself, put on a robe, and went out.

Anthony glanced at her eyes; they weren't red.

Juniper noticed this small detail too.

"Let's have breakfast. The clothes have been delivered."

"Thank you." Juniper instinctively avoided looking at the red stain on the sheets.

The atmosphere was indescribably awkward.

She bit into a sandwich; it was dry, like chewing on a piece of bark.

Anthony pushed a glass of milk towards her, and she took a sip.

Neither of them knew what to say. Indeed, what happened was unexpected for both of them.

Their minds were quite chaotic.

But they both knew that what happened couldn't be changed.

"It's the weekend today, no work, right?" Anthony said while cutting his toast.

"Yeah."

"Want me to take you home?"

"Yeah."

"Okay."

Their conversation was even drier than the sandwich.

Breakfast took over half an hour, but they didn't exchange more than twenty sentences.

The car ride was equally silent.

Juniper could only make very faint breathing sounds.

Finally, they arrived.

"Thank you, Mr. Eilish." Juniper quickly got out of the car.

She walked quickly, which made Anthony a bit disappointed. He couldn't help but wonder if last night's accident was a disaster for her.

No need to comfort himself; it definitely was. She already had a boyfriend, the kind she was going to marry, yet she had an inappropriate encounter with him at this time.

If possible, he wouldn't have wanted it to happen this way. He wanted it to be when she was willing, not in such a muddled way.

She was a person with strong morals and a sense of responsibility. She would definitely feel very guilty.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but feel heartache for her, a deep heartache.

'Juniper, if you want, I will take responsibility for you. But you probably wouldn't want that.'

What would happen next, Anthony wasn't sure. He felt very melancholic.

Juniper only charged her phone when she got home.

Her phone kept ringing.

Dozens of messages, dozens of missed calls, all from Brice.

As soon as she turned on her phone, it rang again.

She didn't dare to answer but couldn't avoid it.

"Juniper, how late did you stay out with your friends last night? Why was your phone off? Nothing happened, right?"

She didn't dare tell Brice that she went to a social event with Charles last night, so she said she was out with some girlfriends.

"Nothing, I... I stayed at my girlfriend's place last night. Played some games, and my phone died."

"Then why didn't you charge it? You know I would call you."

"Chatting, didn't notice."

Juniper was so nervous that her scalp was sweating.

He must be suspicious, right? Because she wasn't the type to leave people worried without an explanation.

But Brice still said, "Don't do that again. I was really worried about you."

Next time... there shouldn't be a next time.

Juniper felt very sad.

Brice's tone quickly returned to its usual cheerfulness, "Did you rest well? When are you coming to the hospital to pick me up?"

"I... I'm not going today."

"Why? Didn't we agree you'd come to pick me up?" Brice asked, a bit disappointed.

"I drank last night, and now I have a headache."

"Alright, then I'll come to you."

"No, my girlfriend is still here, it's not convenient."

"Didn't you say you were at her place last night?"

"At first, I was at her place, then... then we came to my place."

"Drunk and still running around?"

She really couldn't lie.

"Juniper, nothing happened, right? You sound strange, very off."

Juniper scratched her head, feeling so guilty she wanted to die, but she could only hold on and say, "No, nothing. Maybe it's just the hangover, my brain hasn't recovered, so I'm a bit slow. It's nothing."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, then rest well today. Let's go out tomorrow."

"You just got out of the hospital, you should rest more. And it's quite hot, I don't want to go out."

"Then I'll come to your place and watch a movie with you?"

"I'm still with my girlfriend tomorrow."

"Am I overthinking? Why do I feel like you don't want to see me?"

It was not that she didn't want to see him, but she didn't dare to, didn't deserve to.

After what happened, she really felt sorry for him.

Breaking up was inevitable. She just hadn't figured out how to say it yet, her mind still in chaos.

The guilt weighed on her, making it hard to breathe.

"Alright, maybe I'm overthinking. Am I too clingy? I miss you like crazy if I don't see you for a day, and I start imagining things. This isn't like me at all."

"You know, I'm obsessed with you. If you don't want me, what would I do? I'd go crazy."

"Juniper, don't leave me, okay? Never leave me. No, let's get married. Only if we get married will I feel secure. Otherwise, I'm always worried you'll leave me."

"Last night, I had a nightmare. I dreamed you... you got back together with Mr. Eilish. No matter how I begged, you wouldn't come back. I even cried in my dream."

"A grown man having such a dream is silly, right? But I really care about you, love you so much, I can't lose you."

"How much longer do you need to consider before you're willing to marry me? I think about this crazily every day..."

Imagining Brice's shy expression, Juniper felt even more bitter.

He was still immersed in beautiful fantasies, happily thinking about marrying her, while she was thinking about how to break up with him.

If last night's incident hadn't happened, Juniper would have been moved to marry him immediately upon hearing his confession.

But now, filled with guilt, she could only painfully choose to break up with him.

'Brice, I'm sorry.'
