Chapter 806 She's Pregnant
Time had unknowingly passed by another half month.
Anthony hadn't shown up, and Brice hadn't appeared again either.
Life had completely returned to peace, which was good, but Juniper always felt like something was missing, and sometimes there was a faint pain in her heart.
She knew it was all because of that name.
During lunch break, a few female colleagues gathered excitedly.
"You're pregnant? That's great. You and your husband have been trying for half a year, and finally, there's good news."
"Congratulations, congratulations!"
"Thank you." The pregnant woman was around thirty years old. She had always worried about not being able to conceive, and now she was very happy to have finally succeeded.
"How did you know you were pregnant?"
"My period didn't come this month, so I checked, and it turned out I was really pregnant."
"Haha, that's great. Periods don't lie."
The file in Juniper's hand fell to the ground, and her previously calm mood suddenly became unsettled.
She suddenly remembered that her period was supposed to come last week, but it hadn't.
She tried to convince herself that it was due to work stress and being too busy, but even when she was extremely busy before, her period had always been very punctual, down to the day.
This time...
Could it be...
Although she had taken the pill, she wasn't sure if it had been within 72 hours, and her mind was in chaos.
She made mistakes at work.
"The data discrepancy is too large. You've been working here for so long, and this is the first time you've made such a mistake. Luckily, I checked it, or the consequences would have been unimaginable," Jack said, shaking his head.
Juniper was also relieved.
"Is something bothering you?" Jack asked.
"No, nothing."
"We've known each other for so long and work together every day. I can tell when you're lying. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't force you, but if you need help, you can always come to me."
"Thank you."
Juniper was a mess all day, unable to concentrate on anything, constantly wavering between being pregnant and not being pregnant, almost driving herself crazy.
She couldn't go on like this; she needed to know for sure!
After work, she went straight to the pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test. The anxious night finally passed, and she immediately used her morning urine to test.
The five-minute wait was agonizing.
"Please don't be pregnant, please don't be pregnant..." Juniper kept muttering, and then she looked at the test.
It was over, two lines!
She was pregnant!
So, it had indeed been more than 72 hours.
She paced back and forth at home for almost an hour before forcing herself to calm down and face the result, then analyze what to do next.
Tell Anthony?
They were both single now, so there was no moral dilemma, which slightly eased her pressure.
However—
Getting back together with Anthony? That seemed impossible.
They had been entangled for so long, and it had come to this. It proved they were not suitable for each other, and continuing together would not lead to any good results.
She was already very tired and didn't want her future child to be dragged down.
So, should she hide it from Anthony and raise the child alone?
This would mean leaving Harmony City and moving to another city, giving up the foundation she had worked so hard to build.
And as a single mother, her dad would definitely be devastated. When the child asked about their father in the future, she wouldn't know how to answer.
It seemed that no matter what she chose, it would be wrong, and nothing could be perfect.
But in this chaos, one thing was clear: she wanted this child!
Because it was her child.
Because it was her and Anthony's child.
Juniper sat numbly in the restaurant, her mind filled with thoughts of pregnancy.
Based on the timing, she might have only been pregnant for a few days, and her stomach felt completely normal.
She touched her flat abdomen, finding it hard to believe that there was really a baby inside.
Pregnancy had always seemed so distant to her.
Even if she got married, she would have spent two or three years enjoying life as a couple before considering having children.
She had never had strong feelings about children, neither liking nor disliking them, always thinking that motherhood was far off.
Her personality wasn't stable enough, and she didn't feel suited to be a mother.
Suddenly being pregnant caught her off guard.
Thinking about this gave Juniper a headache.
Her phone kept vibrating, bringing her back to reality. It was a client calling.
"I'm already at the restaurant. Are you almost here?"
"Sorry, Juniper, I have a last-minute meeting and can't make it."
"No problem, let's reschedule." Juniper wasn't in the mood for work anyway.
Just as she hung up, she suddenly saw Anthony sitting a few tables away with his assistant Joey.
Juniper's heart skipped a beat, and she bit her lip.
Should she tell him she was pregnant?
Juniper was conflicted, but her body reacted before her mind.
When she came to her senses, she was already standing in front of Anthony.
"What do you want?" Joey looked up, eyeing her warily as if she were carrying a virus.
But in his eyes, she was indeed toxic.
"Mr. Eilish, long time no see."
Anthony had been waiting for her to contact him, but after seeing Brice propose to her that day, he told himself not to wait any longer.
If she could continue being with Brice after what had happened, it meant she really didn't care about him, and he shouldn't keep thinking about her. It would only add to his troubles and possibly cause her more problems.
Anthony's expression was calm, as if he were seeing an ordinary person, and he nodded slightly.
This reaction disappointed Juniper. She was carrying his child, and this was his attitude?
He had said he needed time to think, and this was his conclusion? Pretending nothing had happened?
Some things were like this: she could do it, but he couldn't. It made her very angry, especially since she was now pregnant.
"Do you have something to say? If not, don't disturb Mr. Eilish and me while we're eating," Joey said.
"I just got stood up. Can I join you? Eating alone is quite boring." The colder his attitude, the more Juniper wanted to stay.
"Aren't there a few single men around? Why don't you join them?" Joey sneered.
She had just broken up with Brice and now wanted to mess around with Anthony? Couldn't she be without a man for a moment? Too casual.
He had to protect the boss and not let him be seduced.
"We can talk about work."
"You've already been transferred back to MG Company, and your work has been handed over to others. What work is there to talk about? It's just an excuse," Joey said directly.
"I have something to discuss. I'm not eating with you; I'm asking Mr. Eilish."
"I'm conveying Mr. Eilish's thoughts," Joey argued.
He had never seen such a shameless woman, and she didn't take him seriously, which made him feel very disrespected.
"You've been talking the whole time; Mr. Eilish hasn't said a word. How can you be sure this is what Mr. Eilish wants?"
Juniper retorted, ignoring Joey and directly asking, "Mr. Eilish, can I sit down and have this dinner with you?"
