Chapter 714 Did I Perform Well?

Celine rolled her eyes and lifted her wine glass slowly. "Juniper, girl, you're something else. Look at all these dudes here, totally hooked on you. You're making us ladies proud. Bet you can hold your liquor too. Cheers to you."

Even though she knew Celine was up to no good, Juniper still raised her glass and took a sip of the red wine.

"Just a sip? I downed mine, you know. Kinda rude, don't you think?" Celine smirked.

Juniper replied, "Red wine's meant to be savored, not chugged like beer."

Celine shot back, "Booze is booze, whether it's wine or beer. I know my table manners better than you. When someone toasts you, you finish your drink, or it's disrespectful."

"True that. Let's drink up. Juniper, show us what you got."

"Yeah, being able to drink is part of the job for a secretary."

"Juniper won't let us down."

Juniper had no choice but to finish the rest of her wine.

Celine grinned, "See, Juniper can drink. She was just being modest. I wonder if the bosses are curious about who can drink more, me or Juniper."

Clearly, she was trying to stir the pot.

Women always seem to make things harder for each other.

Juniper smiled slightly. "You're in the entertainment biz, so you must hit up a lot of parties. I admit, I'm not as seasoned as you."

The dig was clear—she was calling Celine a party girl who drinks with men all the time. Even if it was true, being called out like that still pissed Celine off.

Celine thought, 'Sure, Juniper's stealing the show tonight, but come on, I'm a movie star. How could a secretary compare to me?'

Celine said, "Ms. Cooper, you're too humble. Secretaries don't attend fewer social events than us celebs. I can tell you can hold your liquor. No need to hide it."

"I've never seen two beauties go head-to-head in a drinking contest. This should be fun. We'll be the judges," the crowd chimed in.

Celine said proudly, "This is a fair game. Even though I want to compete with Ms. Cooper, it's all voluntary. If you wanna bow out, I won't force you."

Juniper, never one to back down, couldn't let this slide.

She said with a charming smile, "Alright, let's do this."

Anthony frowned. "You don't handle alcohol well. Don't drink."

"It's fine. I got this." Juniper smiled at Celine. "Red wine?"

Celine replied, "Yeah, let's go with red wine."

"Alright." Juniper raised her glass.

They started downing glass after glass.

By the fifth glass, Celine felt like she was gonna hurl. She could usually hold her liquor, but this was too much. She thought three glasses would be enough to make Juniper tap out, but here she was, feeling sick while Juniper looked cool as a cucumber and ready for more.

"What's up, Celine? Can't keep up?" Juniper grinned.

"Who said I can't? This little bit of wine won't take me down." Celine poured another glass. "Let's keep going."

"Stop drinking," Anthony advised, "No need to push it."

Juniper still looked calm, but her ears were turning red.

"I can keep going." Juniper then finished her glass.

They kept drinking...

"So impressive!" The crowd cheered.

By the tenth glass, Juniper's stomach felt like it was gonna burst, and she was on the verge of puking. But she knew Celine was just waiting for her to tap out first, so she had to keep it together, gripping her glass tight and forcing herself to stay cool.

'Damn it, why hasn't she given up yet?' Celine thought, feeling like she was about to hurl any second.

"What's the matter? Can't keep up?" Juniper taunted.

"Who said I can't? You're the one who can't. I..." Celine covered her mouth and bolted to the bathroom, where the sound of her throwing up echoed.

"Juniper is really something else—beautiful, capable, and can hold her liquor. Amazing!"

Juniper forced herself to sit still, smiling like nothing was wrong, but she was already feeling dizzy.

"Are you okay?" Anthony's concerned voice reached her, making her heart skip a beat. His voice was so calming.

"I'm fine," Juniper replied.

But she clearly didn't look fine, always trying to act tough.

Anthony sighed, "Mr. Myles, we have other plans for today, so we'll take our leave now."

"So soon?"

Anthony replied, "Yeah, we have a full day of meetings tomorrow."

"Alright then, Mr. Eilish, Juniper, you should go rest."

Juniper stood up and stumbled a bit. Anthony immediately supported her. She quickly steadied herself and kept up the act as she said goodbye to everyone.

Meanwhile, Celine was still in the bathroom, puking her guts out.

Anthony held Juniper by the waist as they walked out of the private room.

Juniper felt even hotter all over. His hand was so big and warm, making her whole body tremble and her head spin even more.

"Did I do well just now?" she asked.

Anthony replied, "Not well."

"What?"

"You did very well," Anthony slowly added.

Juniper smiled. "You scared me. I thought I messed up."

"They were all praising you. Why would you worry about not doing well?"

"Maybe they were just flattering me because of you. It's inevitable in such situations." Juniper couldn't help but hiccup, quickly covering her mouth in embarrassment. She stuck out her tongue. "Sorry, I drank too much."

"You know you drank too much? Didn't you say you were fine?" Anthony gave her a sidelong glance.

Juniper retorted, "Come on, ten glasses of red wine is almost a whole bottle."

"If you don't like drinking, why push yourself?"

"I couldn't lose. Come on, I was representing your face. How could I let you lose face?" Juniper said seriously.

"For me? So I should thank you?"

"You're welcome. It's my duty as a secretary. As long as I didn't embarrass you, it's all good." Juniper giggled, her smile becoming a bit silly.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Anthony looked at her increasingly red face, a bit worried.

"I'm fine, but it seems... I'm feeling a bit dizzy..." Juniper said as she started to lean to the side, and Anthony quickly caught her.

"Dizzy?"

"Yeah, and my legs are weak. Oh no, the alcohol seems to be kicking in... I'm so dizzy..." Juniper shook her head and giggled foolishly. "Dizzy... Why do I see double? One Mr. Eilish, two Mr. Eilish... both so handsome..."

The elevator arrived.

"Can you still walk?" Anthony asked.

"Of course I can. Let go. I'll walk a perfectly straight line for you..." Juniper pushed his hand away, her feet stumbling over each other. She claimed to walk a straight line but was clearly staggering.

"How strange. Why is the floor moving... drifting? Stop moving... I'll step on you!" She jumped up and stomped on the floor.
