Chapter 681 Happily Overstuffed

Juniper was feeling all kinds of cranky and snapped, "Hurry up and get yourself picked up. Whoever wants to do it, go ahead. I'll even thank her."

Then Ronnie grabbed her hand and lifted it, saying, "You lucked out finding me, so don't blow it."

Juniper tried to pull away, but he locked his fingers with hers, holding on tight.

Holding hands in the office, and even interlocking fingers, made Juniper feel super awkward and a bit embarrassed, her face turning a little red.

A playboy was always a playboy, so good at messing with girls. How annoying.

Anthony, who had just stepped out of the elevator, saw the whole thing and his face darkened. They were now openly holding hands, looking all lovey-dovey.

A few steps away, Mira was watching Anthony.

Mira could totally see the look in his eyes and knew that Anthony must have feelings for Juniper.

Mira thought, 'I've been busting my butt working for him, doing everything perfectly, and I get so happy I can't sleep all night just because of a compliment from him. Yet, I've never gotten any special attention from him. But Juniper, she's only been here a few days and already has his heart. Is it just because Juniper is prettier than me?'

Mira felt a pang of bitterness, jealousy bubbling up inside her.

Anthony walked out of the company, and a Bentley pulled up in front of him. The driver got out and opened the door.

Anthony glanced at the back seat and suddenly felt a bit stifled. "I'll walk."

The Bentley slowly followed behind him.

As Anthony walked down the street, all the women couldn't help but check him out. He was such a charming guy, gentle and gentlemanly, but he seemed to have something on his mind, his brows furrowed, looking troubled.

What could be bothering a guy like him? Could it be emotions?

What kind of woman could catch his eye?

Anthony didn't notice that Mira had been following him at a distance of about 10 feet. Mira thought, 'Is he heartbroken over Juniper? Could that woman already have hurt him?'

Mira felt both heartache for Anthony and jealousy towards Juniper, the jealousy eating away at her.

She followed him like she was possessed, unknowingly walking for an hour.

Mira finally couldn't hold back and caught up from the other side, pretending to bump into Anthony at the street corner, almost colliding with him.

Mira said, "Sorry... Mr. Eilish?"

Anthony caught Mira. "Be careful."

"Thank you, Mr. Eilish."

The place where he held her hand was burning hot, and Mira's whole face turned red.

This was the closest they had ever been, and Mira could clearly smell the alluring scent on Anthony, which tugged at her heart. The little devil inside her was stirring.

Mira asked, "Mr. Eilish, why didn't you take the car?"

Anthony replied, "Well, I just felt like walking."

Mira nervously licked her lips. "Mr. Eilish, you..."

Mira's heart was beating so fast that she could barely make a sound.

"Have you had dinner? Would you like to..." Oh my god, her heart was beating so fast that she could hardly breathe.

"Dinner?" Anthony suddenly had a thought and saw a hot dog cart not far away.

"What are you looking at?" Mira saw him looking so intently and turned to follow his gaze, still not understanding.

While she was wondering, Anthony suddenly asked, "Do you want a hot dog?"

"What? A hot dog?" Mira thought she had misheard. The unattainable Anthony actually wanted a hot dog?

Mira's face was slow to catch up. "You gotta be kidding. That stuff's grilled and could give you cancer, plus street food is nasty."

Anthony suddenly felt a bit let down.

Anthony thought, 'Different strokes for different folks. She's not Juniper, so she won't dig hot dogs. No biggie. I just shouldn't expect her to.'

"Never mind." Anthony felt a wave of disappointment and turned to get into the car.

Mira regretted her low emotional intelligence just now and hurriedly said, "Mr. Eilish, if you want a hot dog, I can eat it with you. I'll go buy it now."

"No need." The same thing, with a different person, had a completely different meaning. Anthony turned and got into the car.

Mira frowned and thought, 'Why on earth would he want a hot dog? Could someone have eaten it with him? Could it be Juniper who ate hot dogs with Anthony?'

Mira felt certain it was.

Juniper could actually influence Anthony like this, while she hadn't been able to catch his eye in years.

The more Mira thought about it, the more unbalanced she felt, and her resentment towards Juniper grew.

"I'm exhausted. So heavy." Juniper was carrying things in one hand and opening the door with the other, panting.

"Who told you to buy so much?" Ronnie was also carrying a lot, even an octopus wouldn't have enough arms.

"I just moved in, and I don't have many things. I need to cook for myself to save money." Juniper put the things down and wiped her sweat.

Ronnie complained, "But you shouldn't be carrying them. I told you I'd make a few more trips."

Juniper said, "Come on, I'm afraid you'll get exhausted."

Ronnie retorted, "I'll get exhausted? What a joke! I work out, okay? Not just one or two trips, even a hundred trips wouldn't be a problem."

"Stop bragging."

Ronnie said, "You don't believe me? Come on, let's do a hundred trips right now. See how good my endurance is."

"Get lost." Juniper shoved a box of tissues in his face. "Wipe your sweat."

Ronnie grinned, "You really care about me."

Juniper said, "Sit down. I'll cook some pasta."

"You're so nice today, cooking for me yourself. What a surprise." Ronnie looked delighted and flattered.

Juniper replied, "Ordering takeout is expensive, and I can't afford it."

Actually, she knew well how to repay kindness. When others were good to her, she would reciprocate. Ronnie was annoying, but she was living in his place, and he paid for all these things. He had helped her so much, so cooking some pasta for him was nothing.

"When would I ever let a woman pay? You can actually cook. The women I know don't do any chores." Ronnie felt like he had found a treasure.

Although there were servants at home, so she didn't need to cook herself, the fact that she could cook still surprised him.

"Can the women you know compare to me?" Juniper raised her chin and put on the apron she just bought. "Hurry up and bring the groceries into the kitchen."

"Okay." Ronnie said in a high-pitched voice.

Juniper laughed.

Ten minutes later, two bowls of fragrant pasta were on the table.

Juniper said, "Time was tight today, so I could only cook pasta. Make do with it. You're used to gourmet food. So if you can't eat this simple meal, just order takeout yourself."

Ronnie retorted, "You cooked it yourself. How could it be simple? This is a delicacy."

"Nonsense." Juniper teased. Ronnie could definitely sweet-talk women into a daze, but it didn't work on her.
