Chapter 758 Just the Beginning of the Disaster
Juniper shook her head.
"You give me the impression that you've been hurt in past relationships, so you're afraid of getting hurt again and don't dare to fall in love. Is that right?"
Juniper was silent for a moment. "It's not that serious."
"But at least your past relationships have had an impact on you, right?"
"A little bit."
"Maybe you think I'm being irresponsible, but I still want to say that this kind of thinking is pretty foolish. Because you've been hurt before, you don't want to fall in love again. You'll lose more that way, maybe even a lifetime of happiness, your true soulmate."
He continued, "I'm not saying that soulmate has to be me; it could be someone else. But if you miss out, I'll feel really sorry for you, Juniper, because you're a good girl. You deserve to be treated well, loved by a good man, cherished and cared for. You really do. I don't want you to miss out. Of course, I hope that person is me. That would be the best and luckiest thing in my life."
Brice said tenderly but firmly.
"Please don't think that just because I fell for you at first sight, I'm some kind of playboy who treats relationships casually. I'm not. Before you, I hadn't been in a relationship for five years. You know, a lot of women have pursued me, but I don't want to date casually and then break up. I'd rather be alone."
"But for the girl I like, I will pursue her passionately, so she knows my feelings. Because I don't want to miss out or have any regrets."
"I admit that at first, it was your beauty and unique temperament that attracted me, but after getting to know you, I found that I like you in every way. You're strong, independent, kind but not weak. You have a lot of personality, and I like everything about you."
"I hope to date you, and ideally, we could get married in the future. But no one can predict the future. I can only say that I will try my best to make you happy."
The last person to propose to Juniper was Ronnie. He promised to date with marriage in mind, but Juniper never believed him.
But she was willing to believe Brice's confession. He was a sincere and reliable man, someone worth spending her life with.
She... was a little moved.
"I..."
"I know you're going to say no right now, and I'm not in a hurry. I just couldn't help but let you know my feelings, but I'm not rushing you for a response. Like I said at the beginning, I like relationships that start as friendships. They're more solid, and you get to know each other better, to see if you're really compatible."
"I just hope you can give me more time. Let's see how things go between us, okay?"
Juniper pressed her lips together. "No one can predict the future."
This left some room.
Brice smiled. "Thank you!"
Outside the door, Anthony looked dejected.
As soon as he heard she was in trouble, he rushed over immediately. But there was already someone else by her side.
She was never short of men, and they always came before him.
He really wasn't good enough.
With a bitter smile, he left dejectedly and ran into Hera in the hallway.
"Why don't you go in and see her?" Hera asked with a cold, sarcastic smile.
Anthony didn't want to answer her.
"She has too many men around her. It's not your turn, right? First, it was Ronnie, now it's this guy, and there are others you don't know about. She really has a way with men. But Anthony, have you ever thought that maybe she's deliberately giving those men a chance?"
Anthony's face turned cold.
"You don't want to hear it, but I have to tell the truth. You men don't understand women's tricks. A woman like her, who doesn't reject or commit, is just using men to her advantage. Why can't you see that when it's so obvious?"
"You look ridiculous judging someone you don't even know," Anthony said coldly.
"Who says I don't know her? Women understand women better. It's you who doesn't understand her. Sometimes I wish I could crack open your head to see if it's filled with her lies, making you unable to tell right from wrong. You blindly believe her!"
"That night, she spent the night in your bed, and the next moment, she was with another guy from your company, who just happened to be her partner. Do you think she randomly chose him? She has a purpose. She just sees men as tools to use, as pawns. And you, you're willing to be her pawn. Isn't that pathetic?"
Anthony kept walking, but Hera continued to follow him, badmouthing Juniper.
"Enough!" Anthony roared, his eyes fierce.
The cold, murderous look in his eyes scared Hera.
"You... you actually yelled at me."
"Everyone's patience has a limit! Stop provoking me."
"I'm just telling the truth, trying to wake you up."
"You're being self-righteous. Juniper isn't the person you say she is, even if she is, I don't care. What about it?"
"You mean you're willing to be played by that woman? Anthony, I've been devoted to you, but you can't see it. She messes around, and you'd rather be one of her men. Are you crazy? Have you lost your mind?" Hera screamed in frustration.
"I think you're the crazy one! You know I don't like you, but you still force me to marry you! Are you trying to drag me down into the abyss with you? Do you want us both to be doomed?"
"I'm forcing you? You said you'd take responsibility. I didn't force you to touch me, did I? It was you..."
"That night, I drank a lot and mistook you for Juniper."
Hera's pupils contracted, hurt by his words. "You mean I was just her substitute?"
"That's right! I was out of my mind and not clear-headed. Do you understand now? I know you want to call me shameless, and I admit it. That was a stain on my life. But I only saw you as Juniper. She's the woman I truly want. I want to be honest with you so you understand how wrong your current path is! So you know what you're facing in the future."
"I don't love you. I've even lost all friendly feelings for you. When I see you, I feel an indescribable disgust and frustration. It's like being trapped, wanting to break free from this cage. You're driving me to depression."
"Even if there was no Juniper, even if we never saw each other again, I wouldn't like you, ever. All you have is a shell. Not only that, I won't live with you because seeing you makes me sick."
"If you don't get a divorce, we can drag this out forever. But I'm telling you clearly, this will be a tragedy for both of us. You'll become more and more miserable, more and more miserable! This is just the beginning of the disaster."
